Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
Sounds good!
Why on earth would a Raaneki accept payment? In all seriousness though, I was inspired by an article a few months ago about Hawaiian sexual taboos before the Westerners arrived... I remember it being pretty common for total strangers to pass each other on a path, exchange a couple friendly words, then squeeze out a quick lay before parting ways. Very, very relaxed and open feelings about affection.
tl;dr: Raaneki are easygoing hedonists.Avatar by the wonderful and talented Ceika!Playing:

Trade deals? I've got all my wine and lumber tied up at the moment, but I've got colored sandstone out the yay-hoo. Ever want to build a bright pink palace? What about the green one? Black? Purple? Peuce? Topaz? Any other color?

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
Hmmm. Morph had it where all your resources were tied up, and it seems that wasn't part of your terms in your union set up. I just thought all nations were getting twice the amount of horses each.
In fact, it's been specified that way for 2 rounds now, so you'll need to take an action to reformat that agreement. You guys have been crossbreeding horses for a few turns, it seems.Last edited by TheWombatOfDoom; 2014-02-12 at 04:04 PM.

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
That's some great fluff right there.
And I'm totally onto you.
The only details we ever got from the trade between the Union of the North was "we send each other all our resources" in the OOC thread and "the details would take too long to write out" in the main game thread. It has been listed since Round 1 that all horses are tied up in trade, and none of you have made note of it until now.
By this point, I'd think it more than fair that to amend the alliance agreement with regards to the horses either Crima/Ashenia would have to spend an action on it before the respective country could start trading those horses to others.
When it comes to noting down details of countries and their agreements, nothing is assumed. Be sure to put a reminder up that you trade a resource with your allies each time you gain a new resource as per your alliance agreements.
Haven't read deeply enough into Raaneki (or Hawaiian) culture, sooo... no.
Um, yes. That's "exactly" what that merchant is getting at.Last edited by Morph Bark; 2014-02-12 at 04:05 PM.

What colors would you like your city to be? We got all types.
Provided the continent Raaneki is on is a peninsula, I think we'll be able to establish sea trade without too much fuss.
Turns out Angkor Wat is made of sandstone! So... give or take at least 900 years.Avatar by the wonderful and talented Ceika!Playing:

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
Ugh, just had a four-hour long power cut and the only tab I had loaded was a nasty RAW vs RAI debate. That was a long four hours.
In other news, I don't think I'll be able to spend an action on visiting the Raaneki games. I've got SO MUCH TO EXPLORE. Anyway, so I'll send an inactive representative, probably that reprobate Prince Tuthin.
And now it appears that bats can sing. I'm both horrified and intrigued.I'm also on the Bay12 Games forums under the same username.

It hasn't, but we'll spend an action this turn or next. Just wanted it up there while it was on my mind.

Speaking of which, I still need details from these Treaty/agreement things:

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
We're all for reprobates over here in Raaneka, but here's what I'm thinking: you and Qarimos are lookin to negotiate this round, and I'd like to negotiate with both of you. Think we could consolidate? avr?
EDIT: *Plus,* I notice you're using your second action to negotiate that trade. All you folks would have to do is change the location of your negotiations.
While I'm at it... I've been acting under the impression that--mechanically speaking--the different actions are tied together. For example: if I trade with Lyradis as my second action, Lyradis must not only also use an action to complete the trade, but must use their second action to do so. Is that accurate?Last edited by Zap Dynamic; 2014-02-12 at 05:35 PM.

In yur example Lyradis would not have to spend their 2nd action to match your 2nd action ,they'd just have to spend an action that round. On that part I'm certain, the next part I believe is true but I'm not 100% certain. I believe trades/acts of diplomacy can even be confirmed/accepted the following round (again, not mattering which action within the following round is used) but after that they expire and are considered failed.

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
For the most part. Though all your actions could take place in your first year too. It's really a case of as it fits, but most try and line it up. For example - All my posts last session. I lined them up, but I didn't have to.
Diplomatic actions can be confirmed the round after but expire after that.Last edited by TheWombatOfDoom; 2014-02-12 at 05:45 PM.

Re: EMPIRE! A Community World-Building Game II: 2 Quest, 2 Curious
Ooh, ok then, I'll send Tuthin to negotiate. Begin the games! I hope Avr is ok; I've not seen them around much.
I don't think actions are linked like that; the whole time spacing of actions within the turn is pretty arbitrary anyway.
And I made a post about the Silver Pact here, but I have now revised that to:
1. Military aid, for defence and in extreme circumstances aggression.
2. Open borders to each other, so military units can get through.
3. General exchange of cultural ideas (fluff mostly).I'm also on the Bay12 Games forums under the same username.

Anyone interested in having someone be married off to Kirito?
He's... 21 now, I think."Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not, we never are. But that's not the right question. The question is: are we living a life that is worth the harm?"
