I wonder what those purple thingies are... I bet ripping one apart is going to bite the group in the ass sooner or later.

Also, I can't help but shake the feeling that seeing them like that from behind in the last panel is supposed to show that they lost something else, but what? Did Forgath ever had a backpack or Kin?

Eh, I think it's just a transition shot.

Semi-related, Forgath's got the helmet, Anymug and his holy symbol/mace. No confirmation on whether he managed to keep any healing potion.

Forgath lost it in the fight with Not Walter. That's why his mace was in Minmax' pack instead of his own. All he had was the mace, the Anymug, and This Is a Helmet.[/quote]

Their own fault for attacking the other party unprovoked without taking the zombies into account. They would have had much better chance allying with the former, even temporarily. Very bad threat level assessment skill, here.

Yeah, what's up with that? I'd somehow imagine an all-Kin party to have a decent average intelligence.

Maybe they didnt see the zombies until they had already engaged in combat? Also, I have to wonder, has the maze gone off the rails now or what? I mean, minmax and crew HAVE to be on a different path of the maze than they were supposed to. For all they know, they just turned around in a half circle and are heading back to the start! Thats assuming they hadnt already had this problem when escaping from not walter and the room of the upside down trees. I cant imagine to proper exit was to leap through a window and plummet 40 feet into a river of healing potion.

*EDIT* Looks like I was right, minmax and crew had managed to run a solid distance away from the zombie crowd and the tri kins attacked on sight.

People are less intelligent in groups. It's called the mob mentality I think.

On another note, maybe they should pull those arrows out and drink the potion out of the helmet? You know, heal up before running off into Gods only know what? That's probably crazy talk though.

They probably wanna get some distance from the oblivion hole and all that, just incase one or more of the enemy kin squad somehow manages to get up through it or it grows bigger or something.

I'd be more worried about the zombies making it through to be honest, they're a lot more dangerous.

Nah, that would be best case for zombie killing. I mean, thats a narrow hole. All they would have to do is chop off heads, or knock the zombies into the oblivion hole one by one. Zombies are only dangerous in swarms. Pretty sure minmax managed to take out like 9 zombies or more in the general melee.

But if you erase them with the oblivion hole, you don't get experience since they never existed.

Now I don't like some of his reasoning, but the end result is how I had been thinking of the effect of the holes anyway: as if you just went back and erased the object from the existing strips without changing anything else, along with removing it from their memories in the present.
Explanations like these (often called "Word of God") are a bit of a pet peeve for me. J.K. Rowling is particularly notorious for this. Consequestly, I subscribe to the "dead author theory."

On an unrelated note, anyone else get a little bit of a TMI vibe from the February 15th post?

I'm OK with it since he's just explaining how he wants things to work and not randomly changing major aspects of the characters after the fact like Rowling did.

I wonder if that's the last we'll see of the zombies. They kinda seem like a "oh god, not these guys again"-type of enemy.

The first room is presumably different for each party right? I wonder how the zombies would handle the "you have to be genuinly surprised/confused" door.

Well they definitely wouldnt understand what they are doing. They probably would shuffle right on through the trap.

Well, Minmax himself proved that you need some base level of understanding in order to be confused ("No, the other up!" "Oh, sorry."). I don't think the zombies are intelligent enough to be confused about anything.
