Reelshka's ears twitch.
"It's going to be on Natalie's homeworld. We're going to have to find a way to let you go this far away from your tree."

[Gullara]

[Main Cabin]

"I can take a branch to go away for a little bit." Salix suggests. It's only a matter of hours, though. Whether or not that's enough is up for debate.

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

Reelshka taps her fang in thought.
"We'll think about it and come up with something. The party is still over a week away. In the meantime... would you like to learn how to read, Salix?"

[Gullara]

[Main Cabin]

"Learn how to read? What's that mean?" Salix asks. She hasn't even heard the word before. Or if she has, she can't remember it now.

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

"If you know how to read, you can understand things like this letter," Reelshka says, waving the letter in the air.

[Gullara]

[Main Cabin]

"Oooh, sure. Are you gonna teach me?" Salix says. If Reelshka thinks it's a good idea, Salix will trust her.

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

"Maybe I will teach you, maybe someone else will. I'm not sure how good a teacher I am. I'll come tell you once I've decided something," Reelshka says.

[Gullara]

[Main Cabin]

"Okay. That sounds good." Salix says. "Can I keep the letter?" She holds out her hands for it.

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

"Sure, here you go." Reelshka hands Salix the letter. Now to figure out how to make sure the little dryad can go to Natalie's party and how to teach her to read...

[Gullara]

[Main Cabin]

"Thank you! I'm gonna go out to Jamie's garden again now. Bye!" Salix will run off and do just that, unless Reelshka wants to stop her.

Jamie's Garden

After Salix has been out there for a minute, a rather large beetle lands near the garden.

...and it's getting bigger, oddly. It quickly grows to be a foot across, and then hair of all things begins to grow out of it's back.

Salix shifts over to walk the beetle with interest when it first appears. But when it starts getting quite large, she shuffles back just a bit. That's so weird.

It only gets weirder. The Beetle warps, expands, morphs, grows... until it has become what appears to be a cross between Jamie and Quinn. She isn't wearing proper clothes, but instead has fur and chitin covering her like clothes should. She forms in a sitting pose, and looking straight at Salix.

"Hello," She says.

[Gullara]

[Jamie's Garden]

Salix blinks at the person, looking very confused. "How the heck did you do that?" She asks, forgetting her manners (which she never really learned anyway).

Jamie's Garden

"It's what I can do. I can take the forms of things and mix them." She idly reaches over and touches a flower in the garden, taking a small sample. Not a very interesting genetic code, but the flower is pretty.

[Gullara]

[Jamie's Garden]

"That's weird. How do you do that? Do you just look at things and change into them?" The dryad presses.

[Lost_Deep]

Jamie's Garden

"No. First I need to touch them, so I understand them." A flower similar to the one she just touched comes out of her head. "Can I touch you? Some people don't want to be touched, so I need to ask. It's... polite."

[Gullara]

[Jamie's Garden]

"Uh, sure." Salix holds her hand out, palm up. This is actually pretty cool, and she wants to see more.

Jasmine, for that is this odd girl's name, reaches out to touch the hand with the tip of her fingers. Salix will feel a few tiny pinpricks, as Jasmine takes a few samples of her DNA.

...what does a dryad's DNA code for, anyway?

That's an excellent question!
...and I have no idea what the answer is. I would assume it's similar in function to human DNA. It's a toss up whether or not the magical part of her nature has anything to so with DNA, though.

Salix watches Jasmine closely, waiting for something to happen.

"In that case, Miss, this is for you." He will hand over the envelope and turns towards the Infirmary to find Jamie herself.

Jamie, for her part, can be found just exiting the Infirmary door, stretching with a smile in the sunlight. She feels like she's been cooped up inside for days.

After a moment, Jasmine's hair will change to leaves similar to Salix's. "Very interesting," She will say. "The combination of plant and animal is... unique." It's very smooth, almost seamless.

[Gullara]

[Jamie's Garden]

Salix claps her hands as Jasmine makes her change. "That's sooo cooool. You can do that for anything you touch?What else can you change?"

"Anything alive, I think, and I can change myself in any way." The leaf hair begins to grow again, quickly spreading onto the ground. After a moment, flowers will begin to sprout from the hair, quickly becoming so dense the green leaves can't be seen anymore.

Outside the Infirmary

"Excuse me, are you Jamie Druid? If so, I have an envelope for you." He'd say letter, but he doesn't know for certain what is inside and it's not his job to know. He does show it to her, so she can see that it is addressed to a Jamie Druid.

Outside the Infirmary

"Huh? Oh, hi. Yup, that's me!" Jamie declares, looking curious as she reaches for the envelope.

She'll take the letter...AND OPEN IT!

Outside the Infirmary

The envelope will be handed over. Afterwards, the deliveryman will begin to return to his motorcycle.

Inside the envelope is an invitation to Natalie's birthday party, stating a date, a method to reach it in the grounds of Pearhouse Manor and the information that Natalie is unaware of the invitation of Jamie to her party and should not be told to keep it a surprise.

Outside the Infirmary

Jamie smiles broadly as she reads the invitation, and checks the date.

...then starts wondering what she should bring as a gift.

"Thank you!" she calls to the deliveryman.

"Just my job, don't worry." And unless anything further is called for, he'll continue on his way.

Jamie nods, and slips inside to ponder gifts.
