suggestions for giant monster themed music?
Ok, so, once, a long time ago i asked you fine people for help finding space themed music for a space themed luchador to use in a wrestling video game, and i was given a huge amount of great suggestions, now i have returned to ask a similar question, for similar reasons!
in WWE 2k14 a friend and i created a wrestler who is Kaiju themed, and i'm having trouble finding appropriate theme music, so, playground, know of anything that could work for this? while i don't have a genre in mind, i know i'd like the music to be both ominous, AND have an energy to it.

I was gonna say: Pacific Rim all the way. 2,500 Tons of Awesome, perhaps? Go Big or Go Extinct?

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
yeah, i looked into pacific rim (and found an awesome metal cover of the main theme) but its music, and the music from attack on titan for that matter are much too upbeat, its music for the puny humans to fight the giant monsters to, but this guy IS the giant monster.

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
You mentioned Attack on Titan; what about this theme? (Spoilers for the series, but I presume you've seen enough of it.) The first half, in particular.
Or, hold it, OH DANG. I think you'll like this one. (Also from AoT.) If I daresay myself...I think it's exactly what you're looking for. (There's really two halves to it, though. You may want to cut it down.)Last edited by CarpeGuitarrem; 2014-04-08 at 08:39 PM.

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
While I'm not sure if it's entirely suited to your purposes (it's not exactly fast) the piece that tends to come to mind when I picture 'giant thing moving' is Mammoth by Pelican.
For more actiony/energetic options there's always some of Frank Klepacki's work (the man who did the music for the Command & Conquer games), most appropriate tracks probably being Vengeance Beast, He Lives or Machines Collide.
Alternatively...

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
Moby Dick is the original kaiju. As such, Mastodon's Leviathan and Ahab's Call of the Wretched Sea are great fits. I linked the songs more about the whale, but if he's themed around fighting kaiju, pick one of the songs about Ahab off one of those records.

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
Some of Lovecraft themed music by Nox Arcana could work very well for Kaiju.
Cthulhu Raising - almighty monster rising from the deep seas anyone?
Guardian of the Gate can serve similiar purporse.
So can the Stars Align (through for me it will be always music for battle with giant tarantula).
Very different tone, but works well for giant creatures (I once used it for giant scorpions) would be Volton Unit.

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
Godzilla's Rage from GMK is a pretty great piece, though it depends on if you're looking for an entrance piece or something long.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZaMGE8DFvQ You've got about a minute of pure dynamite, and then it settles into something more quiet and ominous briefly before going pure apocalyptic.

Re: suggestions for giant monster themed music?
Not an actual soundtrack per se, but Septic Flesh does an incredible job of suggesting creatures of colossal size.
This is the end. Unless, possibly, it isn't.
