The Fighting Style of The Caramel Kingdom in Esuma

Description: Esumans are a jovial and active people in both mind and body. While their main concern is finding fulfillment by broadening the horizons of their crafts, the necessity for self defense has caused their way of life to be molded into a fighting style as well. With acrobatic bodies and sharp minds, Esumans tumble around their foes and dishearten them with displays of skill.

    Notable Moves:

Center Ring: A calming technique developed by Esumans to synchronize their body and mind before a fight begins. This allows them to take in and react to information much more quickly than normal. Attempts to shock, frighten, or otherwise influence an Esuman’s mind are dulled while the Esuman is in this state. Since this requires much discipline to maintain, the state can slip away the longer the Esuman is in battle.

Heartstrings: The movements of Esuman fighters tug at the mind and spirits of their opponents. Fighting in such a way as to draw out their opponents into overextending themselves and then attacking at points of weakness, the Esumans dishearten and exhaust their foes until they are able to bring the fight to an end.

Peony: Named after the “Spherical break of colored stars” produced by the Spectacular, this move is the defining offensive act of the Esuman fighting style. After an opponent has been successfully manipulated and worn down, or just as a last ditch effort, an Esuman can take a quick step strike unnoticed. The sudden increase in speed allows Esumans to slip past defenses while their opponents are unaware and strike at fatal points. The exertion required to pull this off though can be detrimental to the Esuman if the gamble does not pay off.

Notable Users: Members of the royal guard are required to master this fighting style. Other masters keep the tradition of this fighting style alive by teaching it as an art form during times of peace. The techniques of the body, mind, and spirit are ingrained in carnival troupes, scholars, and artists across the nation.

Extras: Chakrams, Rope Darts, Juggling Knives, and other Finesse weapons are all used to outmaneuver opponents.

    Resolute Star
Prowess style of the Kingdom of the Isles

    Location: Siranol; Sanglea

Origin: A fighting style recently developed by two Sanglean Justicars, it started out as a way to show off among comrades, with it's focus on dizzying spins and flashy kicks and was soon realized to be a way to make the sharpened Sanglean stilts even more deadly in battle.

Principles: The Order of the Resolute Star seeks balance above all else. The idea of balancing your mind, body and spirit is very important, and the men who dedicate themselves to this practice restrained moderation in their day to day lives. Focus, determination and perseverance are ideals highly prized by Resolute Star practitioners.

Discipline: A stilted martial art that combines elements of balance, acrobatics and quick strikes. It was developed in Siranol mainly by two Justicars of the prestigious Regent's Regiment. founded in 535 with native Sanglean stilted influences, it is known for quick and complex moves, using mainly balance, speed, and leverage for a wide variety of kicks, spins, and highly mobile techniques.

    Notable Moves:

    Falling Star:
The fighting stance. Resolute Star places a high value on movement and versatility. The basic stance of Resolute Star is not a rigid and immobile one as in some other martial arts, but instead a fluid, swaying movement. Practitioners should always be moving, and strikes are dodged rather than blocked.

    Prayer to the Stars:
Following the momentum of their thrusting opponent, the practitioner turns accordingly, bringing his left leg sharply backward to place it in between his opponents legs and his body follows, turning left around, while simultaneously he presses his two palms together as in prayer and shoves them out and up, striking his enemy in the throat.

    Shining Star:
The practitioner turns his body anti-clockwise, bends his right knee, places his both hands on the ground to support his body, and kicks back his stilted his left leg at his adversary's abdomen, front knee, chest or face, depending on which spot offers him the best target, swiftly rolling to safety afterwards if necessary.

    Supernova:
As an enemy attacked, a Resolute Star Master would hook his attack with his left hand and strike his opponent's eye with his right hand, while their left foot kicked at his groin. If he tries to ward off my top hand attack, he will be hit at the bottom by a low painful kick to the groin with a pointed stilt. If he tries to wards off the practitioner's kick, his eye will be hit. If he tries to retreat, The practitioner would jump in with the kicking leg, and attack his opponent's dominant leg, while the attacking left hand will cover his enemy's two hands and his right hand will strike at his opponent's eyes with accuracy. Such continuous multiple attacks, especially when the opponent's hands are encumbered and moving in closely each time his opponent retreats, is formidable.

Notable Users: The Founders of the Order of the Resolute Star, both previously Justicars of the Regent's Regiment: Arlen Khidell and Elas Vander.

Notable Weapons: Sharpened Stilts in the style of Sanglea are required.

Königstab ("King's Wand", Hammer or Mace)

Country of Origin: The technique was developed during the reign of King Hroar of Glazfell, to accommodate his preferred style of war. Though designed for the King personally, the technique is not entirely limited to the Kings of Glazfell; however, it is not particularly useful in war and it is strictly a dueling style.

Description: Königstab is a dueling style and is never used in a formation or by the lowborn. A practitioner usually wears heavy or even fully ceremonial armour and a large blunt weapon that can be held in one hand and swung with two. The resting stance is very straight, with feet at forty-five degrees and the heels touching, both hands on the weapon. This position can be reversed, and usually indicates a more aggressive strategy to come. Timing and economy of motion are key; skillful use of the elbow and armpit to maintain leverage while wielding a spear one-handed can greatly increase the potency of all techniques.

    Notable moves:

    Langenstaus und Kurzegard:

    Kurzenstaus und Langenhou:

    Langensreich:

    Langendrall:

Notable users: King Hroar, King Ghalle, and King Torre have had known proficiencies in the style. King Khyne learned it, but preferred the sword.

    - Ahma Haiftsjan Berjast -

Country of Origin - Fera, Vythau

The Yslynd did not have a name for their style of dueling before they met the first Blews Haljans. Though no effort is made to make natural weapons such as claws or spines safer, the Yslynd style is relatively safe between Yslynd (though perhaps not between an Yslynd and a Human). The duel is most used between Fauna Yslynd as a way of showing off in front of potential mates. After a time, this practice evolved into a sort of martial art and to this day retains its more aesthetic nature. Ahma Haiftsjan Berjast is an unarmed style often involving gymnastics or showy movements over the purely functional motions of more effective disciplines. When the first raiders came into Vythau, it became evident that if the Yslynd were to survive they would have to adapt. Ahma Haiftsjan Berjast's techniques involving a dangerous opponent are newer and though they retain the more visually appealing style of motions, by necessity they generally tend to be more practical than aesthetic.
