Whoa this thread was created at the start of 2014. That must be some kind of record.

I'm holding out for thread number 11, just so that we can name it Virtual XI

What's a good 9-related metal reference... the nine realms? Secret of the Runes :/ But yeah let's go with the Futurama one.

News! There's a new Xanthochroid album coming, for those of us who like disgusting melodic black metal.

Also a new Syn Ze Șase Tri, even though I'm not sure anyone except me even listens to them. But, I mean. It's Transylvanian symphonic black metal. What's not to like.

I've heard the new Xanthochroid, its VERY different, much more Agalloch-y. I've noticed that in a lot of other bands that were kind of evil a few years ago, for example Enslaved or to some extent Darkthrone. Why do you think that is?

Also Syn Ze Sase Tri rule, haven't listened in years but I'm glad to be digging back in! Thanks for the reminder!

I couldn't really get into Blessed He With Boils, though I have to admit, I really wanted to like it because I definitely appreciated the album art work. Same goes for this upcoming album-- great cover art. Here's hoping the music lives up to that this time.

It's pretty... artistic. But I dig it.

I dig their new sound too. Feels a bit more stripped down than their latest.

not metal news (but I absolutely need to share!), in September I'm opening for The Dead Milkmen at a sold out show in Cleveland! The story is, Rodney (keys, vocals) is really into industrial music. They're doing three dates around here, he contacted Jim of Distortion Productions (he's the singer for Rein[Forced] and Red Lokust, and as a label has been putting out some killer stuff worth checking out, if you like industrial) for some recommendations. Jim pointed him to me. The show sold out in a day because, well, it's The Dead Milkmen, so they could bring anyone they wanted to open for them. For the Cleveland show, they chose me. I am shocked, and this is so crazy! It's only one show, but hell, it's the first out of state for this project and way bigger than anything I've ever done! Will fans of goofy pop punk like my way too serious darkwave/goth? We shall see!

And then a week after that I get to see SubRosa!

Can anybody point me to a cover of Hell's Bells where the actual bells don't cut out at the end of the intro? Someone somewhere must have done one.
