"Heh, good guess. He was complaining for the rest of the time he was here. I'm surprised he stuck it out to the end, though. I almost thought he was gonna quit on me halfway through." Lisa said.

A raging river of blood. Hate. Pain. Unease. A graveyard. Death. Panic. Enslavement.

Trium's broadcast does little to comfort Spec. In fact, Trium might get the distinct impression that Spec is tenaciously clinging to her negative emotions, as if she's breathing only by virtue of their intensity.

And they are intense. They're rending her heart and gnawing at her sanity.

"That! That's wrong! And my life is forfeit because of it!"

Spec sobs, pointing at the television accusatorily before attempting to hug Trium and hang onto her like a she were a little, frightened child.

She's shaking involuntarily.

On the television, an advertisement for the gladiatorial games Spec signed away her life to plays with an anime version of her former self promoting it. If the commercial is to be believed, the company owning the rights to the tournament is setting up shop right here in the Nexus. And they've placed a jaw-dropping fortune in platinum as a bounty to be exchanged for information as to Spec's whereabouts or her safe return to the company. She's their big star and they're willing to resort to anything to get her back.

Vierzt smiles and tousles his own mussed hair. He grabs a towel and wraps it around his waist, following her out.

A set of damp footprints lead Vierzt back toward his kitchen, where Gelley's bent over the refrigerator, rummaging here and there. She's still wearing a towel at least, but hers is also wrapped around the waist. The other towel she borrowed has been spun 'round her hair like a cocoon.

"Beer?" She asks, straightening to her full and unimpressive height with a bottle in either hand.

Trium, naturally, makes no attempt to stop Spec from clinging to her, instead, if the assassin allows her to, pulling her into her lap, and holding her tightly, gently tracing the silver mark she left on her girlfriend, hopefully reminding her of the promise Trium made to her.

"No. It isn't. They're nowhere near as powerful here as they were where you're from, nor are you alone this time...

The first thing to do is get you out of here. Once we're somewhere they can't find, we can plan, figure out how to actually get them to back off, not just hide you from them."

With that, the pair may find themselves transported to Sparrow's Fall.

Vierzt smiles and accepts silently.

Khair sits on her bed, staring at her pill bottle.
The last month or so has been... mixed.
On one hand, she's been healthier than ever, and her aches have been almost totally absent. She can breathe, she can even run a little... normally it would have been a huge help to her relationship with Maeve.
But the mood swings went a long way in stifling that.
She pokes her head outside the door, hoping she can find Maeve and apologize before she says anything like she did this morning...

[Maeve's]

Maeve can, if Khair thinks to look there, be found curled up on the end of a tattered, threadbare, couch in the attic, head resting on her knees, though she doesn't react when the catgirl enters.

[Maeve's]
Khair sits at the other end of the couch, taking a while before she works up the nerve to talk.
I'm sorry, Maeve.
It's my fault, the side effects aren't an excuse... I don't want to hurt you like that again...
She shakily reaches for her cheek.

[Maeve's]

Maeve sighs, but doesn't keep Khair from touching her cheek, and reaches up to gently lay her hand over her girlfriend's (?) when she has.

"I know you don't, love... And don't blame yourself, okay? Knowing that it's a side-effect doesn't mean that you don't feel how you do at the time."

((What exactly happened earlier, anyway?))

((Most likely, a particularly bad moodswing lead her to say something pretty awful related to Maeve working at a human-supremacist establishment.))
Khair moves in to hug her tightly.
I know, but I still hurt you so much... barely a month as girlfriends and already I'm pulling this crap.

I don't know how but I need to fix this.

((Ouch. Speaking of which, I probably ought to actually, like, have her show up to work at some point...

Anyway, I'm going to have to deadtime for a while now.))

Maeve returns the hug, also rather tightly, though probably not enough so to make Khair uncomfortable.

"I don't know how either, but I'll do my best to help..."

Khair nuzzles close, rubbing her eyes.
'M sorry, Maeve. I'm already a terrible girlfriend.

Maeve kisses Khair's forehead, gently scratching her ears.

"No you aren't..."

Khair sniffs, rubbing her eyes again.
Maybe we should go somewhere.

Maeve nods, going to pick Khair up, and gently carry her downstairs.

"Do you have anywhere in mind, hon?"

I just have to figure out how to get them to Antarctica. I mean a cold place that totally is not Antarctica.))
She shakes her head, gently letting go to stand.
I don't know but... let's go somewhere.

She won't despair just yet, but... What else can she do?

"I'm their property! They peddle recordings of me battling on street corners and you can buy my voice for your robots or yourself at one of their stores! Your words give me hope, but I..."

"I...I can't ask you to fight this war for me, Trium! I love you and I don't want to see a bounty on your head for my sake! They want me alive, but I don't know what they'd do to you! If they get me, you have to live because you're the only good thing in my life, Trium!"

The only good thing in her life.

((Antarctica might be tricky, but maybe, what with the free food and all, Maeve has managed to save up enough that they could rent a car and go out to a cabin in the woods/hunting lodge/other remote building thing her family used to use that's been abandoned since they died, to get away from everything for a while?

Also, delaying posting IC until we figure out what they're going to be doing.))

"You don't need to ask, Spec. I freely volunteer, as I have done since I met you; I am sworn to do whatever is necessary to keep you safe, and that oath was given with full knowledge of what it entailed.

Also, it would not be the first time I have had a bounty on my head, and I have lived for thousands of years despite that. To kill me is hardly easy... Besides which, do you think that if they take you, and you have to go back, when to do so would cause you so much pain, I would not be hurt by your suffering?", she asks quietly, gently stroking her girlfriend's hair, and planting a soft kiss on her cheek, smiling gently at her.

Maeve slips an arm around the catgirl, pulling her close against her side.

"My family used to have a cabin out in the woods, and I'm pretty sure no-one ever took it over after they died... How does that sound?"

Khair nods gently, snuggling closer.
Sounds lovely, but how are we going to get there?

Maeve smiles, clearly glad Khair is feeling better.

"I've been saving up what I can from work to surprise you with something nice... I guess maybe we could use that to rent something to go up there with?"

((...Do I even want to know what that's referring to? ))

Khair smiles weakly.
Oh, Maeve... you're too good to me.
She kisses her head gently.

Maeve kisses her ears, shaking her head.

"No I'm not. I'm as good as you deserve, or at least I try to be..."

With that, she goes to gently lead Khair out.

Maeve is probably holding on fairly tightly as well, and smiles happily as they head out.

Also, I've been sort of toying with the 'vehicle' that Maeve rents being a horse, since I'm not entirely sure she knows how to drive. And also it amuses me and/or seems appropriate what with Khair wanting to be outside, for some reason. But I'm not entirely sure that would work with Khair's illness and such; thoughts?))

((Outside is besty. Also, Khair would need to use her masky-doodle to breathe in the cold winter air for extended periods, but she'd be okay. Or she could know how to drive.))
