The Wold is a long running Dungeons and Dragons campaign world that emphasizes play by post gaming and a commitment to write one game turn every weekday. The flavour:
Flames roared into the night as a small town was engulfed by flames. A halfling was running down the main street, a hood concealing his face. "Curses!" He yelled and leaped into a puddle, dodging parts of a collapsing building. Quickly he got back up again and looked around, but the Eldari was nowhere to be seen. He looked back to where men at arms where trying to corner the beast while everybody else tried to put out the flames. With a grim sigh the hooded figure said as if to calm his own conscience: "I will finish what I came for." Than he sprinted of to the stables, there he mounted his pony and disappeared in the night.
About an hour later he crossed into volcano dwarf territory. Looking back one last time, smole was still rising beyond the dense pine forest and in the distance he could make out the victorious roar of a horrible beast.
The next morning champions were summoned to the king of Lights Crown, a new quest awaits!

Dear Players,

I am interested in starting aa game, called Silver Caravan, the RPG. Just a standard 3.5e world. Pop in and post your starting character. Nothing weird okay? Just standard races and classes. Working out some interesting ideas, or well what I think is interesting. Immersive role-playing fantasy game. Come, get lost, and have fun. Expect game world politics to play a major role late game.

Character restrictions 3.5e, Player's Handbook only, no special, demonic or monster classes. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, etc.

Player starting level 1, Roll 5d6 twice for each stat (STR, CON, DEX, INT, WIS, CHA) and post the rolls, discard lowest set. I will take the first 8 players, and if people stop posting their spots will open up to others. Posting schedule is twice nightly EST.

Equipment: no horses, simple weapons and armor, up to 5,000 gp spending money on magical items.

Posting Speed: FAST, A game best suited for people that have little to nothing going on in their lives.

In the townhall of Abbey, you find yourself standing amist other adventurers, townsfolk, and so on. Many are talking in small groups among themselves on various topics, ranging from a marauding dragon in the far West, and concerns over whether it will strike the far Western marketplaces, and what that might do to the price of goods all over the countryside, and the more mundane last weekend's great bar brawl and who ended up in the stocks. There's talk of Prince Alfonse the Good who gave a cow to an orphanage, and whether or not the rivalry of the Dukes over the hand of Princess of Westingham is really worth all the fuss. There's talk of bardic performing troupes canvassing the lands and whether one troupe has already outperformed another. Closer to home there's talk of goblin war parties up and about on the trade roads, and the great old goblin drums have been heard pounding away in the distance, summoning hordes to their keepers. Theirs whispers of dark and sinister night stalkers roaming the deep wilds once again. At a desk, The Silver Caravan has a sign-up sheet for guards, with a pay of 1 silver to help push through to the local City of Dustwaven, such an amount is a fortune to most in the town and a few crowds of would-be adventurers have collected nearby. Few have actually signed though, there's talk, lots of talk about people going. But with the pounding of goblin war drums in the distance nearly every night. Few can't help but wonder, if they might be signing up for their own deaths.

Reincarnation Wars

By now most of you should be familiar with Reincarnation Wars, I've been trying to get it off for many years now, and now another GM is running a Reincarnation Wars on this website of his or her own. Reincarnation Wars is a role play premise that player characters are normal, every day people who suddenly find out that they are the reincarnation of heroes and villains from throughout fiction and history. In this role play, it's still Reincarnation Wars, but it's left more up to the imagination whether or not the power these people receive from are past lives, thus making them a reincarnation, or somehow just inheriting these people's power through some mysterious cosmic magic. The term for the past lives of characters is usually referred to is "soul". Though, this role play, these souls are also referred to as "persona". Player characters are referred to as "The Awakened".

A Whole New World
As the year’s Chuunin exams concluded, news ricocheted throughout the Shinobi World about a mysterious corpse that had washed up on the shore of the Land of Water. Of course, news of a drowning victim would hardly prick up the ears of surrounding nations, but what made this body so intriguing was its complete foreignness.

From the blistered and greenish black remains, medical nins were still able to regenerate the corpse enough to analyze tattoo patterned across the skin. Art historians have concluded that the tattoos share no cultural antecedent in the known world. Likewise, linguists have noted that some tattoos may be of a language yet undiscovered.

Rumors have it that the Leaf-nin managed to resurrect the body long enough to learn about a distant land on the other side of the world.

Some Things Never Change…
Even with the Third Shinobi World War a decade behind everyone, deep-seated rivalries spurred the different nations into plotting ways of tracing the route of the foreign corpse back to its homeland. Leaked reports from the Land of Fire seem to indicate the body was of a lone survivor of a fleet of people escaping from some war-torn home. A home rumored rich with natural resources and unfamiliar with the idea of chakra. The promise of an exploitable new world with no ninja to defend it has further solidified everyone’s intention of crossing the Eastern Ocean.

However, further investigations into the washed-up corpse suggest that an Eastern voyage would be too costly for any one nation to make. Experts estimate the entire trip might take a year or longer with current technology. Any large-scale fleet might divert too much resources, opening a nation up to possible incursions from other lands.

