IC V Against the Current

Kurt struggles at the sudden change, his mind going first to keeping the horse from toppling.

With a quick pull of the reins as the creature bursts out, he manages to pull his mount of the way, pausing for only a moment before simply sliding off the saddle to face it, not wanting to put the poor shaking creature in anymore danger. He hops off to face the only Hulk who isn't blind, smacking his horse to get it to go out of danger.

Instead of quickly and cleanly dismounting from her horse, Natalia falls smack to the ground, though in a way that doesn't actually cause injury. Out of the corner of her eye, behind all the legs, she can see her horse bolt off. Natalia gets up and fires at the hulking beetle thing right in front of her.

Miriam's horse is totally scared by the umberhulks and runs away. The cleric tries to control the animal but fails to do so. She rides from about 100 feet until the horse calm down.

She gets off the horse and run back towards the battle.

The umber hulk that Natalia had hit with her arrow straightens up. Rather than respond with force, it glares straight at her. Natalia has no choice but to peer into the beast's bizarre compound eyes, which seem to tear into her very sanity.

Shiny rides his pony away from the hulk, giving it a chance to strike at him as he moves away. Once away, he turns towards it and casts two quick spells, one taking only a moment, and the second creating another burst of glitter above the nonblinded creature.

Mithril turned and watched in horror as the monsters attacked her friends. Had she read of these creatures before? Snapping out of her daze she raised her hand with the metal rod and sent out a spell. The warm of her circlet and cold of the rod mixed.

Mithril's magical bolts hit their targets. Mithril recalls having read of these aberrations in some detail: she knows that their piercing glare can cause temporary insanity in those who meet their eyes, though she doubts that the beasts who are blinded by Shiny's spell would have this effect.

One of the blinded creatures listens to find an enemy near him.

All Natalia can do is slam her hands, sharp and pointy and when did they get like that? into the twisted shifting thing, at once a large beetle, at once her friends passing judgment at once at once at once

The beasts were still attacking her friends. They seemed impossible to put down. Tightening her grip on the rod she again called on its power, the familiar chill and heat ran through her bones, and she knew that she would not be able to do this much longer.

Natalia's eyes are wide and wild. She shrieks and thrashes; it's nearly impossible to understand her and now it makes absolutely no sense instead of the usual warped coherence of Nutspeak. Whatever Natalia's seeing, wherever she is, it's not here, and it's not a current reality.

Kurt staggers from the sheer force of the blow, his armour leaving a bruise along his side but otherwise cushioning it well. He grins as he responds, using the pain as fuel for his attack.

Shiny and Mithril up.

Seeing the unblinded beast fall, Shiny pulls his warpony slightly to the left, gaining a new angle on the combat. Then he whispers a quick incantation that he's never cast before, and splays out his fingers towards the two remaining beasts.
