Aric smiles, that's a bit better.
Ice...that's just peachy.
Aric shrugs, walks over to the wall and pokes it with the tip of his spear.

It cracks, slightly. There is definitely something moving beyond the ice wall, swiftly floating between the cover of trees. Something large.

[Aric Kale]

Challenge Accepted...
Are you ready, Ash? if so, shoot a little flame at my spear.
Aric points the spear away from himself, so as to be safe from any impending flames.

[Recaiden]

A burst of fire flares up and washes over the edge of the spear. The heat ramps up all around the two of them.
Where the snow isn't being melted, it's shaping up to be a real blizzard around here.

[Aric Kale]

Aric laughs before he grabs his spear with both hands and swings it like a baseball bat, attempting to cleave a violent gash with his, now flaming, spear! Burn, Charrend! Melt the ice and vent your fury!

[Recaiden]

The spear slashes through the ice, and the heat released melts away most of that segment. A way forward is cleared. Ash rushes on through it.

Should Aric follow, there will come a rush of movement above them, and the icewall will re-seal, water flowing up the sides of the tree and back over the icicles that were left.

Aric does follow, and takes note of the reforming of the wall, intriguing...
He does find that he's a little winded, a combination of the cold air and his recent attack upon the wall. Not to.mention his leg is still injured...

More flames flow towards the spear. He may well need them again.

A gust of icy air and a large flurry of snow tear past Aric, and though he might not see it, it contains something else, a thing trying to slash at him with sharp, icy claws.

A barking alarm called out by the wolf might give him enough warning.

Yes, flames are good. And barking canines, those are useful as well. Aric instinctively turns and raises his shield, if that attack had any force behind it, he should stumble backwards a few steps.

[Recaiden]

There was enough force to send him back a step or too. Not a great deal of it, but enough to push him back. He might find traces of ice left on the shield, but the should melt away quickly, because there's a circle around the wolf where the snow isn't hitting the ground, and he's still within it.
There's an even smaller circle around them where even water doesn't hit the ground, just drifting steam.

The thing that attacked has dived back into the cover of some trees, Probably all he could tell was that it was small.

Aric stumbles back, swiftly righting himself, Ash, did you recognize whatever that was, and did you see where it went? Aric is careful to stay within the circle of non snowiness...
He has also stopped shivering, the cold forgotten in the heat of the moment.

Ash nods. The flames show a curved, birdlike shape surrounded by six-point things, snowflakes? The wolf points towards a large tree a short distance away, and advances slowly towards it, growling.

((Due to my faulty memory, this is not the same wolf I originally thought it was. Though none of the events change, the answer to your PM question is a bit different. Though it can't be tamed, since it's actually intelligent (you noted it at least understands common), it could accompany Aric.))

Aric slowly walks forward, spear extended. Now that is interesting...

)(Ah, I shee. Well a wolf companion would be awesome, whether it leaves the Hunting Grounds with Aric or not. )(

The shapes in the fire try to communicate a plan. A wolf in the front, a human behind, with spear held back ready to thrust or throw. Some sort of light, and the birdshape swooping down at the wolf, to be stabbed.

Ash rushes up towards the indicated tree, leaving a slightly higher trail of fire in their steps, and jumps up, briefly revealing the shape hiding in the branches.

((And the wolf could benefit from having a human around, for a few reasons. Especially one proven to be a worthy opponent)).

Aric nods in compliance, moving over to stand behind the Wolf, spear at the ready.

The flames reach up from around the wolf to reach up the tree, starting bits of bark crackling and licking at the creature.

There is a rush of ice and snow, breaking a short distance into Ash's circle, as it springs from the branches and dives at the wolf, a rain of icicles filling the air around it. It appear properly distracted.

Aric leaps into the air, thrusting forward into center mass of the creature!

Aric hits! The creature is run through, and visible as a large bird of prey, covered in blue feathers. Just for an instant though, as with it in place, a wave of fire washes over it, and soon there's nothing left.

The heat around Ash recedes, leaving it colder, but warming.

Success! A hit! Thank you Ash. I would've been defeated alone. Aric shoulders his shield and stands there, before slowly sinking ti the ground, his leg is bleeding...the temperature change is nice, though.

Ash nods. It's a slightly strange gesture from a canine. It then nudges him, concerned that he's sinking to the ground. That was not the only monster of the forest, and the heat-magics it used may attract unwelcome interest.

The flames fall back, gathering only around the wolf's feet.

[Aric Kale]

Aric chuckles, tearing off his pant leg. He crafts the fabric into a crude bandage, forcing himself to his feet; the spear now serving as a walking staff.
Where to now? all my supplies are back where we fought...

[Recaiden]

It's not like there's a trail of snow leading back that way.

Ash listens, decides he probably needs his supplies, and sets off that way. The flames lean that direction, as if fanned by some nonexistent breeze.

[Aric Kale]

Aric glances over and laughs! By Eliam! you're smarter than I! Aric will follow the path, checking to see if Ash joins him...

[Recaiden]

Ash follows. This person is interesting. And supplies could include food. And they made a pretty good team there. She does wonder who Eliam is.

[Aric Kale]

Indeed, supplies contain food. And he has a cloak, and medicine.
They are quite a good team. Eliam is my deity... Hmm, was that just random, did he sense the wolf's wonder? Maybe he just felt like sharing...

[Recaiden]

Ash laments that wolves cannot talk, and just nods. Then goes and paws at any food that can be scented within his supplies.

The flames flare up when he mentions that though. Maybe they're angry. Maybe it was helping to communicate.

[Aric Kale]

They should arrive at the supplies unmolested, a few fanged squirrels are rooting around the sack, but the Wolf's presence alone should ward then off.
Perfect, they didn't get in my haversack. that wouldnt have ended well...
Aric wraps the cloak around his shoulders and reaches into his haversack; hand, elbow, arm, shoulder? how deep is this thing!? Oh, it's a bag of holding...
He pulls his arm out of the bag and out comes a freshly killed rabbit.
Dinner. Figured you were hungry.

Food! Probably not as tasty as Aric would have been, but perfectly good. Ash takes the rabbit in their jaws and lets flames wash over it, cooking/burning it before digging in.

The wolf doesn't seem to notice that it's a bag of holding. It's just a bag.

Aric would've been crunchy and metallic...
Anyways, Aric digs through his bag (it's not a purse!) and finds some ointment and clean bandages. By the time the wolf is done with her meal, Aric should be done with his wound treatment.

Forest

A single Chrysalid has managed to find its way from its former hive beneath Inside, all the way to this forest. It pokes around the trees, looking around and sniffing for where its hive might be.
