Don't you just hate it when you have indigestion? From fricken' sausages? Every single time I have them, I get it afterwards. Sometimes barely any pain, other times.. yeah.

Doesn't happen to me from sausages... but it happens to me all the time with pizza if I don't dab the grease off with a napkin first. (My friends make fun of me when I do that, but it's very much worth it.) But I digress: yes, I do hate getting indigestion.

Also, no translation error. I mixed the terms up in my head, that's where the error appeared, and unlike when it usually happens, I didn't catch it this time.

And there's nothing wrong with our prepositions! In means in something, on means on something. Apart from that, I really can't explain it any further because it's such a basic part of language it can't be explained... I shall try though.

We say in the hospital in reference to where one was born because it is kind of inside the hospital. To be on it would require being on the outside, either on the walls or on top of it.

It makes perfect sense, it just can't be adequately explained.

Yes, your hospital makes more sense than my hospital, but this doesn't prove the general case. Not that I'm saying I'm right, as my hunch is biased, and, on top of that, nothing more than a hunch. And I lack adequate examples at the moment...

It's also fairly consistent--when talking about an object capable of containing things (hospitals, cups, cities) we always talk about things being IN them; when talking about objects that don't contain things (trays, tables, counters) then we talk about things being ON them.

I'm sure someone will come along with exceptions to this rule, but I can't think of any off the top of my head!

Yes, and in five cases out of those six, we use the same preposition. Most of those are a bit too straightforward to allow for inconsistencies. I'm not really up for a great preposition inconsistency hunt right now, but I do want to point out that they actually are there and that you as a non-native speaker quite often stumble upon them quite often.

Phew, what a day. Eclipse decided that my whole Java assignment was broken (despite working perfectly), and erased all the .class files from the computer. And now it refuses to recreate them, putting the blame on some completely untraceable error in the project as a whole (it's not in the code). This is supposed to be the high seat of science and technology, so then why are all of our computers so bad?

Thankfully, the source code is still intact. I'll have to copy it and rebuild the project workspace somewhere else. If that doesn't work, I'll be really annoyed...

Apologies. It's difficult to put the proper emphasis on a word when typing it. I assure you, there would be no confusion had I spoken that phrase to you.
And in a way, there was a translation error in a way. The thought processes didn't properly translate from stored knowledge to speech.

As I just found out one of the Intellectual *******s watches Doctor Who as well (I told you guys, he was the one who blushed and mumbled allons-y as a confession), I suggested asking him along to the other dude. he seemed sorta miffed, I dunno why.
