Mookie is doing something charitable and nice, and still we are sarcastic?

Also: how can he afford that?

Even though Mookie didn't bother to explain it, this plot point doesn't need a lot of explaining: The king thought he had the ultimate anti seer/scrying tool with the scrying-tap he invented. But Dominic and Celesto quickly found two loopholes in his system: non-orb scrying and being super-seers. So the system wasn't really helping him all that much and probably cost a lot of cattle-power and magic to maintain so he scrapped it and things returned to how they were before.

I wad kind of hoping Mookie would use Acibek's Principle to handwave the combination of such disparate forces. It would nicely explain away the unnatural circles to boot.

Well, he's doing a good thing here, no doubt. It's just that the opportunity for a joke presented itself, and as much as I like this arc, there often isn't much to write after reading the latest comic right now.
If it looked like I was making fun of him giving to charity, I can say that's not at all what I had in mind.

Isn't Klo Tark a part of the heart of magic as an angel? Has it been stated that the heart of magic is made up of souls yet or is that just speculation (that is almost definitely true)?

    Evidence:
    God is us
    Souls explode
Magic was being powered by souls in Fullmetal Alchemist
    Mookie's mentioned Heaven a lot
Heaven is a comet = METAL

Yeah, Dominion Cosmology is crazy-times. It used to be Planar until Mookie got into Astronomy and now exploding souls are like stars but Heaven appears to still be distinct from the place that the HoM hangs out (I'm calling it phlogiston).

Basically, we have no idea. The HoM is as likely to be made up of the souls of magic users as it is to be made of pudding.

I was more referring to the fact that that entire damned arc was ostensibly about finding Celesto so that Team Dominus could sneak past the castle wards, but that was all promptly forgotten in favor of Dominic hanging out naked in a young boy's head.

    Time-Travel Shenanigans are afoot!

Klo Tark is, and always has been, The Green Sun the Heart of Magic. Rose and Dave Nimmel et al are going to somehow affect things through the Time Bubble to push Klo Tark into Dominion and, in the process, result in the creation of the Heart of Magic.

My first thought was that the necklace was part of the Klo Tark's engine or it's power source or something, but that would be stupid in a pretty obvious, immediate way, so it's probably something else.

I can accept the things in panels 6 and 7 as noses. Cartoonish and amateurish maybe, but I still recognise them as noses. But what is that bird beak thing in panel 8? I look at it and my mind goes blank. It's not even that the king is supposed to have a massive or grotesque nose because it looks like everyone else's in 6. So why?

    Cheep cheep.

I was so going to type that. Kudos! It made me laugh that DJ's all "Something's HAPPENING." /sad-ish face(ish) Can't have that in our Dominic Deegan. That or he figured out that since something is happening to him, that must make him a villain or somesuch, since the protagonist of this comic isn't supposed to -do- anything. Is that the face of a character becoming self-aware in the comic?

Soooo, is Mookie introducing time travel now? Can a scry spell even do that? If wizards can just go back in time, why not just stop DJ in the past where he is weaker and more vulnerable?

There was a mention of chronomancy during the university arc but I think it was just there for -surprise surprise- a bad pun.

Yes. And with Klo Tark, too. Dom scried on him fighting the storm of souls centuries ago and past-Tark responded.

Only to create stable time loops though. The present has to remain the same, so you can't stop DJ's rise to power.

Well, with Klo Tark, Dominic didn't physically go to the past and help kill Evil Elf Dude, he more or less just uploaded information into Klo Tark's head. But with the gang here, it looks like they are going to step out of the scry bubble and help mini Klo Tark, which seems to be the opposite of "seeing" into the past. But who knows, maybe all they will do here is more uploading.

It's established that scrying can affect the past, and therefore the present, thanks to the original shenanigans with Klo Tark, and with all the magical hoobajooba that's piling up in this story arc it wouldn't surprise me if scrying on the past is going to affect baby Klo which is also going to do something to illuminate what's going on with DJ's attempt to reach another world.

I can see approximately where Mookie's going with this, and that worries me. Because normally that means he's going to swerve right off the rails.

That last panel, taken without context, sums up so perfectly what's wrong with Dominic Deegan.

I'm more concerned about the other direction - The protagonists who are surprised that nothing is happening.

They have been observing for, what, 5 minutes? Maybe an hour?
Who knows how long it took Klo-Tark to enter the other world? Maybe it took hours, or even days?

I find it hilarious that the protagonists think something went wrong just because they didn't instantly get the knowledge they were looking for.

It's probably just more cargo cult writing. Mookie saw this "two dramatic things happening at once" thing somewhere else and decided to copy it without understanding why or how it's done.

Heck, how do they even know that they're looking at Klo Tark? For all they know, that kid's just going to linger a few hours and die while some other kid on the other side of the wreckage escapes to the Prime.

I can't be arsed to find the comic right now, but it was referred as such within the past year -- so sometime after the HoM was introduced.

It is stolen nomenclature from D&D: the Prime Material Plane

I have to admit that I found panel 1 to be somewhat funny. The sarcasm and the look of Smuggly's eyeball amused me. Smuggly's character (whatever was there to begin with) was ruined a long time ago, so all that's left is for me to salvage what amusement I can.

And what better way to build tension than to have your villain scared of the heroes before the final battle has even begun?

I don't see it as ruining tension. David doesn't look afraid, just concerned, and he should be,
It was already established that Miranda can at least delay the king's plans, so he is right to take her seriously.
