Default Any Dragon's Lair owners/managers/employees out there? Could use some advice.

Dragon's Lair is wanting to open up a location in my area, and my wife and I are heavily considering it. I've read through their franchise program info and the lack of catches seems to make it too good to be true.

I was looking for feedback on their training, exactly what you owe them on the back end after they get you set up, unexpected things, how much of a hand they have in day to day things, will we actually own our assets, etc etc. Any and all info would be appreciated.

You're targeting a narrow and specific enough group that I'd be surprised if any of them actually see this and respond. Try finding some existing Dragon's Lair stores and calling them directly to ask.

This won't really help for unexpected gotchas, but for anything that you think of in advance: ask the franchise representative specifically, get the answer in writing, possibly even in a contract and signed if it's important enough, and have a lawyer look it over.

I figured it was going to be a long shot, but this seemed the most likely place to ask. I am concerned that anyone I talk to in person or over the phone wouldn't be wholly honest, figured anonymity would be the way to go.

    Thanks for the advice though!

Another long shot, but you might want to see if you can learn what happened at Rogue's Gallery. When the location first opened it was a Dragon's Lair franchise, but then switched. I don't know why the switch occurred, but someone there might be able to tell you if it was dissatisfaction, or if it just wasn't profitiable enough.
