I actually remembered the arm-lock. That's why I aimed for a wing! Shinji's getting nothing worse than a very close shave from a lightsaber shaped like Zankantou.

Natsuki's actually a fairly standard Quincy in many ways… except for her preference to mid-to-close combat.

Hinata, on the other hand… the longer a fight goes, the more stray reiatsu in the air, the more of an advantage Hinata's at, because she can potentially gather that spare reiatsu into powering her abilities. Including, say, high-level Kido.

I'm also considering altering her Zanpaktou slightly, allow her to use a 'bow form' in Shikai (and Bankai, if/when she ever gets that).

"Stray reiatsu" is an oxymoron. Reiatsu is power leak, an innate inefficiency of pretty much all spiritual creatures that can be put to certain uses.

In the case of shinigami (and a few specific hollows with the know-how), they can use their reiatsu, a constant stream with no uncontrolled fluctuations other than depletion to power up kidõ. Absorption is not a thing that they can do.

Absorbing reiatsu is, in fact, not a thing anyone can do. Quincy absorb reishi, matter. And use that to power up all of their abilities.

Why not just explore the already-deep well of potential that being a Quincy-Shinigami hybrid brings, on top of the fact she just got a MAJOR upgrade by virtue of having basically all commonly-known Kido downloaded into her brain, giving her in the span of 3 months what takes anyone else years to decades to achieve?

So, it's come to my attention that no Recon characters are currently active (unless I've missed someone). And given that I have a recon leadership character...

Are there any objections to me taking up the Captaincy of the Recon division?

"Some" in this case would mean characters who rely on passive scanning for detecting Reiatsu. Most Arrancars wouldn't be fooled, as they locate and gauge opponent based on how their own Reiatsu reflects from them. The difference is analogous to that between hearing and sonar.

@horngeek: do return to playing your Recon character if you wish, but if you want her to become a Captain, I'd rather you work for it IC first. As a sidenote, I don't think it'd make sense for any new Captains to be promoted until a new Commander-General is officially nominated.
