Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
It is inevitable, of course, that persons of epicurean refinement will in the course of eternity engage in dealings with those of... unsavory character. Record well any transactions made, and repay all favors promptly.. (Thanks to Gnomish Wanderer for the Toreador avatar! )

Echidna wasn't a snake.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
Depends on the kind of snake - for instance, the older a rattlesnake gets, the larger its rattle gets (the rattle is actually made of the last little bit of skin from its molts - this is why a baby rattlesnake is considered particularly dangerous - it has never molted, so it's got no rattle, so its warning will go unheard). I imagine other snakes have signs of their age, but I'm no herpetologist.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
Gah, sorry for the wait, but I'm back for a while now, apart from a little bit at the end of August.
This is just the stuff in my main sketchbook, other things will wait a bit.
I was rather disappointed that zero of three people who ought to know guessed the wrong kind of large cat.

181: I want to say that's a cheetah, based on the black stripe coming down from the eye. The front left leg looks like it's set too low, although it's hard to tell what with the spots.
I like the colored ones, particularly the sleeping kitty. The owl turned out pretty well too.Last edited by 'Neath the Moon; 2014-08-11 at 03:54 PM.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
So have I. Thus you are hopefully going to get a larger percentage of bad drawings than the last few have been.
I see what you mean.
FINALLY
thank you
Yes, the colored ones... I wasn't confident about using watercolor in the sketchbook, but it didn't turn out too badly.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
More watercolour. No questions, just do it. Do it NOW. Please?
This is awesome and everyone should watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCVukDiRsNs
Not my video, and if it was, I'd be much more epic than I am.
I tend to disappear off the internet sometimes. I apologize if I inconvenience you.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
Very well.
This was the beginning of art week. The assignment was to do quick sketches with pen or pencil and return to the house and watercolour them in.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
You clearly have a good grasp on watercolours which will be easy to work on, and I'm jealous of that.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
Thank you. I personally feel like I know how to use them a little bit and they frustrate me as often as not.
Experimenting with charcoal on my own that evening.

And I decided to start practicing portraits. I was intending this to be a picture of a brother as a child, but somehow the drawing reminds me almost more of a different brother.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
I was comparing the pictures on the first page of this thread to now, and I can see a lot of progress. It's almost staggering to think someone could improve so much in that period of time.
Keep up the good work Cuthalion.

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
I actually kind of like the derp horse. He's silly. But seriously holy crap this entire batch of pictures look really good, and makes me wish I had a scanner to maybe try practicing drawing as well even though I'm not very good in the slightest
What I mean is you make me jealous and it's awesome!

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
Yes, I do believe I have.
It is really nice. Even better to see this happening to me. Other people, not quite the same. You see it but don't quite get to appreciate it as much.
Thanks.
Thank you! You're not terrible. I still use a camera, not a scanner.
Aw shucks.
More portraits!

Re: Cuthalion (tries to) make a daily drawing.
The first portrait has kind of odd proportions. The ears should be a little further up, and the mouth a little further to the side. Beyond that a very solid portrait.
The second portrait is also very nice.
How did you get so good at drawing animals? I can almost see the creature run to its food bowl.
As a side note I'm posting this my PS4, and I have say it's so very, very slow. I can't complain too loudly though as it is no longer just a 400 dollar netflix machine.