A compromise made at the Land of Iron meant the Five Great Shinobi Countries and other minor countries would pool their resources and manpower together to set sail.

The Ship
Sponsored by the vast gold reserves from the Land of Rivers, the gigantic Shinobi vessel, christened the World-Seeker, was designed by the mad shipwright, Pettu. Mixing pragmatics with art, the World-Seeker features elaborate mazes that allow each country (both major and minor) communal areas and private, hidden spaces.

It was Pettu’s intention to make the ship a microcosm of the Shinobi world where some sections of the ship could serve as miniature Hidden Villages to house competing nations’ ninja forces and ambassadors.

Besides being a nest for political intrigue and back-stabbing, the ship has become famous for also utilizing ninjutsu to move it. Almost every elemental specialist can contribute to the maintenance and running of the World-Seeker.

The Factions…
Every Great Shinobi Country is accounted for on the World-Seeker. Each has brought along a single three-person or four-person squad of ninja to serve as protectors to their respective ambassadors. It’s no secret, however, that each has also snuck on an unknown number of ninja to further their individual plots.

The minor countries have also sent their own representatives with a medley of ninjas from various Hidden Villages from some of the oldest like Hoshigakure to the youngest such as Soragakure. Due to the typically small size of their host government and hidden villages, each minor country has contributed at most one or two ninja to the voyage. The overall number of ninja from different parts of the Shinobi world serve as a sort of check to the well-organized mechanisms of the greater ones.

…and Their Royalty
The Great Countries sent their own ambassadors to represent their daimyo’s will in the New World. Each ambassador is connected to the royal bloodline, supposedly ensuring their obedience to their country. Besides their own personal vendettas, they are also given directions from their individual daimyo that they keep confidential to everyone else.

Whether you’ve been paid, ordered, or you just volunteered, you are one of the ninja that find themselves on the World-Seeker. Regardless of whose allegiance you’ve pledged to, it is your mission to see your people and country make it beyond the horizon.

Alrighty, so here’s the plan: I’ve been thinking about a big campaign for a while now. The idea is to have the characters explore across the ocean and then arrive in a foreign land. As such, I will focus one campaign (maybe two to three different adventures) on the journey with the other campaign dedicated to the New World.

Why not just go to the New World? To make it feel foreign, I want to understand the different ideas and values that your characters develop and then create something alien to it. Plus, I may or may not be reading Hunter X Hunter again.

As for making your characters: Your ninja can be from anywhere. There’s no limit, but do realize that you may have competing goals while on the ship. How you as individuals come together is part of the game.

1. System: Naruto d20 (make sure you have the most updated file by downloading it from here). For character sheets, simply create one using Myth Weavers. They have a dedicated sheet made for Nd20

2. Player Count: I’m looking for four players. I found in the past, having more usually results in games that slow down and die. The less, the better I find. HOWEVER, if anyone wants to co-GM, we can have more players join. While I can’t manage more than four, I find having more players results in a group that can last a long time.

3. Style of Play: Story first. I love characters that we all care about and want to see through to the end. The mechanics can be used/made/customized/broken in order to make a better a story, so do expect a lot of crunch underneath the fluff.

As for genres…Beyond the Horizon will start of seafaring with political intrigue built in. I foresee this campaign being mainly the above with the succeeding campaigns taking different shapes depending on what the PCs accomplish.

4. Allowed Content: Nothing is outright banned, but anything homebrewed or selected from the supplements should be run past me first.

I’ve probably played every mechanic by now in Nd20, so go wild. If anything seems broken, we will fix it together.

5. Character Creation:
*Backstory: A BACKSTORY IS A MUST. I will be making my decisions based mainly on backstory, so make sure you give it enough thought.

For me, a backstory is more than just explaining how a character arrived at their mechanics. It should highlight your character’s desires, flaws, and relationships. Provide me hooks for your characters and maybe even your expectations for how they will develop. If you want help brainstorming, just PM/IM/whatever me.

Note: Just because I help you develop a character does not mean it will get accepted. I accept groups of characters I feel will work well together or create interesting tension/relationships with one another.

*Experience: Characters will start at ECL 12. Remember, characters with Advanced Bloodlines will typically have dead levels taken up by their bloodlines.

*Wealth: Wealth Bonus starts at 20 + Occupation Bonus + Feats

*Ability Scores: You’re some of your villages’/countries’ best ninja. To reflect this, all characters will be made using 40-point buy.

*Hitpoints/Health: Save yourself the trouble and average it.

*Alignment: Alignment doesn’t really matter, but be aware that choosing an obviously evil ninja will probably make you incompatible with the group of PCs.

6. House Rules:
*Fractional BAB.

*Shinobi Archetypes. See this link.

*Hostage Maneuver Variant (pages 34-35).

*Reflex Saves and Movement Penalties Variant (page 35).

*Free Bonus Feats: Genin and Chuunin. Jounin must be taken as a regular feat to denote the specific trials and specialization required.

