Collyer-san, it's all done, but I'm having trouble with Inkscape; when I attempt to export as a bitmap file, it tells me that the location I have selected is invalid. Expect delays.

Incidentally, help from any Inkscape users would be appreciated.

Well, I'm a new inkscape-user so i guess I qualify into the group "any".
Maybe you are trying to export it into a folder that don't excist any more? I usually use my desktop as a general spot of temporary storage.
But I suspect you have already tried to change the location of export.

Well I'd like to request an avatar. Let's start with the general shape and gear on the character since I have an image that fits my idea fairly well. I'm still new on these forums so forgive me if a screw up the image a few times.

Kill the feather in the hat, replace the facial hair with stubble, the gun with a hip flask, and the axe with a trusty walking stick and you'll get what I'm aiming at. A middle aged, portly, weatherbeaten traveller. I'm thinking the pose should be him taking a drink from the hip flask.

My sincere thanks to anyone who can make it. The raw talent on these forums astounds me.

Human, Female - Dark skin, White hair in a loose bun.
She's a fire mage - I would like her wielding either a staff (red) or a runed book. I'm not fussy, just what ever is easiest Could she wear a robe of some kind? Somewhat more clothing than the standard avvy I am using

Elf, Female - light mauve skin, dark (but bright) blue shaggy shoulder length hair.
This one is a priest. Can she wield a staff, and wear a white robe, with purple trim? If you can come up with a cool way of implying that she is casting a heal - that would be awesome.

The pose is good, but move his right arm in toward his body a bit (more of a 45-degree angle) and give him a Naginata instead of the katana, held blade-down with the haft extending up behind his back.

Any advice, people? I can't figure this out.

I have very little knowledge of... Pretty much everything, but specifically I don't know much about image creating programs. So all I can really suggest is using a decent image editor to resize/reshape the image; playing around with it until it looks good enough...

I'm sure someone with some expertise will be along in a while to advise properly.

You have thre options
1-Shrink it and lose quality
2-Keep it big and use it as a sigatar rather than an avatar
3-Cut a part of it and use, for example, just the upper half of the image.

Hint, right click on the image, choose properties, then get ad use the dimensions... It will make your avatar look like it originally did.
