    Oh, Bölzer.

Yeah, I'm aware of them. Bit too death metaly for me. They actually remind me of Tiamat's ooold stuff a bit.

I prefer something like Kuolemanlaakso. Also a pretty recent death/doom band.

It was kind of at random in one of those "today I'm gonna browse some bands"-day. I found them a while ago, and now that they're going to give a concert in Portugal I was reminded of them and I decided to share.

This is how they're announcing the bands:

    http://www.swr-fest.com/

Negura Bunget are also touring I guess, there's 2 dates scheduled, one for that show and another near the capital.

Also these guys, also going to that festival, Grave Miasma, are awesome. In 2009 they, much like Bölzer, had an credible debut EP. I got lucky, as in 2010 I saw them live (Grave Miasma) with other bands that I've already shared here like Inverno Eterno, in the same place that Negura Bunget is also playing this year.

Yeah, I did take a look. Nothing really caught my attention. I'm a bitvery picky where metal is concerned. I don't like too much death in my death metal, heh.

Actually no, she's just stepping down as vocalist. She was quoted as saying:

Huh. At least they have a new vocalist now? Probably won't make me listen to them anyway.

Been listening to the new Agalloch song. It's... good. (I never expected anything else, really.) Sounds like Pale Folklore stuff. Nice harsh vocals.

Yep. And it's the woman from The Agonist, no less. Needless to say, a prompt ****storm of cries of 'GIMMICK' and such was quick to follow.

I'm more or less of the same opinion as you, though. I never liked Arch Enemy and that had nothing to do with the vocals so much as the music itself. So unless the change in vocalist precipitates some sort of shift in Michael Amott's songwriting, I doubt it'll mean much to me as far as changing my opinion of Arch Enemy.

Any fans of this wonderful band out there?

Also any fans of this type of black metal: Sirius, Obsidian Gate, and things like older Limbonic Art or even to some degree Summoning?
I'm more a fan of the atmospheric, ambient black metal or depressive black metal and post-black metal. But some of these bands do such a great work it's impossible for any metal fan not to like them.
I was wrecking my brain trying to remember the name of Obsidian Gate, I just had the music I posted playing in loop in my mind.
Does anybody know any more hidden gems?

Since I'm reminiscing, Depressive black metal fans might like this: Nortada Gelada The translation of the band/song would be: Icy North Winds - Like a howling wolf. Any body know more bands that might be similar to this? I'm curious as to what you guys may have to share.

I've gone on a bit of a new-band binge. Been listening to scores of bands I've never even heard of. One of them grabbed my attention: Manetheren. Sort of atmospheric USBM type thing. Never heard of them before. Pretty good.

Not quite what I was aiming at, I knew Caladan Brood and they're Summoning Copy-pasted (no offence, I don't even mean this in a pejorative manner). Same goes for what I heard of Wallachia instrumentally, it almost seems like Burzum with voice modulation.

Putting it in another word, I meant symphonic as in orchestral. Obsidian gate or Sirius are almost cacophonous( but without being unpleasant), fast and layered. I honestly think so many of these works are intricately amazing.

Our group uses Summoning, Lurker of Chalice, Sunn O))) and Falls of Rauros, depending on what the mood is, normally Lurker of Chalice and Sunn O))) are spoilers of something. If something has not happened yet, it will soon .

I am MORE than okay with Arch Enemy's new vocalist.

It sounds like there's heavy use of harmonies with her growls, so it'll be interesting to hear how she sounds live.

Meh. The vocals were fairly inoffensive, neither particularly terrible nor particularly good, but the music was pedestrian and by-the-numbers mellow-death.

Only one founding member still in the band. Granted, he's the main songwriter and lyricist, so it's not a disaster. But I'm still annoyed that Helge Stang left.
