Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
Because, in his earliest appearances, he had red hair. Also, that's not so much a mullet as a pompadour. Think Conan O'Brien.

Yeah, the
Spoiler"Come on, come on... HIT ME!" line is a direct reference to The Dark Knight.
Which confirms red hood boy is a pre-clown Mr. J."And yet, will we ever come to an end of discussion and talk if we think we must always reply to replies? Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
Oh I know Lex had hair, and he's a kid now so it's fine if they give him some. I'm just confused by the mullet. Now I don't know who Conan O'Brien is, but I checked the wiki and it doesn't look like what Lex has, it's not long enough his is most definitely a party in the back.

Seeing as how Dash is basically a 10-year old with the Flash's powers, that makes a lot of sense.

Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
I thought the running on water bit was especially neat as I've had dreams of doing that. But yes, speedsters seem to have a certain archetypical personality, at least in somewhat comedic works.
It might be fun to have a droll speedster instead though. In fact, I can think of at least one example.

Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
First up, I want to say that I no longer bother to read DC comic books. I've been a fan since the age of six, and I don’t. The sad truth is that I don’t even bother pirating them, because DC comics are so unreadable these days that they are not worth 'free'.
For some reason, there is this suffocatingly joyless attitude that DC has wrapped itself in completely by now, and by this point I just have nothing left to love.
And yet, this webcomic is a hopespot. A window back to a better time. A time when the characters weren't afraid to laugh at themselves, weren't glorifying misery or fetishizing the rugged individualist, and lived in a somewhat internally consistent world. A time when the Superheroes were actually that. The power fantasy elements are still there, but that's a vital part of any superhero comic. As is the honest desire to better themselves, and the striving to be better then they are. This genius managed to get all that into a comic set in primary school.
Which probably explains why I love this so much. To all those who are considering reading it, you definitely should.Nadir We,

This comic shows how you can make an original story with pre-existing characters. Much better than original characters following recycled tropes with uninspired artwork .Last edited by elros; 2013-02-18 at 08:47 PM.

Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
Just started reading, this is pretty fun.
I have a question though; why is Wonder Woman wearing a dress? The artist didn't seem to have any problems with putting Power Girl in a more modern costume.
Is it an older version of her outfit? I think that she had a skirt on the live-action TV-show, but most of the comics I've seen go with the more fan-service friendly version.
Just curious as to the history; are all the costumes the versions from a particular era?Last edited by Deepbluediver; 2013-02-19 at 01:24 PM.

Re: JL8 - Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Grade School
I believe WW was originally drawn in a skirt before she was given her own blue-spangly diaper. As to if the artist is using a single eras specifically, I don't think so. Original costume WW, but Batman looks more silver age, Superman just looks like your normal Superman. As for villains, Lex is wearing his business suit, which points toward his 1980s reworking (though admittedly earlier Luthors wore suits at different times including the original look for him, but it is far more common with latter depictions)
