A 428
Lacking any specific mention, it defaults to their class level just like any other spellcasting class.

A 427 Yes.
There's no special mention otherwise. The spell area (40' radius) is much smaller than the spell range (400' + 40'/level), so it's the spellcaster's choice whether the affected area includes themselves.

Q 429
What, exactly, are 'spell parameters' (as mentioned in the Geomancer class ability Spell Versatility)? It mentions casting restrictions and switching the ability used for DC calculation, but could it also extend to caster level (eg. using your highest CL for determining durations, etc...) or sacrificing slots to power abilities/feats (such as spontaneously casting cure/inflict spells)?

Not sure about classes, but one way to get it as a class skill regardless of class is to be a Silverbrow Human (Dragon Magic).

Q432
Can a wizard use the Scribe Scroll feat to create scrolls of spells he knows through his classes other than Wizard? If he knows divine spells through another class, can he scribe arcane scrolls of them?

Q 433: I'm reposting my question about handle animal with clearer information because I think it was confused with another part of the skill. According to the SRD: (non epic mind you)
Special
You can use this skill on a creature with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2 that is not an animal, but the DC of any such check increases by 5. Such creatures have the same limit on tricks known as animals do.
My question was with this, can it be used to rear a creature that qualifies because of its INT being lower than 3 by ability drain or penalty, and still have it reared AFTER it restores by natural or magical means?
--------------------------------------------------------
Q 434: Is it possible to create items specifically with negative ability scores. Like Circlet of Wisdom -4, aside from cursed items, I mean on purpose.
--------------------------------------------------------
Q 435: In my party we have a Level 1 Petal Psion that used part of her gold to buy a War Beast Tiger. Does this change the ECL of the party as RAW?Last edited by killem2; 2013-01-09 at 12:13 PM.

Yes. Once it has the feat it can follow the procedure listed on the feat to produce scrolls. That means that a multiclassed cleric/wizard who gains the scribe scroll feat can scribe scrolls of the spells hat he has access to (be them cleric or wizard spells).
A432b
No. If a character who has scribe scroll (its class is irrelevant) knows divine spells he cannot produce arcane spells. If somehow he gets to convert the divine spells (via feats for example) to arcane spells then it would be able to scribe an arcane scroll, it would still not be able to learn it as a wizard spell (if that is what you are thinking) because it wouldn't be on the wizard spell list.

If the creature was ability drained it would work. RAW is silent on what happens if the INT is restored.Last edited by Andezzar; 2013-01-09 at 12:30 PM.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
A 435 No/Talk to your DM.
550 gp gets you an untrained 6 HD Warbeast Tiger.A warbeast based on a wild animal must be reared for one year (Handle Animal DC 15 + HD of the warbeast), then trained for 2 months (Handle Animal DC 20 + HD of the warbeast).
It's clear your DM is comfortable making adjustments to the rules since the Petal is recommended as a Cohort only, not a PC. The Psion is ECL 4 (1 HD of Fey, +2 LA, and 1 level of Psion) barring shenanigans, but it doesn't have Handle Animal as a class skill. Even if the DM were to throw in 14 months of skilled work with the Warbeast Tiger, the Psion still would have no way of communicating her desires to the animal. If the Tiger obeys the Petal player's wishes anyway, you should ask your DM why that's happening. In particular, what's to keep some enemy with decent Handle Animal skill from coming in and simply giving the Tiger commands to attack the PCs? It's not like the Psion has any ability to overcome that.
If the DM hasn't already had the untrained Warbeast Tiger devour the Petal Psion as a snack, you should talk about the Handle Animal rules and out-of-rules favoritism.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
Sorry, he allowed her to take the skill knowledge feat from UA, and determined it was trained before well before hand. (We couldn't figure the age for petals so we went by some pixie figure or something and she's 112 years old).
I personally have zero issue with it. We need a melee because we have only a half giant pyschic warrior played by an insecure teen who is shy and doesn't do anything to lead us.
But you answered it, I didn't think it figured into the ECL in that situation.Last edited by killem2; 2013-01-09 at 02:19 PM.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
Q436
As a DM, I'm working on a trap I think the Wilder in the party is going to walk into, but after giving it some thought, I wanted to ask...
The basic idea is, something jumps out of the shadows to try and gank the surprised party member who (I suspect) will have wandered in alone. The damage will be done as non-lethal damage for various reasons.
However, the Wilder always (or close enough) has "Shared Pain" active between herself and her psicrystal.
Since a psicrystal is a construct, non-lethal damage does not affect it...
I suspect it WILL be under the effect of a Vigor buff, but how does share pain work when one of the subjects is immune and the other is not? Will it simply act to halve the damage done to the Wilder, since the psicrystal will always be able to hold up the connection?

You take half damage from all attacks that deal hit point damage to you, and the subject takes the remainder. The amount of damage not taken by you is taken by the subject.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
A437: I think Polymorph would do the job. Just Polymorph someone into their own species, but it specifies that you can choose the smaller details such as hair color or height. You could make changes as small as that of Disguise Self, or greater. That might be too high level for your purposes, but it does come with the added benefit of not being Will disbelief.
A438: Yes, it absolutely does. Detect Magic (and Arcane Sight by extension) are great ways of breaking through illusion spells in general. See here.
While I'm here, I'd like to re-ask:
Q425
Is there any spell that tells you a creature's name?

Darkvision and Fast Healing are a function of total creature hit dice, so they go up with class levels. Feral special attacks are granted based solely on monster hit dice.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
Q441
A cleric has the Trickery Devotion feat. Let's say he's character level 5, so he's allowed to have his simulacrum for 5 minutes per day. Does this mean that when he activates his 1/day ability, the simulacrum exists whenever he wants until it has existed for 5 minutes, and then after that he has to use three turn/rebukes to get another daily use, which lets him have the simulacrum for another 5 minutes? Or does it mean he gets 5 minutes of simulacrum per day grand total, but his 1/day and another 1/day per 3 T/RUs are used every time he produces the simulacrum?
Q442
Do Cloistered Clerics have the option of giving up their automatic Knowledge domain for the Knowledge Devotion feat? Does doing this prohibit them from also trading one of their two chosen domains for a Devotion feat?

Are monster hit dice equal to racial hit dice? I believe the correct term would be Racial Hit Dice

Yes to your first point. With Trickery Devotion "when he activates his 1/day ability, the simulacrum exists whenever he wants until it has existed for 5 minutes [at level 5], and then after that he has to use three turn/rebukes to get another daily use".
A 442
Yes, Cloistered and other Clerics can trade any domain for the associated domain feat. They are still limited to the maximum of 3 total domain feats for Clerics, of which 1-3 must be obtained by conversion.
