Well, all the trophies are out, so I'm caught up there.

I'd suggest more, but I don't think it'd be fair to suggest more than two.

Spelling: It's Important.
It's about spells and magic, and has nothing to do with grammar.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread II: New Thread smell included!
Yeah, that's the thing that bugs me about catastrophic atmospheric phenomena too. Tornadoes aren't fires of heaven, really. If you can think of a good term that covers the various sorts of "fire from the sky" phenomena then I'm all for it.
Even "lightning, meteors, and other fires in the sky" would be fine by me, but it's a bit unwieldy.Last edited by Benly; 2013-08-24 at 07:46 PM.

Avatar by Venetian Mask. It's of an NPC from a campaign I may yet run (possibly in PbP) who became a favorite of mine while planning.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread II: New Thread smell included!
Going with that what about something like this.
Classes that break the normally accepted boundaries and rules that keep them from being awesome. The trope Beyond The Impossible (warning: Tvtropes link) covers this stuff pretty well. Essentially, it's anything that breaks the established laws of reality for the setting. For example if punching someone really hard is normal, and hitting them so hard that they fly is awesome; then Beyond The Impossible would be when you punch someone so hard, their descendants literally feel it. Or when your charge is so powerful it rips apart the planar bindings and brings in a dead magic zone, things like that.
Note: Spells wouldn't count because it's an established Pathfinder fact that spells break the laws of physics. However, something that breaks the rules of the game regarding magic would count.
I don't know how you'd summarize that, but I'd definitely get behind it.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread II: New Thread smell included!
What about summing up the theme as just being "Rule of Cool"?

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread II: New Thread smell included!
Pretty much every class does that, though. Your class abilities are the ways in which you are exceptions to the basic rules of the game. The monk breaks the rules in the Unarmed Combat section. The fighter breaks the rules in the advancement section about when you get feats. The wizard breaks the rules that everyone should be playing the same game, and so on. You're just describing rules that are broken less often.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread II: New Thread smell included!
Aye, I understand - But there's a difference between that kind of breaking the rules (as a matter of course), and the kind of thing I was thinking when I said it (Which is to say reading, understanding, and then scoffing at those rules and intentionally and explicitly disregarding them).
It's all in the spirit of how you go about "breaking" them.
So yea, I suppose Rule of Cool could be a good way of putting it.There was something here and in the avatar box, and there will eventually be again. I just need to figure out what I want...
