    Default Issue with Spoilers (possibly isolated to PM's)

    In my PM's, I have conversations where I spoiler older content so as to keep the previous messages within the PM, but not take up a bunch of room in the actual PM. I just went to review such a PM where there were multiple spoilers within it, and the area the text was able to fill got less and less until it actually was only 1 letter of a word per row, and virtually unreadable. Basically, the forum isn't giving as much room to spoilered material, I think because the quote bubbles take up more space. As this is in the PM area, its even smaller due to the control panel for the PM's.

    I don't think there is any way around having some issues after a certain depth. Since each spoiler/quote reduces the available width some problems will happen after a certain amount (though it is interesting that the Nested Spoiler alone starts to just convert spoiler tags to normal text - so some depth "restriction" is at work).

    The only workaround would possible to check for a certain depth level and warn while posting (or even prevent posting like character count), or to redesign the spoiler/quote tags that they don't use (less) extra width. (And I think that is what you want to propose?) But honestly I don't think that would be worth the work (if it is really doable anyway). [But I wouldn't mind, I liked the old quote boxes more. But I think if it would be doable to get something more like the old ones, we would have them.]

    So the only thing you can do to stop awkward behavior is by limiting yourself in regards to depth of spoilers/quotes. (If you haven't done so, you can hide the side panel to have more space, making the issue less severe.)



    Just so that anyone can't complain after wasting time: there is nothing interesting hidden in those spoiler tags. (Unless you find more spoiler/quote tags interesting)

    Opening all those spoilers in Christian's post and scrolling up and down is hypnotic.

    Anyways, I find that in a long conversation, usually the oldest parts are no longer very relevant. If they are, they can be archived elsewhere anyways. Just deleting some of the oldest quotes should keep this problem at bay.
