Default Dungeons & Dragons Stone Soup OOC

Oh look lots of space for all kinds of stuff.
Don't know precisely why because the IC will mostly be 'KILL' but anyways.
In the strange event that your character may be compelled to formulate words, maybe in order to spur the others on in killing things, this is the place to determine what colorful speech you will be using ... also to repost your character links.

Further, if you ever get deeper than level 12 everything will be approximated, because I never got any deeper than that in the actual game *shake fist*

Also reminder to myself on what is what:
    Spoiler
    Show
After playing way too much Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup in the last few weeks, I got it in my head to GM a PbP 3.5 game that uses it as inspiration.

Type of game: A Dungeon Crawl (hacky slashy fun), Play by Post, here
    Starting level: 1st
    Ability Generation: 40 point buy
    Party size: 3 players
Allowed content: Core (due to this being a first try of the idea)
Starting Ressources:Class maximum gold (for things they don't have from their class)
    Which classes start with what:
    Spoiler
    Show
Fighter - Scale Mail;Light Steel Shield; One handed weapon of choice (all Masterwork)
Barbarian - Hide Armor; Weapon of Choice (both Masterwork)
    Monk - Chain Shirt (Masterwork)
Rogue - 2 daggers, Leather Armor (all Masterwork) (both daggers may be traded in for one +1 dagger); 10 Darts (not masterwork)
Bard - 1 Dagger (MW), 1 Robe, 10 Darts, Spellbook
Ranger - Leather Armor, choose either a Bow, Crossbow or martial weapon (all masterwork); Spellbook
Paladin: Breastplate, Weapon of choice (both Masterwork)
Cleric,Druid,Wizard,Sorcerer - Robe, Spellbook, 1 simple weapon (non MW)

Robes are effectively +1 armor with no ACP and no ASF.

Build restrictions: you may not have more than one spellcasting base class in your build.

    Changes to classes:
    Spoiler
    Show
Barbarian: Illiteracy is removed, after raging the character is fatigued for twice the time he raged, A Barbarian may rage at any point they are not fatigued or exhausted At levels 4,8,12,16,20 instead of gaining another rage per day, they may instead increase their rage bonuses to Strenght and Constitution by one. Their Damage Reduction is doubled.
Fighter: Treat all Armor as one category lighter, increase armor's maximum dex bonus by 2. Once per turn, when an enemy attack would hit you, you may attempt a parry, roll an opposing attack roll. If you succeed you parry the attack (this does not cost an Attack of opport), this increases to 2 attempts at level 11. At each level divisible by 5 you gain a cumulative bonus of +1 to all weapon attack and damage rolls.
Monk: Flurry may be used as a standard action and does not incur the -2 penalty. You may wear light armor and still gain the AC Bonus and speed bonus. You may gain either Weapon finesse or intuitive Strike as a bonus feat. Wholeness of body is modified to level*wisdom modifier, Monk levels count as full caster level for item use.
Rogue: Feinting starts as a move action, Improved feint lowers this to a swift action. You gain weapon finesse as a bonus feat. Sneak attack follows Pathfinder restrictions for broader application.
Paladin: Smite is now "per minute" instead of "per day", remove disease now also works as remove poison and may be used x/hour instead of x/week, Aura of courage applies to all will saves, Lay on hands dynamically restores every 10 minutes (see special rules on hitpoints), you may spend a feat to key spells off of Charisma instead of wisdom.
Ranger: You may spend a feat to gain ranged power attack, Animal Companion functions at full level instead of half, every time you gain a favoured enemy beyond the first, that one is +2 and all others before gain a further +2, this effect is cumulative (akin to vow of poverty ability increase)
Bard: Bardic Knowledge includes Knowledge Devotion, Every bardic song allows them to transfer the so aquired bonus to their allies.

