Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
Bronze Dragons have the [water] subtype and a swim speed, but their ECL tends to be on the high side for their size. Do you plan to use it as a mount, as a companion or as a familiar?
A fitting choice for an aquatic campaign could be a (Young) Dragon Turtle. Scaling it down to large and removing a few HD might put it on par with a dragonne.Last edited by iTookUrNick; 2014-02-18 at 12:25 PM.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
Never intended to have a dragon mount. I mean, Nerethera can fly at will (Borne Alof) and teleport at will (Dimensional Jaunt), so, no real need for a mount.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
If you wanted to use the feat wile doing minimum changes to your build, you could use Mithral Full plate rather than adamantine, as it counts as medium armor. You'd even get back a feat (Battle Caster, now useless) in the process!
That said, I agree the utility of the feat is debateable*, considering that limitation. I'll think about it a little more and get back to you.
*It's not bad, mind you.Last edited by iTookUrNick; 2014-02-18 at 03:21 PM.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
... Yeah... about that... just realized that Warmage's don't actually have heavy-armour proficiency...
So I should probably swap the full-plate out for a breasplate...

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
I know this is kind of a big change, but if I were to play a warmage, I would take the (worthless) Arcane Preparation and Cooperative Spell feats and enter the Mage of the Arcane Order prestige class from Complete arcane: Warmage 6/MotAO 4. That way, if I ever wanted my character to fly all day long, I would have him use the Spellpool to gain access to the Overland Flight spell (or any other situational spell I might ever need).
That said, I would probably go Sorcerer instead. Perhaps Battle Sorcerer, if you are dead set in wearing full plate.
*Mithral Fullplate is a Medium Armor, and actually 6k cheaper than adamantine.Last edited by iTookUrNick; 2014-02-18 at 04:17 PM.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
For the record. You do know that I'm using Warmage retooling, right?
Wasn't there a ruling that you still take penalties when wearing heavier armour that has been made lighter through Mithral? I mean yeah, its lighter. But its still rather big and bulky.
Plus, I want the adamantine's DR

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
Yes, you still need Hvy Armor Proficiency to use those armors ... even if they become 'medium' through special materials. Hence, you need the ol' Battle Caster if you really want Full Plate. Why specifically do you want DR? Just a thing, or is it required for your build somehow?

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
No, I was not aware. I confess i only gave a cursory glance at your sheet, and that only because of your mentioning of a feat i did not know/remeber.
Regarding Mithral and proficiency, what you say is true in Pathfinder, a change from 3.5 D&D. It even says so in the commentary section of the link you provided! My day job is killing me. But I will rise again, more powerful than ever!

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
Wrong. Mithral Fullplate works in all ways like a medium armor, you still take the ACP downgraded or not. So a rogue for instance can wear Mithral Breastplate without needing to get the Armor Prof. feat. As noted in PF it's different...you need the proficiency to wear it whether or not the armor acts like a lesser armor.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
I guess I never saw explicit rules saying otherwise, so I presumed it required proficiency. Verbiage under mithral states "Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations." I figured if they meant proficiencies, they would have said that ... or just said "counts as medium armor - period." I took other limitations to be things like ACP ...
Any specific place where the rules confirm your absolute assessment?Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.

Re: Privateers of the Sword Coast OOC
Okay, just got home from work. Before I dig into this armor thing and chime in, what is your current hope/plan with it, Tempestfury, so I look into the right things? Which direction would you like to go with it, and what benefits are you hoping to enjoy? It sounded like you were a little on the fence with it.
Also for Tempestfury, your Dragon Cohort. Here are your options:
Wyrmling: Red (CE), Green (LE), Bronze (LG) or Blue (LE)
Very Young: Brass (CG), Black (CE) or White (CE).
Please note that dragons are very willful, and will act their alignment in most circumstances.
Now, I notice that you don't have the Leadership feat, which is required to get the dragon cohort. But if you rearrange your feats to get Leadership, then you can select one of the above. Normally, you can only gain an 8th "level" cohort, but dragon cohort allows you to lower their effective ECL, so I went up to 11th level ECL to get you the list above.
