Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC

"Welp. Looks like we're home free. Let's get back to town."

He gave Kleid five, then returned the machop to his pokeball. Viktor butted up against him.

"Sorry buddy, I'm beat too. You have to walk back."

"Aaaaron." Viktor whined.

"No buts."

Turning, he led the way home, while thinking up names for the new pokemon.

[Asdfth]

Drake smiles and nods at his two brand new Pokemon. "They ain't dragons but these will do.
He followed Ken to the village.

The group is quickly ushered into the town by Medina, who takes you to the room where Leon is sleeping. She quickly heals you with a variety of poultices and potions that all taste absolutely disgusting, but heal your injuries and lull you into a deep sleep.

All four of you wake up at around the same time. The sun shines brightly through the windows, signalling that it is the beginning of a beautiful afternoon. A note is tacked to the door, written in a large scrawl that you have to squint to read.

Thanks for your help last night. Now I can actually leave town during the day without returning to find all the kids dead. It does mean a lot to me.. Have fun in Mauville, but be careful; those big city folks never tell you everything you need to know. In the meantime you hothead, do try to avoid being gored by anymore pokemon. I'd hate to have to find something else for your teammates to do, and that would be more effort than it would be worth. Take care,

Leon will awaken feeling much better. "Morning, guys."

[Major]

Amber yawns as she wakes up and looks around. She nodded at her group, "Good morning." She said as she read over the note, "Uhhh before we leave can we see about picking up a first aid kit and some new clothes?" She asked. "I didn't see a pokemart, but they gotta sell something here."

"Sounds reasonable to me."

[Kantolin]

Ken jerked awake.

What was.... when was... He couldn't even fathom at first.

He looked at the clock, and outside. The sun was shining through the window... as he tensed his fists.

It was so late! Every morning! It wasn't morning anymore at /all/!

He leapt to his feet - where he saw the note.

The note pissed him off further. 'Thank you for your help'. You mean 'thank you for being badgered into potentially being killed'. Grr. And what, had she drugged them into staying asleep this late? This LATE?!

Enough. Morning drills - or well, afternoon drills would keep his head out of that. Kleid and Viktor were there - Kleid struck a few poses, and nodded. Drills!

And, after a moment, he sent out his new two pokemon - phanpy and bellsprout. The two were energetic immediately, but calmed down - Ken looked very serious. He tried to keep himself to a side area so he wouldn't bother any of the locals.

"You guys don't have to participate." He said, nodding.

Then, abruptly, action. A flurry of punches from Kleid - no, they were alternating. Punches, then headbutts, then punches alternatingly between the two - into Ken's outstretched palms.

It wasn't a fight - it was sparring.

And, after a frenzy of early activity, it calmed down a bit. Practicing motions, basic swings, manuevers. Phanpy was still a little confused, while Ken did note the bellsprout was trying the occasional punches, not that it understood.

Every morning. Slacking off could put him at a disadvantage in combat, which was when people were counting on him. His mind traveled to the rabid battle - how many times had his swings been sub-par? Where could have improved?

It was only about half an hour of direct focus before it cooled down. Kleid, noticing his new fan, went and gave some pointers. Viktor calmed down a bit, keeping an eye out on Ken.

It was clearly bothering him, and Viktor could tell that.

So, after a little bit, he nudged his trainer's leg. Ken shook his head. "A little more."

And Viktor, a little worried... just watched.

He stepped back in the room as Amber spoke, visibly a bit ragged, but smiling. His aron was behind him - the rest of his pokemon were in their balls.

"I was... uh. I don't think they have a library around here either - but maybe they have a small store or something. I could use some pokeballs, too."

It occured to him that this was a healer's house, as he looked about there for any books on rabies.

Drake awoke but was still a little tired from the ordeal last night. He got up and saw that the old woman wasn't there.Darn old crone she isn't here I was going to give a piece of mind almost killing us He thought to himself. He meet with everyone "Morning everyone." He then saw Amber leaving and Ken talking about a shop. "Yeah I need some Pokeballs as well. They should have a shop around here or something like it. Drake heads to look around the town for a shop or market.

Before everyone splits ways, Leon will suggest that they all show each other what all 'mons we have to make sure everyone's gotten a chance to scan everything.

He himself will call out his emolga, tynamo, chinchou, miltank, meowth, and last of all his tauros.

Most of Leon's pokemon come out peacefully, the milktank cowers as soon as you let it out. The tauros however, is a completely different story. It roars in anger and flies into a rage, smashing the walls, the floor, Leon, the pokemon you released, pretty much anything that wasn't the milktank.

