Mark Hamil has one of the most iconic Joker roles in his IMDB. Seriously, he ranks just below heath ledger at this point imo. Yeah it was a cartoon voice over but damn me he did a great job.

Things I can think of off the top of my head for Mark Hamill . . . He was in that live action adaptation of Guyver.

Though he died kind of horribly in that one.

Also . . . You put him below Heath Ledger? For shame. He will always be the best Joker. From now until the end of time.

Oh, and he briefly appeared in Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back.

Honestly, I loved the different direction heaths joker went in. Dont get me wrong, hamils joker is the baseline. He IS the joker in that cartoon, and I think it is a perfect blend of crazy clown and psycho criminal. But the dangerous psychopath and darker than black humor acting of leger was freaking awesome. It was an entirely new take on the character and it worked great.

I don't think it's a single experiment, unless he wanted to show densities of various gasses, but then the baloons are rather important and there are simplier and safer ways to obtain hydrogen. From the list, the sodium is frankly the most alarming substance:
    Spoiler

Sodium with water gives caustic soda and pure hydrogen. When a big enough chunk (a single gram might be enough) of sodium reacts with water there is more then enough free energy to trigger the hydrogen explosion. A whole kilogram of this thing means seriously bad news.

If I could afford to ditch the overtime pay, I would. 60 hour weeks stink.

Do we actually know what Pete's job is? I know it's been mentioned a few times, but I'm not sure if it's ever been outright stated, or if it's one of those implied ongoing mysteries.

It seems to be some kind of tech support, since he was called away in the middle of a session once. Beyond that, we know he wears a tie and travels internationally to give presentations.

Actually, there's a point in my work year where I'm pulling 80s. That sucks big time, but time, time and a half and double time take some of the sting out of it. Besides, what all is there to do in Jan/Feb?

Pete's either very senior tech support, likelyva manager, or a software developer. He could also be some sort of research scientist, but that's what Jim is and stories seldom overlap occupations unless they are about that occupation.

"All the way back to Alberto", eh?

    Lemme guess:
Alberto, Bobbio, Carlo, Davio, Eddio, and now Freddo and Greedo.

There needs to be an I in between. Isaac-O? Iano? Iago!

EDIT: Looks like I called Iago, and now we have a J (Jafar) as well.

On the other hand Pete was introduced to the group by Jim. Work is how they could have known each other.

Not that I believe it, just thought I would throw that out there.

Making your players do things by telling them not do to things works as well as it does with little kids... which means it#s pretty much fail safe. The other way round doesn't work as well, I guess.

Though, there is definitely NOTHING more amusing than making your players either paranoid or do stuff by dropping hints about stuff they shouldn't do... "Are you sure you want to open the (completely safe and best empty) box? - No, wait. I scan the box! For traps! And poisonous gas inside! Can I do that? Hm, how can I open it from at least 10 meters away..."

Have you guys ever had success having previous PCs act as NPC mentor figures to new PCs?

And have the player act as their previous PC?

    I'd love to see that...

Actually, there was one time we were playing a one-shot, All-Star Spycraft game where each player picked a famous character they played from a previous game and we teamed up to fight evil. I had two characters that fit the description, so I played one, and the other called in over the radio once in a while to give inspiration bonuses to people's rolls.

I've also played in games that were direct sequels to previous ones, but in those, several characters just carried over as party members, and didn't become mentors or anything. I think one time one of my characters made a cameo as a gardener, but I didn't play him again, nor did he contribute anything to the story. He was just there.

Edit: I see now that the top level reference is LOTR, with this just possibly a local-flavored riff beneath it.

It always amuses me when the comment at the bottom is something I've been doing for years. (In this case, the use of notes to filter character knowledge through player perception.)

You know, im wondering if this comic will last long enough for the next series to start being released? We are close to the end of part 5, but it could still be a month or two before we finish that up, then there is part 6.
