    Entering the Theodicris Mine, the first thing you notice is the dusty air and musky smell - looks like somebody missed this place during spring cleaning. Pesky insects traverse the floor, and you believe that may have been a bat that just flew by your face. Fifteen feet in and something catches your eye - a wooden door fifteen feet to your left. Otherwise the corridor you're on extends straight away as far as the eye can see.

    Sweet. I thought the forum downtime was gonna be the death of this. Glad to see it's picking back up again.


    With her companions ready, Cassie pulls the door open - only to be greeted by a rather large crossbow bolt, followed by two [unarmed] Orcs charging at her.

    (1d20+4)[12] if crossbow hits, then (1d12)[7] damage.
    The Orcs are unarmed thus Cassie is entitled to an Attack of Opportunity on one Orc before his attack "resolves".
    In the meantime, I'll make their rolls. (1d20+3)[6] if hit then (1d3+2)[5] nonlethal damage & (1d20+3)[14] if hit then (1d3+2)[5] nonlethal damage.


    I'm not on my home computer so I can't make a map yet. But you have Cassie in the doorway, with two Orcs in front of her (both within 5ft reach) while the Bolt you'd discern to have come from the northeast corner of the room.

    Cassie opens the door only to be greeted by an onslaught of bloodthirsty Orcs running right to her face. However luckily for her, the impact of her Flail comes crashing down on the Orcs skull, lobbing his head off of his neck similar to the Bandit you all knew and loved. The other Orc also dashes at Cassie, but he misses wildly.



    The brown represents the walkway, the white around it is walls (so you're stuck in this 10x10 area - cramped quarters). The black line is the door Cassie opened and the Orc on C5 is splattered by Cassie. Reaven may make an AoO versus D4 assuming he was armed at the time. My apologies for not letting you know sooner Reaven, I blame not having the map in front of me on campus. Anyway, Reaven and Syviraux are up, then we're in round two.

    In order to get a better look in the room, you'll need to move up and around the (soon-to-be) fallen Orc bodies.

    Between the gout of flame from the Dragonborn, and the swift, efficient strikes, from the swordsman, the other Orc falls to the ground, scorched and severed.

    In the distance you hear the clickity, grinding sound of some kind of machinery - like a wench of some sort - it sounds like it's coming from inside the room.

    Put as far into the room as I need to be to discover to noise, but close enough to the exit in case it's a trap.

    Also Perception check if needed, (i.e the source of the noise isn't obvious) (1d20+6)[22] to locate the sound's origin.

    Reaven carefully slinks into the room while Cassie comes barreling in with a full head of steam, all the while yelling Dwarven battle cries. Once here you'd ascertain the room to look like a warehouse of sorts with all manner of differing sizes of crates. You'd think this was used to store supplies when the Mine was more active.

    With the sound of a trigger being squeezed a crossbow bolt comes barreling towards the fleet-of-foot swordsman!

    I'm gonna rule you're flat-footed for this attack as you don't know where the attacker is coming from. (1d20+4)[20] if hit (concealment roll) (1d100)[1] (1-20 is miss). If attack is true, then (1d12)[10] + (2d6)[8] SA damage.




    With the narrow miss, you hear the sound of a curse word in Orcish.

    The room is 20 ft deep (from Reaven to the wall) and 20 ft wide. After the shot fired, it would appear the bolt came from the barrels. Cassie, Syviraux, & Reaven are up again.

    Cassie will waste no tyme at all in bull rushing full speed into the barrels where their foe appears to be hiding, swinging her flail madly, and screaming about some nonsense or other in dwarven.

    Seeing her ally almost taken out, Cassie fearlessly charges into the barrels ahead in the hopes of her body crashing onto whatever may be lurking around the barrels! The barrels make a loud crash and splinter all around as Cassie's stout frame collides with them! Luckily for her - the barrels she landed on seemed to have been empty for quite some time.

    Syviraux is up still, and Reaven has an action.

    A widening of the eyes and a mental exclamation of 'Oh ****!' immediately follow the the crossbow bolt flying centimeters in front of his face.

    Calming his shaken nerves, he turns his head in the direction that the bolt originated from, before he rushes to find the soon to be dead orc that nearly killed him, an show him the proper way to kill someone.

    I move to where the shot came from, (1d20+6)[25] perception to find the orc if I need to roll, if not and I'm in range then I use clinging shadow strike.

    (1d20+2)[5] to hit, (1d20+2)[20] for crit confirm.

    If it hits (1d6+1)[5] for base, then bonus for CSS (1d6)[1]

    If I hit, the orc needs to make DC13 fort save or take a 20% miss chance for one round.

    Syviraux follows Cassie and Reaven into the room, quickly scanning for sources of danger. Seeing Reaven engaged in combat with another orc, she maneuvers to a favourable position and releases another 30' jet of fire from her maw.

    The keen draconic lady steps into the room and tosses a gout of flame in the direction of the shooter - the flame catches the barrel which spreads to another. Before long a coarse cough is heard and a loud crash is heard - like something was dropped and someone was being "smoked out". The Orc stumbles about blindly, hand grasping the blade at his belt, he collapses to his knees as he tries to breathe through the smoke!

    The Orc rests in C5, and the device he was firing rests in A6. He is prone, and each of you are up. Kill him or Let him live - it's your decision.

    Syviraux seems shocked at how easily the barrels catch alight - her's is but a hatchling's breath compared that of a grown dragon. They must be extremely try, or full of flammable materials.

    "Everybody out of the room!" she calls. "We'll close the door and contain the smoke." She levels her loaded crossbow at the orc. "You too, orc. You're coming with us."

    Aye, yes, the barrels were incredibly dry - long periods of unuse will do that to wood. The Orc carefully walks backwards through the open door, careful not to turn his back on the loaded weapon. Although the fire seems rather self-contained - it doesn't appear that it would spread. In the event anyone happened to grab the weapon the Orc was firing, you find it to be a really large crossbow - almost twice that of a Heavy Crossbow. It has a large wench installed to pull the strings back and apply a maximum amount of tension to every shot - you'd estimate this to be the strength of roughly eight mousetraps going off at once on your finger.

    For the Orc himself, you'd notice something doesn't seem right - he seems unusually well groomed (by Orc standards of course). He was wearing finely pressed dress pants and what would appear as...an Officer's shirt? Based on the medals displayed on his chest, you'd ascertain his equivalent "rank" in whatever outfit he may be involved in to be near that of a Sergeant.

    If anyone grabbed the device the Orc was firing, here are the stats.

    Cassie, Reaven, & Syviraux each gain 600 experience points. Dexam, if this puts the two of them over 1k exp and not you, go ahead and bump your experience pts the remaining amount needed to hit 1,000.

    Reaven picks up the large crossbow and walks out the burning room, sword at the ready, but not held in a threatening manner.

    Dropping the ranged weapon to his side, he wipes a bit of soot off his face with his now free hand and asks his companions, "So... anyone speak orc?"
