WATCHTOWER 16: Quick and Dirty

[Murkus]

[Training Grounds]

"Ah. Oh! Nephew? One of Mscislaw's kids?" Adir asks, offering his hand to the young man. "Nice to meet you. I'm Adir."

[Morty]

[Training Grounds]

"Yes. Mścisław is my father. And I'm Siemko." The boy shakes Adir's hand, a little intimidated. "So you're the other of the two people from here who saved our village? I already spoke to Master Boris."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Master Boris? Oh, yeah. Bit of a stick in the mud, but he's alright," Adir grins his foolish, charming grin at the kid. "What's with the 'master' and 'lord'? We're not any better than you guys. Just call me Adir. Or Mr. Frescot." He wouldn't mind that. His poofy ears flick rowdily.

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

"Mr. Frescot is fine," Siemko says. "Uncle Wenomir says I shouldn't call people that either, but I'm just used to it."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Ah. Well, I guess it's not so bad. You're just being respectful. Respect goes a long ways,"Adir says, glancing over whatever equipment Siemko was using to train. "So. A psychic, huh? That must've thrown your dad for a loop."

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

Siemko's training equipment consists of several metal balls of varying size. He was lifting them with telekinesis.
"It did. We had no idea what was going on, until Uncle Wenomir told us. He says it must be the Nexus affecting me, because there are no psychics back home."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"The Nexus has a way with that. But if you're gonna have powers, I couldn't think of a better teacher," Adir says. He doesn't know DC all that well, but he's seen what kind of power the man has. "How're you takin' it?"

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

Siemko shrugs, unsure.
"It's really strange to be able to do all those things. And sort of scary. But it could be worse. At least I have someone to teach me and keep me safe. My mother always says that we need to count our blessings."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"It could be a lot worse than moving stuff with your mind," Adir says. "Heck, I wish I could do that. Don't be afraid."

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

Siemko nods.
"I'm trying not to be. And the people here are nicer than I thought. Apart from my uncle, I've met Mr. Boris, Mr. DC and a dwarf named Yazon."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Yeah. We're a swell bunch, aren't we?" Adir asks, with a little chuckle. Apart from Yazon, who he doesn't know, those three men are the biggest hardasses in Watchtower. And Siemko says they're nice. "Well, I suppose they are. Were you, uh, thinking of joining up?" His face takes on a more blank expression.

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

"Maybe," Siemko says. It has definetly gone through his mind. "Once I grow up, though. And train. It seems like a good way to use psychic powers."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Well, don't," Adir says, quite serious in this case. He raises his eyebrows at the kid, expecting questions. "Trust me, kid, you don't want to make a life out've this place."

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

Siemko blinks. "What do you mean?"

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Because you could die, Siemko," Adir says plainly, looking at the kid somberly. "You could get shot, or mauled, or worse. And me, or Wenomir, or some unlucky bastard would have to go tell your village how it happened." It's obvious the stag's been giving this some thought.

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

"My uncle told me the same thing," Siemko says uncertainly. "But I won't join until I grow up anyway. So I guess I have a lot of time to think about it," he adds.

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Wendy's smart, kid. You should listen," Adir says, smiling a little again. "What'd you wanna be before you got these powers?"

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

Siemko quirks his eyebrow when Adir calls his uncle "Wendy". Strange.
"I didn't really know. My elder brother is going to inherit the farm and fields. If those powers hadn't appeared, I would have learned a trade or the land would have been split between us, I suppose."

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"Well, I dunno about the life of a farmer, but I'd take that over saving the world," Adir says, finally grinning again. Sounds boring, to him, but it's better than risking your life. "That thing me and Boris fixed? With the ice demon? You should leave that to us. Go be happy. Get married. Make babies." He nods. "I suppose I'll let you get back to your training, at least. Just not too hard, arright?" He waggles a finger at the young psychic.

[Morty]

[Training Ground]

"My father said that fighting monsters and villains is all well and good, but someone has to grow the food the heroes are going to eat," Siemko says. It seems that when Mścisław isn't awed by the presence of his percieved betters, he shares some of his brother's mannerisms. "But I guess it is time for me to get back to training," he says and turns back to the metal orbs.

[Murkus]

[Training Ground]

"That's good advice, kid. Stick to it. It was nice meeting you, Siemko," Adir says, wandering off toward the tower.

[Reinholdt]

Front Entrance

Ilpholin arrives here, walking up the path, a little slowly. She pauses once she reaches the entrance though, looking down at the ground and scuffling her feet a bit. Maybe... maybe she shouldn't do this. Maybe she should just tell Darcy that she can't give up the demon... the drow and that she's sorry.

Even if it means disappointing Raril.
Disappointing Darcy.
Hell she's already disappointed them. Now it's just a matter of whether or not to tell them how disappointing she is.

Ilpholin's at the front gates, though doesn't seem to be moving forwards or backwards from there.

[Murkus]

Front Entrance

Ilpholin might see a familiar fey emerge from the tower, now dressed in some much warmer hunting clothes. Once Adir sees her, he picks up the pace a little, eventually half-jogging to close the distance. "Ilpholin?" He calls, smiling. "Hey. Haven't seen you in a while."

[Reinholdt]

Front Entrance

"Hello Adir." I don't think he's seen Ilpholin since the draegloth change, but I do know he was at the meeting to discuss what to do about it. Suggested tranqing her and dragging her back if I recall.

"I thought I heard you moved out?"

[Murkus]

Front Entrance

Oh, you're remembering correctly. Not like he's going to open with that, however. "I did. I still keep some of my stuff here in the Armory, though." The stag gives her a once-over. Does she still have that demon-tail? "So, uh, what're you here for?"

[Reinholdt]

Front Entrance

Yes, she does. Even has those small ram horns on her head too.

"I'm, uh... here to... see Darcy actually." Ilpholin explains, taking a bit longer than needed.

"Can't keep your weapons around the baby, huh?"

[Murkus]

Front Entrance

"Well, it was more a ruling of 'no high explosives in the house'," Adir says, grinning sheepishly. He rubs the back of his head a little. "So, Darcy? Um. Then what're you standing out here for? C'mon." He starts back toward the tower, gesturing with his free hand. The other's occupied with a high-caliber rifle.

[Reinholdt]

Front Entrance

"Right." Ilpholin goes to follow Adir.

"So what requires you to get high explosives now?"

[Murkus]

Front Entrance

"Well, I've always had a couple nasty things tucked away. But my Helldiver armor uses some hefty payloads," Adir explains while they walk, slinging the rifle back over his shoulder on a strap. "Not that I'll ever get a chance to use em', with how quiet things have been around here."
