Pre-Apocalypse Party

So yesterday (12/12/12) we decided to hold a pre-apocalypse party. We figured that Apocalypse parties on the 21st would already be a fairly big thing, and post-apocalypse is just too mainstream these days.

We decided to 'suit up' as well dressed supervillians, some steampunk, some techno, some modern fashion, and head down to a nearby pub with an older decor.
Our group decided to name itself HUMAN.

It was an excellent little soiree.

My fiance and I were the best dressed there. We were a combination of Steampunk, modern fashion, with a touch of Dr Who. My fiance's character was that of a moderatly wealthy heiress who learned smuggling and forgery while at an all-girls boarding school. I was a modestly wealthy banker, accountant, and otherwise book keeper, who used the dowry of our wedding to purchase a yacht and started a travel company at my fiance's behest.
Of course the travel company is now a front for our smuggling operations. She makes the port and customs documents and looks after our guests while I handle the book keeping and the day to day management of the crew aboard our yacht.

During the party we struck an accord with the oil tycoon to sell him our yacht.
"500,000? Do we have an agreement then?"
"Sure."

"Excellent, we have an accord, 600 thousand it is. I'll expect a check before we part for the evening"

And then I walked over to the fellow wearing the Deus Ex glasses, with a fancy pacemaker. What did he call it? Oh yes, an Arc Reactor. On his chest, you could see the light through his shirt. Man really needs to purchase a propper waistcoat. Anyway, I asked him how far 600k would get me in purchasing one of his new flying airships. He looked at me strangely, offered to do something with my arm, then gave me a quote. Excellent deal by the sounds of things. Imagine what our little travel company could do with a flying ship!

Yeah, excellent party.
Our next meeting might be held at a local pup, called the Hopp and Brew. More wood and brass than you can shake a stick at, they say. Sounds like our kind of interior.
As for the date?
Someone suggested 13/13/13, which is a bit of a paradox you see. As that would technically be the 13/01/14 but that is ages away. We'll likely meet again before that. Anything less would be...

It stands to reason that the Mayans would base their calendar on their own time zone, me luv. Just let us yanks saunter in Lateoddly on time to the party, and we'll kick it off with a spot of meteors and a chance of doom.

Or possibly a fine, balmy/drizzly British Saturday, on your end. Plans are still up in the air. It's like one of those underground raves that only get press a few hours before opening. Except the organizers have been dead for a couple centuries and their culture vanished entirely.

My fiance and I decided to exchange Christmas gifts last night, as our celebration of the possible end of the world.
Just in case, right?

My motivation for this was due to the fact that I got her a pretty amazing Christmas present. So if the end of the world happened today, she'd remember back to it and think "my fiance is a good smart guy, him and me VS the world will totally work out."

Yeah. Now I'm just a little bit bummed out by the lack of anything exciting today.

Well, 13 hours until we can start worrying about the next apocolypse (Assuming some people think the world will end at the end of today, and we're using the Mayan time zone- Not that people west of me will think of that).


Of course, there's probably going to be people talking about how we miscalculated, and the world ends a few days from now, and all that stuff.