*Characters gain a number of masteries equal to their Character Level.

*There is a limit to the amount of techniques you can learn per rank. Any character may have up to 2 techniques of the highest rank available to the character, 3 of the second highest, 4 of the third highest, 5 of the fourth highest, and any number of those below. Example: Toshio is level 13 and can have 2 techniques of rank 13, 3 of rank 12, 4 of rank 11, 5 of rank 10, and any number of those of rank 9 and below. This helps characters have a balanced repertoire to select from, but this rule can be flexible given a decent explanation of how a different ratio of techniques reflects your character.

*As for homebrew...I'm pretty lenient provided enough coaxing. I'm also open to most of the homebrew on this thread, but run stuff past me because there are some crazy-stupid broken techniques/bloodlines in that thread.

I hit dirtside early, so that I could relax before having to run around in a monkey suit again. If I wasn't so hard up for cash and if it wasn't Mom paying the bill, there's no way you could get me to wear a fleeter uniform! Anyway, I made it to Storm Lake, checked in to the temporary BOQ, and decided check out a bar. Not the ****py one that the fleeters hang out at, but one in town. A place called G Witter's.

So, I was just getting comfortable and..."

Yes, he was feeling much better now. The stuff they served here wasn't exactly spice, or even sarien brandy, but after a few shots, he was starting to get a slight buzz. The bar was quiet by his standards, but the civilians seemed OK. Much better than being around a bunch of fleeters, trying to prove how tough they are...He hadn't had to hurt anyone yet...and since he was 'on duty', Mom (this was Gentry's old call sign), would disapprove.

Most of the women here were not really his type...Well, there was the one at the end of the bar. And Jack was sure she was giving him the eye.

So he decided to go over, and maybe ask her out...suave like.

"Whasssss a g girl like you...(Urp!)...d doing to this place.....like...thisss?"

There was a hard tap on his shoulder and Kirby was spun around. He looked......up.

"That's my girl yer botherin'!"

The dude was big! With a farmer's tan and a heavy bush of reddish blond hair that made him look like a cross between a human and a lion.

Kirby decided to say something witty...

"Booooy! You are one uuuuugly individ...individ..ind...dude."

'Simba' didn't seem to like this...at all...In fact, he looked like he was wanting to crush him...for a second...A couple hits in the right place, dropped 'Leo' like a sack of potatoes. That was when he noticed the other guys...and they didn't look happy at all!...This guy has friends?

"Well...time to leave."

As he backed out, the mob followed...He knew they were ready to spring. But, before this could happen the 'Lion King' broke through the small crowd..."I'm gonna rip your..."

Jack didn't wait for the end of the speech. In the corner of his eye he notice a young couple gliding slowly by on hover bikes...pastel hover bikes. He pulled the guy off the cute green one and kicked it into gear.

He was moving at a good speed...Zipping in and out between buildings, at a safe altitude of five meters... He was thinking about how close he came to getting into trouble again, when...

"Aaaaarg!"

Oh ****! There was 'Simba' on the cute pink bike...With a metal bar or something in his hand.

"Where'd he get that?" Jack asked himself.

The pink hover bike over took his, and Leo swung....

"Ha! Ya missed"

But, Kirby noticed there was smoke coming out of this bike...and it now wanted to only turn right. He had just enough control, to miss the wall of the two story building, as Laughing Boy shot past...

...He didn't miss the window.

CRASH! Went the window (made with real glass...how quaint). Jack did a perfect roll as the hover bike came to a sudden stop...He was on his feet in a flash.

"Eeeeek!"

There was a wet naked woman coming out of the bathroom....She looked pretty nice...Kirby spent a second enjoying the view, then stepped out the apartment door, ran down the stairs...and ran into some uniformed people.

One of them shot him with a stun beam.

In the process of building a Discord server where players can RP and play in a world seperated into discord rooms. Players (who can also be DMs) will be in a world where adventurers are mercanaries, accepting contracts from DMs (who can also be players). While outside of contracts, which are essentially short (or long) one-shots for a party (4-5), partnership (2) or freelancer (1), players can interact with each other in this world through any other location in the world that isn't being used for contracts. As contracts are created in different areas, those areas become visitable after the contract is complete, essentially creating a growing world with backstory for each location. There will also be events which will act as a server-wide overarcing story for every player to join in on and eventually complete.

Separate from the High Fantasy of Tolkein and the Low Fantasy of fairy tales lies a third genre: the imaginative, mind-bending surrealist and magic-realist fantasies of the 20th century.

A group of adventurers will dream their way to a dungeon-space beyond their wildest imagination. While their purpose is unknown, they will have to work together to survive, thrive, and seek escape from or success within a labyrinthine setting. Set pieces will include enigmatic libraries, halls of mirrors, stairways to infinity, secret doors, alters to forgotten gods, and more, along with occasional peaceful contact with sentient denizens. Conceptual inspiration will draw from the work of Borges, Echo, Marquez, Kafka, and Murakami, as well as other surrealists and magical-realists and world folklore and mythology.
