Character Concepts
Anyone have any character concepts that are weird of cool that I could steal from you and try out?
I've been doing one as a Catarina Knight and following Seigmyers questline for the fun of it lately. Then I decided to just put the helm on a sorcerer and call it an Onion Sorcerer. Use the Grass Crest Shield and Karmic Justice whenever I fight anything that can deal a decent little chunk through the shield (Like invaders who NEVER see it coming.)Like RPGs? Like free stuff? Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Well, I forgot to rejoin the Princess Guard before killing Gwynevere. -_- Guess I'll be a sunbro.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
So yet again, I decided to play another character. Still haven't beaten the game once. This time I'm going for a bushi. Starting warrior, going to two-hand longsword until I get the uchigatana. Might forgo my usual dabbling in pyromancy for a bow this time.
And... ugh, facial structure really does look bad. Anyone know how to install a mod for better faces or overall appearance?Last edited by Hiro Protagonest; 2014-02-17 at 05:44 PM.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
So has GFWL been removed from Dark Souls now? I only play offline so I suppose I wouldn't have noticed.

Yes, Ciaran's dialogue more or less rules out her being human.
And I do hope that whatever they use for online play in DS2 is less dysfunctional than GFWL.My FFRP characters. Avatar by Ashen Lilies. Sigatars by Ashen Lilies, Gullara and Purple Eagle.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Meh. After a while, invaders and constant "praise the sun" gets old. I play extremely cautiously to begin with since the combat is so unforgiving of mistakes (and lord knows I make mistakes), so the warnings are rarely useful.
If it were possible, I'd play offline only. Games hard enough without invaders screwing up half an hours careful progress.
At least once you kill a boss, it doesn't respawn.I'm mostly here for Warframe and a tiny bit of RWBY.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
While I agree that sometimes you just want to "relax" (well as much as you can in a Souls game) a big draw of the game is the multiplayer aspect, invasions are just so much fun, at least for me.
Actually I think that some bosses should respawn, I'd love to fight Artorias more than once per playthrough... though on the other hand, others are just a pain in the ass (BoC I'm looking at you!)

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
I play offline, but only because at this point EVERY random PvPer at this point in the game's life is either a ridiculously powerful guy on a low-SL run who decided he didn't want to farm rats for his Chaos weapon, or a hacker (save editor counts as a hack).

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
That is a peculiarity of the PC port, despite the claims that hackers are everywhere in the console version I've yet to see a hacker, Mega-mule users? Definitely, but outright hackers with infinite health or move-set swapped weapons? Not that I can remember

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
I think players should have some control over the MP content and levels of PvP and PvE. The arena was a good example of expanding this.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Dark Souls Online: The MMOing.
I think that actually would be like Sword Art Online... oh and by the way, I decided to dual-wield katana on my new character since I decided to learn how to parry after watching the video linked in the last thread. I'll just two-hand against bosses.
I wish this game had armor with sode (the giant rectangles on the shoulders of Japanese armor that was basically invented so that samurai could use two hands while mounted and not give up the protection of a shield) that I could block with (in exchange it would make the armor heavier, give only 95% physical damage reduction or something, and you couldn't parry with it, so I think it would be fairly balanced. Plus "balance" and "Dark Souls" don't really go together). Then I could be like a real samurai.Avatar of George the Dragon Slayer, from the upcoming Indivisible!

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
The Easter armor looks somewhat like a Samurai armor. I personally wouldn't reccomend dual wielding katana, the 1handed moveset is SOOO good that you will most likely only use to the off-hand weapon to parry.

Well, that's curtains for Gwyn. I killed him on my first attempt with my sorcerer. Solaire drawing away his attention probably helped.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Does dual-wielding give it a different moveset? Because there's functionally no difference between parrying with your hand and parrying with a katana (currently I'm using the Estoc in the off-hand as it has an ever-so-slightly faster recovery time), and I just thought that the dual-wielding would look cooler.
Also, I don't really care for the look of the Eastern Armor (actually I think the the standard warrior armor, leather with a steel helm, is pretty accurate to samurai armor), I was just brainstorming an idea for a sode (I figure the block would replace the L1 of anything that's not a shield).
Edit: Well, that kills all the speculation about Gwyn's firstborn.Last edited by Hiro Protagonest; 2014-02-18 at 04:40 PM.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Instead of playing offline, I tend to just stay Hollowed. That way you still get to see the Orange chalk marks, blood stains, invisible phantoms, vagrants, etc.

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
Ooh, Vagrants, I forgot about those.
Plus I do have the Blue Eye Orb on my scythe-wielder, and I think I'll get that on my other characters from now on...
But I play offline because I know enough that I don't need the chalk marks, and I like to turn human to summon NPCs at every boss (I summon all available NPCs on every boss, it's a compulsion).Avatar of George the Dragon Slayer, from the upcoming Indivisible!

Re: Dark Souls II: The Thread, Not the Game
If I were to hack Dark Souls, which I can't do because I know nothing of programming other that it works and doesn't work for reasons unknown and consists of parents and children, I would at the very least be funny about it by walking around as a boss or one of the bigger monsters. I mean, who wouldn't get a kick out of seeing the Bed of Chaos, The Four Kings, or Ravelord Nito walking around in a red aura trying to kill you? I would.

4 ring slots, according to Vaati.
I think it should be cool, as long as things like Havel and FaP are not a thing. Cookie cutter rings, IMO.Avatar of Rudisplork Avatar of PC-dom and Slayer of the Internet. Extended sig
