Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
Dimo probably knows these "guys", as he not only is not confident that he can defeat them (actually he knows he can't), but he thinks that even Agatha's and the monks' mad science is not enough, although Agatha has shown pretty impressive things, and the monks are not bad spark either.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
He also knows what they have on them at this exact moment.
"RUN" could mean "RUN BACK TO THE TRAIN SO YOU CAN SAFELY USE THE WEAPONS THERE" not "RUN FOR THE HILLS! THERE IS NO HOPE FOR VICTORY".
Between Agatha and the Monks, they can probably take out the Bear Army, but first they need to get to safety.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
Yeah, I'd go with Dreen as well--even if they *don't* have powers, they're pretty much indestructible (as Tweedle proved when trying to crush one with his giant robot).

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
The strange thing about that scene is that the dreen appeared, scared the jägers and Tarvek, then other things started happening and it was simply not mentioned again.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
But the Dreen had been mentioned before as being used as guards, raher then combatants per se. Which tends to play into the idea that they were intended as some sort of "Dementor" reference. Just the sort of thing Klaus would senf to recover a "prisoner" but not to take a town. If so, we not likely to see them used in action.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
That scene in the book actually mentions the Dreen. From what I recall, they scare the Slaver Wasps.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
The Dreen are also mentioned in one of the novels as being the only beings that the slaver wasps sort of shied away from. There supposed to have some sort of mysterious power that just makes them unbelievably fearsome combatants. It might have something to do with manipulating technology, but it has never really been described fully, I don;t think. I really hope they don't do the same thing with these bears, I want to see what's up with them. Clearly they are some sort of Construct, but who made them, and why are they allied with this guy? THey are clearly quite old (Dimo recognized them), and since they are in league with the guy trying to catch Lady Margolotta, they could have something to do with the Storm King. Although I really have no idea as there is also some sort of key involved, hidden inside of a book, and I'm still speculating about what it could conceivably open.
I can't believe I hadn't seen this thread before, Girl Genius is easily one of my favorite webcomics, next to OoTS, Gunnkerkrigg, and a few others.
EDIT: Also, the Dreen apparently "kill with a touch" according to the book in which they are featured.Last edited by Irk; 2014-07-24 at 08:51 PM.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
He was also shirtless the entire time was in the suit, or at the very least not wear the same high same high collar and sigil he had on before he went in.
Of course, so was Higgs, and Gil was also clean shaven, but whereas Higgs being a proper airman would never go back on duty out of uniform Gil has no such inhibitions, and besides he's obviously been busy.ChowGuy - The LaChoy Dragon - Servant of the Tiger and disciple of the Wanderer

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
I took it as at least a mix including Klaus based on Gil's eyes, face, etc.
Lucy leaked through a little on Agatha when Agatha was talking to Tarvek, Gil and Klaus are not enemies in same way, probably a fair bit of leaking and times when they both are running show at same time. When their goals are same they may work as team to degree to try and get job done.Last edited by multilis; 2014-07-25 at 11:32 PM.

Re: Girl Genius XVI: The Wrath of Klaus
I make games.
"...I worry that modern gaming is gradually shrinking the wide spectrum of gameplay mechanics into a single narrow red bar with "KILL" written on it sideways. Exploration, navigation, puzzles, platforming, all gradually shrinking away until only one thing remains, being taken by the hand from room to room, moving on only when nothing remains alive in each one." - Yhatzee Crosshaw
