WATCHTOWER 16: Quick and Dirty

"Helldiver. It's this big, mechanical suit of armor. I bought it for the big-league stuff," Adir says, shrugging. "It's really cool."

[Reinholdt]

Lobby

"Huh. Where'd you buy it from?" Ilpholin asks. There could be something worth looking into.

[Murkus]

[Lobby]

Hm. Adir ponders about not telling her. With those draegloth features, he's not even sure she's a friend anymore. But it's too late now. Besides, she's head of AMEN. She could have power armor built, if she wanted.

After some hesitation, the stag says, "Erin's Emporium. Good price, too. Well, reasonable." He glances toward the barracks. "So which one of these is Darcy in?"

[Reinholdt]

[Lobby]

"Hmm."

"Darcy's room is that one. I can't guarantee she's in there though." Ilpholin says, pointing it out. At least, it was her room last Ilpholin was here.

[Murkus]

[Lobby]

"Well, lemme page her for you," Adir says, because Kid Kris totally established pagers as Watchman standard. The stag figures that if Ilpholin had hers, she would've done it already. Aaaand he's got an ulterior motive.

Darcy should receive a message asking her to meet Ilpholin in the lobby. KR and Wenomir will get a very different page.

Ilpholin's here. Still demon. Should I make sure she sticks around?

[Lobby]

Adir will get an answer from Wenomir:

Try, but look natural. Does Darcy know?

[Reinholdt]

[Lobby]

"Wouldn't it be easier to just go and knock?"

Ilpholin looks ready to go do that, but Adir seems to be on the pager already, so stays put.

"When did you guys get those?"

[Murkus]

[Lobby]

Paged her already. We'll see.

"Oh, uh, KR was handing them out a while ago. Woulda gotten you one, but you haven't been around," Adir says, looking up from his pager. He's rather sly about this - not an inkling of deception in his voice. That foolish smile of his follows. "I guess I just wanted an excuse to use it. Go 'head and knock, if you want."

Darcy gets the message and runs to the lobby, after someone pokes her player to resubscribe this thread.

"Ilpholin!" "It's only been a couple of days, but it feels like ages!"

[Reinholdt]

Lobby

Yeah that'd probably help. Been there, done that.

As for Adir, buying heavy ordinance... extreme deceptive techniques... we'll make a proper career criminal out of him yet.

"Hi Darcy. Yeah. I didn't realize all that could happen in a few days."
So much.

A bit less for Darcy. All she did was go and meet Koro.

Darcy takes Ilpholin's hand and kisses her on the cheek. "Are you ready then?" She gives a glance at Adir. She told Wenomir and DC about her and Ilpholin, and that Ilpholin is planning to take the demon cure, but she doesn't know how far the news spread. Does Adir know?

[Murkus]

Lobby

Adir... does not. That would make Wenomir's pager reply much more confusing. However, I imagine they all assumed Ilpholin had taken it by now, or was supposed to take it on her prior 'date' with Darcy. "What're you guys up to?" He asks, remaining amiable for the time being.

[Reinholdt]

Lobby

Darcy's not going to get away with such minor displays! She's going to get a full on hug.

Before Ilpholin falls back to hand holding.
"Yeah..."

She looks ready to answer Adir when she closes her eyes and rubs her head with her free hand. Like one would do when they have a headache. Guess Darcy can field that one.

"We're together," Darcy says, colouring a little, but only in self-consciousness rather than shame.

[Murkus]

[Lobby]

"Oh. Well alright," Adir says, smiling and blinking a little. Together together? Well that didn't sound like Ilpholin. Good for her, he supposes.

So Darcy does know. Hm. Maybe they didn't get the cure yet? "Darcy, can I talk to you for a second?"

[Reinholdt]

[Lobby]

Ilpholin reverts to normal and will shrug and nod and say "Go ahead." To Darcy while untangling her hand. Unless Darcy seems not to want to for reasons currently unknown.

Her player's going to be gone most of the day too, so just presume Ilpholin stands there patiently waiting for Darcy and Adir to finish up and return.

Darcy follows Adir out of the room, giving one longing look back at Ilpholin.

[Lobby --> Stairwell]

Once they're alone, Adir faces her and frowns a bit. "Look, I gotta ask: how're we doing with Ilpholin's demon problem?"

Stairwell

"She agreed to get cured. I wouldn't be with... I couldn't be with a demon. I mean we haven't... not yet..." Okay, now Darcy's bright red.

[Murkus]

Stairwell

Adir laughs a little, his mood lightening. This is good news. "Great. Excellent, even. When's she gonna do it?"

Stairwell

"Well... now. But not here. I'll go with her while she goes through the conversion." Darcy says.

[Murkus]

[Stairwell]

"How long's that gonna take?" Adir says, frowning and glancing back toward the lobby entrance for a minute. "Cause to be honest, I'd prefer if she had the change done here. Where we can see her."

Stairwell

"Too bad," Darcy says coolly. "Is that all?"

[Murkus]

[Stairwell]

"Too bad?" Adir blurts. He furrows his brow, a little annoyed at the rude dismissal. "Look, Darcy, I'd just rather have more than one Watchman around while Ilpholin gets well."

Stairwell

"Adir, you know how paranoid Ilpholin is. Please, just back off and let me handle it, or she might change her mind and then I'll lose her forever," Darcy pleads.

[Murkus]

Stairwell

Adir glares at the shapeshifter for a second, weighing the other options, but eventually just shakes his head. "Arright, arright. Fine." The stag glances toward the lobby again. "Just make sure she comes back. We need whatever information she's got on those demons."

Stairwell

"Mhm..." Darcy says non-committally. She's given them information, the gnolls have given them information, they've been in and out of a demon city getting information. Information isn't the problem in her mind. "I have my phone if you need anything. Tell DC and Wenomir."

And she heads back to the Lobby unless stopped.

[Murkus]

Stairwell

Adir still doesn't like her tone, but there's not a whole lot he can do about it. Besides, he's mouthed off a lot worse than 'too bad' before, when it comes to other Watchmen. The stag won't stop her.

After they're gone, he gets out his pager and messages the three heads of Watchtower, explaining the situation.

Ilpholin's agreed to be cured. Darcy's taking her to do it now.

Wenomir's response to Adir is:

We shouldn't interfere, then. Let Darcy handle it.

[Airship Gantry]

Well, this place hasn't been used in a while, has it? Right now, there appears to be a young boy wandering in there and staring in awe at the airships.

Darcy pops off to her room to grab a bag she's already packed, then back to the lobby. "I'm ready to go whenever you are, love," she says to Ilpholin.
