Avatar for Jami
Jami, You're an artist, I think your avatar is crying out for a dose of your skills.

Children already know that dragons exist.
Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.

Re: Avatar for Jami
He may not know how to direct it else-where.
Just click on "User CP" up the top there and under "Settings and Options" click "Edit Options"
Under "Miscellaneous Options" and "Avatar" select "Custom" then under "Custom Avatar URL" throw in the URL to a picture back at your site or something.
P.S. pick the Monkey King!

Re: Avatar for Jami
Haha! I'll have to play with that when I have some time to sit down and catch my breath. I think when we actually start, I'll create a thread for avatar requests.

Re: Avatar for Jami
Speaking of which...
I'm not sure exactly how successful I would be if I tried, but I've been looking over the sample art and wondering how well I could recreate it.
(It would obviously take far more time than the slight effort I place in my current art)
Would you mind me attempting to create avatars for people in your style? I would entirely understand if you want to keep that to yourself.
Note that I would not attempt to recreate any character represented in the comic, merely the style.Last edited by AmberVael; 2006-12-05 at 12:06 PM.

Re: Avatar for Jami
Might want to take this over to the Arts and Crafts section.
In fact, I'll just move it over there.Let the Yaggle Gakkle-ing begin.

Re: Avatar for Jami
Hmmm...
I think I'll need to wait before I can really figure out how to make an Erfworld style avatar. However, here is an attempt:
Its just... not quite right. I think I need to work on the shading.

Re: Avatar for Jami
I think it looks great! It's like a melding of the OotS style and the Erfworld style.

Re: Avatar for Jami
Yeah, I guess since Oots is really the only art I have ever really tried, it is kinda my base. I like the way it turned out, it just wasn't what I was trying to get.
Hopefully when I get a comic or two to base things off of, I'll have a better shot a more 'pure' Erfworld style.
V: Why thank you. Considering the extremely little experience I have had, that is quite the compliment.Last edited by AmberVael; 2006-12-06 at 02:08 PM.

Re: Avatar for Jami
(I posted this over in the Erfworld forum as well...)
With a bit of resizing help from Rob, I've got a set of 120px and 100px avatars based on the pictures from the cast pages here.
They're no custom artwork, but it's a start.

Re: Avatar for Jami
Since I've got the originals, I can swap out the white backgrounds when I get home with the forum color so they're not up against white. Do people prefer png or jpg or gif?

Re: Avatar for Jami
I decided to try out making something a bit Erfworldy.
It's not exactly the right genre (from what we've seen so far) but I wanted to try the style. The big issue with avatars like this is the shrinking at the end. The head to body ratio I found difficult too.Mannerism RPG An RPG in which your descriptions resolve your actions and sculpts your growth.

Re: Avatar for Jami
The best format to use with a transparent background would be GIF, as Internet Explorer doesn't like transparencies in PNG very much. PNG would otherwise be the better choice. I don't recommend JPEG for these types of images due to the artifacts it creates, you should get higher quality pictures for a smaller size with GIF or PNG.