Amber
The town is for the most part empty, with the majority of the people living out working. You do manage to find what appears to be a general store that has a good selection of basic, if cheap clothing in addition to a first aid kit that should serve you well. The total came to $675.

Leon
As you wander around town, nothing much catches your eye until you see a thin trainer walking through town.

Ken
There isn't a library in town, and the general store doesn't have any books for sale aside from some maps of the tunnels. You do find the same first aid kit that Amber did and some basic medical supplies: potions, repels, revives and such, but not much else.

Drake
You quickly find the general store, but it doesn't have any pokeballs in it. You eventually stumble upon a young boy playing with scrap pokeballs, apparently fixing them. A pile of fixed balls sits by his side, and a sack bulges with more.

Jakob
After a couple days of wandering through the wilderness, you find yourself at a small town near the mouth of Rusturf Tunnel. As you explore the town, you spot a general store, a boy with a large number of pokeballs, and what appears to be a town hall. As you approach the general store, you see a lean boy with golden blond hair glancing at you.

Leon will approach the trainer and introduce himself. "Hello there, stranger. Name's Leon. What's yours?"

"Jakob," he says, holding his hand out to shake the man's hand, trying to get a better look of the kid with the Pokeballs.

"What brings you to Rusturf Tunnel?"

[Major]

"Thanks," Amber says handing over the money, "Ummm do you have a changing room here?" She ask as she looks around, "Obviously I bought the clothes to not be wearing rags."

"Jakob," he says, holding his hand out to shake the man's hand, trying to get a better look of the kid with the Pokeballs.

"What brings you to Rusturf Tunnel?"

Leon takes the hand, proud of the control he's mastered to be able to grip his hand without a hint of static. In another day or two, he might just have a handle on this.

"I'm with a group from Devon Co. on our way out to New Mauville. There's been some trouble up there and we're here to see about settling it down."

"Mauville? I've never been there, but from what I've heard it's not bad," Jakob says, trying to find somewhere nearby to sit down.

As he does so, Rammus's Pokeball digs into his leg. The trainer seems nice enough. The wilds hadn't been a good fight; none of them had even been worth capturing. If he had been hired by a company as large as Devon, he had to be at least competent, right? He could be entertaining at least.

"I don't mean to sound forward, but how about a battle? Just a friendly one, no stakes; I seem to be *ahem* lacking in funds at the moment."

His hand is already drifting towards Rammus's ball, only to swap to a different member. He could use the experience.

"Sounds fine to me. How about two 'mons each?"

[Arcran]

"Sounds fine to me. How about two 'mons each?"

"Fair by me," Jakob says, holding the Pokeball in his hand.

"Release on the count of three? One, two..."

"Go, girl, take that snake out."

Bovinia will close the distance and tackle the snake.

Jakob's grin falters as Squint is pummeled under a hundred pounds of cow flesh.

"It's alright Squint! You did your best!" he says, although whether or not that was sarcastic is hard to tell. If he wanted to win this, he'd have to go big.

"Alright Rammus, let's show this overgrown bovine how it's done!" he says, releasing his friend across the arena, hopefully out of range of the cow.

Jakob looks at the cow in surprise. He'd never had that happen in a trainer battle.

"Hey girl," he says, reaching out to pet the Miltank. "You're really supposed to stay out there, in the battle," he says, rubbing it on the head.

"Rammus, get ready for a big boom," he says.

The Sandshrew jumps up, burrowing quickly underground, pulling his armor plating together to create a shield.

"Hm... apparently Bovinia trusts you. That says good things about your character to me." Leon observes.

Bovinia will stay near the other trainer, curling up at his feet again.

The Sandshrew continues to shift, stopping when he feels the pressure of a big fat cow over him. Smashing the walls with his spikes, he shakes the very earth.

"Aw, that's a pity." Ken noted, to the lack of books. He did glance at the maps, but his pokedex came with a town map already which was likely sufficient.

He looked at the first aid kit that Amber had, exhaling. He didn't have the money yet to afford more potions or the like. She, however, seemed to know exactly what she wanted from the first aid kit. "Can... can you show me how to use that? I know I'll be a slow learner, but if I can assist even a little..."

"Aaron!"

"Hey, not now - you had plenty of treats yesterday."

Viktor pouted. Dangit, no getting Ken to give him tons of treats today it seemed.

[Asdfth]

Drake sees the boys playing with the scraps of Pokeball. Hey kid." Drake said with a smile. "You seem rather handy with Pokeballs and are you willing to sell some to me?

[Arcran]

Rammus takes the blow, spinning away.

"Alright buddy, end this!"

The Sandshrew dashes away, blasts of pure energy arcing away from the Sandshrew to slam into the cow.