Special Rules (class specific rules above take precedent if conflicts exist)
    Spoiler
    Show
    General
    - Full hitpoints per hitdie
    - for the purpose of gaining hitpoints each level, the constitution modifier is supplemented by half the strenght modifier and a third of the dexterity modifier (calculate fractional, then round down result).
    - Hitpoints are regained at a rate of 0.01 times your total each round (so with 10hp you would regain 1 every 10 rounds)
    - All feats that pertain to specific weapons (weapon focus, etc) now pertain to all weapons that are similar in working (long blade, short blade, polearm, bludgeoning instrument etc)
    - Two weapon fighting functions on a standard action
    - All effects that usually would be of the form "X/day" now are "x/10 minutes" and recharge dynamically (2/day translates to 1/5min)
    - All classes may use magic items, but non-magic user classes count as having half their level in caster level. Magic items work according to the user's caster level.
-Armor gives 50% more AC than normal and half of the resulting number counts towards touch AC. Shields count fully to touch AC.

    Spellcasting:
    - Spellcasters use spellpoint system and regain 0.01 times their total spellpoints per round (similar to hitpoints)
    - Ranger and Paladin have caster levels equal to their class levels and work on half the Bard's base spellpoint progression.
    - All casters work with "spells known"
    - A caster has knowledge slots equal to their level plus their casting stat modifier and a spell costs slots equal to its level to memorize. (scrolls of amnesia can be found in the dungeon to erase knowledge of a spell)
    - Originally prepared casters gain twice as many knowledge slots, while spontaneous casters regain spellpoints twice as fast.
    - It is possible to specialize in a school (for every caster). For this school, their spells are cast at a +2 to caster level and DC. For every other school their spells are cast at a -1 CL and DC. (This means that at 1st level a specialized caster may only cast spells of their chosen school)
    - Spellcasters start with a spellbook that contains two first and one second level spell of their chooseing as well as one randomly chose spell of levels 3-5 each. For a specialized caster, all spells in the beginning Spellbook must be of their school.
    - Classes that allow casting certain spells instead of prepared one still have this in effect, but must have a spell of the necessary level memorized

This will be basically a trial run, so in addition to interest in playing I am open to ideas for further mechanics, but the above is mostly fixed.

There will be no hunger clock in this game.

To make matters easier later on, you could decide on who goes first, who goes last when it comes to such things as corridors (of which there will be many) or doors, so that I will know who to kill first.

Ok, I guess I am in the back then. We are going to run into some trouble though if we ever run into a hit and run character. We are so slow they can split us up really easily...nothing we can do about it though until I get the Monk's speed boost.

Also warning I am pretty bad at roleplaying a low Charisma character but I will try my best :P I tend to forget that I have to play in a way that annoys people.

The way I see it, low charisma is what you make it. You could be anything from the most well-spoken and eloquent half-ogre/half-troll barbarian in the world, all the way to a stuttering, obnoxious Helen of Troy. But dat's just my 2 bits.

Things to come that are of note:

    Potential for implementation:
    - Wands and Potions will not be limited to level 1-3 spells
    - Found potions may be used as thrown weapons doing half their normal effect (at -2 DC) on the creature/object they hit and minimal effect (at a -5 DC) to all viable targets within 5 feet.
    - Non self crafted wands may be found with variable maximum charges and random remaining charges
-Scrolls of recharge will only recharge wands based on spell level.

Also, I will likely (relatively often at that) implement such wording as "a number of X", with X being some sort of small creature. This does not in fact mean that it will be a swarm, simply a larger number of creatures in one square or similar. I will always point out swarms either by just calling it a swarm, or using such words as "innumerable".
This will be most prevalent on the first few floors of the dungeon.

Yes you did, its in the last bit of the big update.
Though you had posted when I wrote that, then I edited in that part pertaining to you. So its likely that you only saw the original post and not the edited one (Classic case of cross-ninja). Here it is again.

Called to do so by Pyrom, Quinot sends out his arcane senses towards to fireplace. It indeed is apparently magical, but the charms are deeply rooted and it is unlikely that it was activated in any time in the near past. Likely it has been going for years if not decades.
