Re: Trogland Meetup VIII: Now with the appropriate amount of tentacles!
all that shows is I'm not stupid enough to kill someone in a hotel booked under my name.
now someone's home where I can make it look like a botched break-in...
sometime I like to not put white text in just to make you look for something that's not there... like now.

Re: Trogland Meetup VIII: Now with the appropriate amount of tentacles!
So...I do think we had more people with car trouble than we had people that made it through the weekend without steed troubles, BUT all that aside, what did everyone think?
Did the weekend go well? Were there enough games to pick from? Was there anything that we could do differently/better for next year? Good restaurant choices?
What did people like? What did people dislike?
This year, we tried a theme, "peices of eight." Lots of people went with pirate themed badges (which Penguinsushi did a fantastic job with!) (Seriously, we should post a picture of one of the badges) and we had a pirate themed swag item! Did anyone have any thoughts on the theme? Themes are fun? Theme was good, but more needed to be done with it? Wait...there was a theme? Thoughts on that?
As a co-ordinator, I apologize to my attendees. I feel that I didn't get to give this con as much attention as it deserves this year. I had wanted to get some like "piratey" room decorations, but the new job thrust upon me with little training, sapped up a lot of my time and energy.
As an attendee, I had a blast! I got to try lots of new games, which is always a goal at a gaming con. I got to see so many fun people again and LadyTreeHawkPants seemed really nice, the little time we got to hang out. Many traditions were continued. Kitty got a birthday cake (Yay good tradition) and I was killed in Aye Dark Overlord (Boo Bad traditions).inner circle Legionary of Resiliance
I love my Ceikatars!

Re: Trogland Meetup VIII: Now with the appropriate amount of tentacles!
I dunno about the first day since I was not there, but the theme wasn't super prevalent in Saturday's events. Maybe could have adapted Cash n Guns to be piratey? Gitp eyepatches?
I enjoy themes so I think the tradition is worth continuing, but it wasn't really noticeable.
As for the success of the con, despite travel difficulties I had a blast. You all are wonderful people and worth the journey. I can't wait for the next one.

I gotta say the highlight of the weekend for me was beating Mauve in one game of cribbage. Really did a number for my self-esteem after last year's embarassment.

Re: Trogland Meetup VIII: Now with the appropriate amount of tentacles!
We had a great time during that weekend, despite hotel "hiccups" along the way. The game choices were great, the restaurants were excellent, and the company was well worth the trip. It was a hectic trip, and if we have an option to do it differently next year we may try not to drive the whole way, or at least have a little bit more time to do it in. That's not a reflection of anything but our decisions, though.
I'm almost in the "Wait, there was a theme?" camp... I saw the "Pieces of Eight" theme in the badges (which were absolutely beautiful, by the way) and the loot bags, but nowhere else, I don't think. I guess I just thought it was a play on the 8th year of the meetup and nothing more. Maybe I would have noticed more pirate themed avatars, if mine wasn't pirate themed by default? I dunno.
I think a theme would be a really fun idea if implemented a bit more thoroughly. Maybe have a table of specifically themed games, or something? I like Mauve's idea of tayloring Cash n Guns live. Not sure how much work that would take, but it would add flavor to the theme.
All in all, grand success (barring all the car troubles faced this year) and I'm already looking forward to next year.Still taking avatar requests! Visit my Portfolio!

Re: Trogland Meetup VIII: Now with the appropriate amount of tentacles!
Didn't realize there was a theme until I got the bag. Which I love. The Fate game was pirate-themed. So I guess we helped stay with the theme.
If I'd have known there'd be a theme, I would have looked up pirate questions for Playground Squares. (Not going to happen again.)
As for car troubles, I think the next time I go to Trogland, I'll just rent a car instead of driving one of my own. For two hundred, I don't have to worry about ever having to pay for another differential again!
But, back to the fun!
I loved the other three days of my vacation. Thursday and Monday could have been better. But the gaming and RPing were great. And of course Kubb was great fun.

Still sobbing openly about missing this
never again
"This is why it hurts the way it hurts.
You have too many words in your head.
There are too many ways to describe the way you feel.
You will never have the luxury of a dull ache.
You must suffer through the intricacy of feeling too much"
