Erfworld Humour Type
What kind of humour does Erfworld utilize?
In hindsight I should've included nine options.
I ticked off on 1 but I might also have gone for 'Creative Funny', I'm not sure if I've giggled outwardly since starting to read Erfworld but I love it and find it deeply amusing and even hilarious.Last edited by Moechi_Vill; 2006-12-22 at 10:25 AM.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
I think it has several types of humour. There are puns in the names, some 'stupid funny' jokes (Orlies), a fair bit of 'creative funny', and aspects of most of the others.
I apologise now for everything that is wrong with this post.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
I must say, I'm a little disappointed that there's no option like "dry," "wry," or "deadpan."

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
Why isn't this a multiple choice poll?

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
Hmm. I was just thinking about this.
I notice that all of the main characters are very serious. None of them are ha-ha laughing joking funny. They are in a battle and being croaked is to be avoided.
I originally pegged Ansom as a Zapp Brannigan kind of guy but now I see that he is not in the least.
The humor comes from the setting, the little details that the characters take for granted but which we recognize from our own experiences.
That is a very interesting style choice, and I think I like it. This is a serious story, not a funny one, even though I think that funny things other than background details will happen from time to time.
I think the reason there is a lot of negativity about the comic is because of this style choice. Some people don't understand that this is a serious story cloaked in absurdity.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
There really wasn't an option available that describes my take on the humor used in Erfworld so I selected the final choice. I would have voted differently if it were possible to select more than one.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
Because I don't know how (haven't invested the 2-30 minutes it would take me (I spent sixty seconds looking around and speculating once and then my ADHD helped me decide to move along without it :()).
Well, assuming a 3-1 split 85% of the poll takers like/love/enjoy/are challenged/are amused in a positive way by Erfworld.
I'm mostly taken by most people feeling appealed by specific assets of Erfworld (the lack of multiple choice might invalidate this), most noticeable however is that few people find it laugh-out-loud funny but more of a mixed and specialized dish. And Nr. 1 getting most votes even if it was more favorably described ^_^, and the fact that noone who disliked it felt they cared about it (modernity?).
I'll wait some time, work out multiple choice, wait till this thing slips down below the waves then make a poll the Erfworld creators would like utilizing 'wry', 'deadpan' and 'dry' and also words that Erfworld haters/non-fans have used. mrmmmm w/e
love the comic! (much more then giantitp, Erfworld is probably in my top ten list ever because... itS SOOO GOOOOOOD! nr. 1 option to me aaaaah I love it I love it I love it I love it)
How would you describe it Sailacela?Last edited by Moechi_Vill; 2006-12-22 at 10:34 AM.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
I think one of the funniest things is that their is this serious war and strategy type stuff going on with teddy bears and peeps and such.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for
anything, but you still can't help but smile when
you see one tumble down the stairs.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
Not only is it a serious war involving peeps and teddy bears, but it is being fought with these soft, adorable cweatures...er...creatures.

Re: Erfworld Humour Type
The Freee-durp was pathetic though. :( It would've been good if more people understood it.
