Are people selling keys for 50 cents now?

Dont think so maybe it has something to do with current autumn steam sales. With -75% sale a 20$ game cost 5$ for a day or 12h.

Huh? so I should pay more for a game on sale than for a game not on sale but with the same price? FTL is 7 keys at it's non sale price of $10, but Darksiders is 15 keys at it's sale price of $5? Is that what you are saying?

It depends on the crates really. Those 43-49s you have are not worth too much at the moment - market is over-saturated so the only buyers are going to be people who will hold onto them for the next year+ in hopes the price will rise and mass uncraters looking for unusuals.

Long story short, if you are just trying to clear inventory, you might just want to do 10 or 20 to a scrap. If you are looking to sell them for a profit, you are in for a long ride but can probably find a better price with time and effort. The big question is if getting an extra scrap out of the trade is worth an extra week+ of work.

Does Crate 40 really go for that much? I have one, and I've heard people talk about it being expensive, but it seems kind of strange for one that's still dropping.

Two reasons for this price.
1, Low drop rate like 1 of 10000 crates is salvaged
2, Price of items inside
Crate series #40 can drop only 5 strange items or unusual hat. Lowest price item is strange mantreads (4 keys) while most expensive is strange huntsman (20+ keys) and unusual hat is usualy even more expensive.
