Until you realise it's weak to about almost everything (in terms of common damage, since it IS resistant to 12 types out of 17). Oh, and it dies to any status effect.

Ooh, I had a fun pokemon idea - an Eevee-like family, where it evolves by being levelled up with different status effects. Each persistent status effect results in a different pokemon, based around that effect.

Not sure how you're do a sleep-focused one any different than Darkrai, though.

Clearly the answer is simple. You don't. Make this theoretical pokemon a prevolution to Darkrai. Infact, make it related to Cressilia too. If it reaches a certain level without leveling up with a status effect on, it becomes Cressilia, but a status effect turns it into a warped beast of that element.

Well, the eevevolutions partially are themed like status effects.
Poisoned, Frozen, Burnt, Confused, Asleep, Paralysed.
Vaporeon, Glaceon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Jolteon.

You could make it so being asleep makes it more effective? The inverse of Darkrai putting to sleep, this is a pokemon you want yours to be put to sleep.

And I say the most convoluted evolution is Mantyke->Mantine. I mean, yes, Mantine has a Remoraid in its finarmpit in some appearances, but the Remoraid you have to use doesn't go away, and why not just display Mantine as not having a Remoraid?

Teddy, your Englih is frigging amazing, I think the only error I've ever seen was the one about 'catastrophy', and that was so OOC it was one of the reasons I PMed you to see if you were okay. YOu sound entirely native, and while I assume you'd be different IRL, where you'd have to try and pronounce everything+do it at the speed of conversation, right now anyone would tihnk you were a regular ol' native English speaker.

Thanks! I gather that I'm pretty good at spoken English as well, but I do have an accent you'd probably notice quite immediately would you ever hear me speak. It's a bit hard to avoid as a Swede...

I agree with Knee Teddy, you're GREAT at the whole writing english thing. I've only ever noticed one or two oddities, and both were related to "Can you borrow me this item".

Yeah, I make this mistake all the time. It's silly, seeing how I know quite a lot about the Lend-Lease Act, but I always forget that "lend" exists as a word...
