Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I like your drawing style, it reminds me of Crimson Angels from the old ABR threads.
Thicker arms
Animated avatars were actually the reason I started using Flash as my program of choice for drawing anything.
Then they were banned shortly after.Last edited by Tiffanie Lirle; 2016-02-27 at 09:29 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
In my search for a new avatar, I came across this thread. Even though I know this isn't the adopt an avatar thread, I have really enjoyed browsing through everything, so many talented artists! I have to say though, this made me literally gasp when I came across it, really stunning work! Well done!

This art piece is from the same photobucket album as the Houyi/Chang'e image, and deserves attention as well.
Just look at all the details...

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I finally decided to try my hand at making a OOTS style character. I used the Trazoi guide for InkScape. I was wondering if someone can give me some pointers as this is my very first attempt at making a character in this style.
Spoiler
The personality of this character lends to a basic/clean design (which is why I chose him first). I tried to make his face with sharper corners which I know is a deviation from the style. I was wanting to see how that would work out.
TIA

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Nitpicking ahead.
Use thicker lining and don't colour in the hands if you want to stick closer to OotS. The eyes need to be much larger and a bit closer together. Work on using less straight lines, there aren't any in nature. I get what you're trying to do with the head, but it looks less like a sharp face and more like he has a balloon shaped head. The shoes could be a little larger too. But it's pretty good for a first.
Sounds good, hope to see you around.
Somebody bring that man a cup of coffee.
The only thing I can pick at is that his hands are really small and differently sized, even with the grip around effect. But it's all in all a really nice avatar.
Looks like your average Tumblr user

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Try the exact same thing, just go over that drawing and make all those lines maybe twice as thick? Try doing it cross-referencing with the comic itself and stop when the lines are as thick, make sure all corners are rounded, and you're good. I love the way you did the magic itself

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
First piece of advice; look at the object in its intended resolution (which I will assume is this one from the same photobucket?)
Second piece of advice; Photobucket apparently have gone way downhill with its ads since I last used it.
Real second piece of advice; Slightly thicker outlines? Especially the hair and the mushroom-hat look quite jagged/hazy due to the low pixel-count. Personally I don't notice that as much if the outline is thicker since less of the total size of the outline is hazy/jagged (see below, I hope)
Third piece of advice; the map loses all its detail when you reduce the pixelcount, if you'd want to keep that you could just make the details larger or the map larger (or perhaps preferably both?). The picture is 76x120 which means that you have 44 pixels (1/3 of the maximum size) left horizontally without reducing overall quality - if you want to use them.
Not my best use of perspective, but it uses a full 120x120 pixels.
Fourth piece of advice; I'd either move Alice slightly to the left so she cover more of the mushroom (it looks to me like she is leaning against it with one butt-cheek - a bit uncomfortable) or I'd do that and reduce the size of the mushroom so it looks like she is sitting on top of the hat rather than against the brim.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Some months ago got a request and the last two days I decided to just expand on it and take the chance to do some studies and experiments while on the artstyle.
Spoiler: Massive Image Ahead
- The actual request, I'm not happy how the wind ended up looking but a deadline loomed so it stayed like that.
- Testing a fisheye script on the clouds, that and getting used to new mappings on the mouse with the added buttons.
- Testing procedural tinting based on z-position, not THAT useful in this particular case since labelling the z-coordinated for each thing pretty much makes it kinda worthless, but probably has some interesting use further down the line. Quite pleased with how the water ended up looking.
- Tried to do heavily dynamic posing and perspective. The bow is probably horrendously wrong but I couldn't really solve it in some aesthetically pleasing way and I hope it's not noticeable unless one tries to think about it really hard.
- Tried to do exaggerated lighting from the fire and also posing cheats to get around the fact that the in-game costume is not even close to M. Outside of some small artifacts from using a mouse for the extended shadows I quite like the result.
- This was supposed to focus on doing light reflection based stuff but ultimately couldn't make that idea fit the theme so I settled for making it a clean, clear image.
- Experimented on using 3d modeling to generate the water surface light reflection grid to evade doing it manually. After three computer deaths and many many hacks the results ended up being quite acceptable (though manual clenup on 15k node object was a pain) but with the amount of intermediary work and just making the water mesh in the first place, just doing it by hand would probably have been better.
By this point what I'm drawing is probably on the almost extreme edge of what could be considered the oots-style (though absolutely OoT style) so I'll see myself out through the left...
Same surprise greeted me the first time I accessed it from an adblock-less browser. Imgur might be a viable candidate, though I haven't tried it myself just yet.Last edited by AsteriskAmp; 2016-08-02 at 05:05 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I haven't done anything in oots style in like..... 5 years I've lost all my templates and hundreds of drawings since then, so I've had to start from scratch.
Randomly got the urge to draw the Overwatch characters. I'm definitely taking some artistic liberties with these.
Spoiler: hory
I'm so rusty with Inkscape now, lol____
