    Due to the Underground Nature of Diopsid, and your lack of interest in the upperworld your beginning LOS is smaller, but when scouting the surface you will have the same LOS as anyone else.

    Random Season Event - A young and Bold Diopsid returns with word of a vast open world North of your villages, tales of his adventures quickly reach your ears, (eyes) and you offer the young one a position which he excitedly accepts.

    [Local Hero-A lvl 5 NPC Fighter joins your service at no cost to you, he has the Elite Array [apply racial adjustments] and Fights with a pair of Great Swords, using Power Attack, Weapon Focus and Cleave as his feats. I will let you assign Attributes and Skills.]

    I'll put an IC up because it's fun.

    I was planning on being a returning hero but this can be additional confirmation as I make a speech.
    Now, is blue aquatic/ocean hexes? And I take it the hex I'm in + to the north is mountain, does the north have underground?

    Anyhow, first thing is Taxation, I'll go medium.
    (1d20+29)[37]%*1650

    Reagent Upkeep:

    Edit: Might I ask that the fighter swaps out one of those feats for TWF? Diopsid's still need TWF to not suck horribly.

    To Consolidate questions in regard to the Hero:

    Do special units automatically count as scouts or do they need training/Can Special units recireve training?
    Also, Two feats are missing [Level 1, Level 3, BF1, BF2 BF4], am I allowed to choose? [Currently assuming that they missed, using on TWF and Oversized TWF to reduce TWF pen from -6/-10 to -2/-2]
    Given Mighty, in FOB does power attack work by trading 1 BaB for 1 Power?
    How much do I control his Equipment/whats his wealth? [So far assuming I equip him per WBL taking note he uses two great swords, one of which will use greatsword extra FOB power [This way power from weapons is +14 instead of +9], partially representing him being showered with gifts and him selling useless stuff]
    Does he have upkeep [I think special units do, and if so, do I technically incur upkeep? I think not but a quick check]
    How do I determine his HP? Rolled, Half as normal NPC [Current Assumption], or Max like me?

    Hmm. Does the blue shaded area to the south happen to be water thus making it a aquatic [ocean]/underground?
    Special units don't count as scouts normally, any chance I can pay for my local hero to be a scout as if I was mustering him instead of training[*2 for after muster training,*2 for Special Unit Training, so it's 400 to make him a scout which I cant pay if it counts as after training, 200 if it doesn't]?
    If so, I'm thinking spend and have fighter scout, messange ruler to come help if he finds forces.
    Otherwise I'll wait until next season [summer or spring?] since I cannot effectively scout to explore a hex/expand/other unless some other random event crops up.

    Awesome, especially since you traditionally become a Diopsid 'hero' by scouting the above lands and bringing things back, and often then go into politics and take control of a area.
    In that case, the local hero will be showered with praise, and will actually explore the hex above me/the above ground area.

    So Grand Mistress Diopsida, what hides on the surface?

    Edit: Before I stat up 'Eldritch Lord'/Reagent for FOB for when it's eventually needed, can his Eldritch Blast be treated as a ranged weapon for determining Ranged Power instead of a spell given that he can fire as often as a regular archer, and just cause a single morale check for being tageted with spells instead of 10.
