Lethos and Caleban take to the ladders, storming into a pair of filthy but unoccupied shacks and moving to surround the goblins.

Eirik's song does its work, taking a hold of both Kasuka and Theodoric as they charge forward. Kasuka plants his new dagger in the belly of the injured goblin with the Desnan candle, spilling aspiring arsonist's guts before Caleban can bring his axe into play.

Theodoric's attack is oven more spectacular, splitting the shortbow-wielding goblin from veil to garter. "But Reta not chop yet!" gurgles the dying goblin as it crumples.

The initial three foes are fallen, but you immediately discover that they weren't alone. Another trio of goblins pile out of a structure in front of Lethos, lead by a deranged little dancing goblin wearing a skull on its head like a helmet. "Mogmurch make BOOM!" it shouts, hurling a ceramic gernado with a sparking fuze at Theodoric. The bomb misses the mark, but still splatters Kasuka and the Taldan with flaming accelerants when it bursts on the ground.

    Eirik Evensong

The moment the new goblins appeared, Eirik pulled back the string of his shortbow - but his companions were too quick. With Kasuka and Theodric rushing to engage the goblins, the target-rich environment changed into a potential danger zone. He could not take the shot without putting his fellows in danger.

Putting aside his bow, Eirik rushed to the rickety staircase, his hand already moving to unsheathe his blade - and his singing turning even more scathing in its mockery of goblins. The next verse went into quite graphic detail about a goblin getting drunk and amorous with a dog.

Theodroic charges the nearest goblin with a mighty swing of his greatsword, which misses entirely as the ranger's front foot slips in the mud. The sword lodges deep in the damp planks of the raised walkway, leaving him open to attack as he wrenches it free.

The goblin with the Desnan candle moves to take advantage of Theodoric's misfortune, struggling to bring the lit firework in line with the Taldan, but Caleban stops it short with an expertly thrown dagger. The dead goblin falls backwards, the sputter Desnan candle launching itself from nerveless hand and spinning its way harmlessly off the walkway and into a muddy puddle.

Kasuka follows the Taldan's attack with a more emasured charge of his own, coming in low and launching himself and his dagger up under the bomb-throwers defenses. The skull-capped goblin stumbles back a step as the dagger digs deep into its spindly thigh. "I said make BOOM!" it shrieks, chucking another bomb at Kasuka. The quick Fetchling adroitly bats the grenado aside with his free hand, but not far enough to avoid another splash of flaming reagents.

Meanwhile, Eirik moves to nearest ladder, intent on joining Lethos on the walkways. Not that the elf needs the help, with his latest opponent lying in two bloody halves at his feet.

Deeper in the ramshackle village, another door bangs open and six more goblins spill forth, their leader decked out in a fairly well-maintained chain shirt. The creature starts caterwauling some sort of personal battle cry, as is often the wont of goblins:

Poog say Zarongel is the best,
He help burn things and heal the rest.
    Zarongel’s favor makes Poog blessed.
And Poog also stab you with knife if
you make fun of how he isn’ t good at
    riding animals.

To punctuate his performance, the angry little cleric of Zarongel launches a bolt of fire that grazes Theodoric's face.

Theodoric retreats back near the shattered gate of the complex, unshouldering his bow to deliver a deadly Parthian shot to the skull-capped bomb thrower while he backpedals.

With a clear path, Lethos stalks towards the loudmouthed Poog and raises a hand, delivering a scintillating blast of flashing lights designed to dazzle and confuse.

"Oooh" responds the goblin priest, obviously impressed by the light show. He stands entranced only until flashes fade, while the goblin behind him begins convulsing and foaming at the mouth. "Now is Poog's turn to make pretty colors!" The toothy little cleric exclaims, waving his fingers to produce a wave of flames that washes over Lethos.

One muffs the landing, and struggles back to its feet with an eruption of curses while the other sprints forward to slash at Lethos ineffectually.

Caleban rumbles along the walkways, blasting through a few flimsy wicker doors to reach the goblins from behind. His mad dash doesn't go unnoticed, as two of the goblins wheel to meet him with dogslicers in hand. The first swings wide, gouging a wall instead of its target. The second is a bit cagier, making an exaggerated stab which suddenly turns into a backhanded slash that digs into Caleban's forearm.

    Eirik Evensong

Dammit, too close again, Eirik cursed as he reached for a new arrow. The goblins were too closely packed with his comrades for him to loose another arrow without risking hitting someone who wasn't three feet tall and a pyromaniac.

But perhaps there is another way...

Eirik stashed his bow and arrow and started alternating the flow of his bardic song, weaving a spell as he chanted. When the twin flows of bardic music and his own natural knack for magic were released, the rickety planks beneath some of the goblins suddenly grew sleek and shiny with an oil-like substance.
