    Default Shadows of the Faithful

    SHADOWS OF THE FAITHFUL

Though my interest in shadow magic in regards to D&D and Pathfinder has never truly faded, my inspiration regarding it has been rekindled, reading peacenlove's Complete Shadow Magic. The content here will be designed to go with this content, and as the title will revolve around faith in some form or another. This will not be just a one and done project, but a continuing basis. Should I come up with enough content that pertains to shadow but regards a differing subject then I may create a separate thread and a link here to it. I'd mark this as a work in progress, but it always should be a continuing work in progress. Anyways, without any further adieu, let us begin.

    ARCHETYPES

    Black Occultist

    Diminished Mysteries
A Black Occultist only acquires a single mystery at each level, instead of 1 on odd numbered levels and 2 on even numbered levels. A Black Occultist only requires, however, two mysteries of a given level before they can take mysteries of the next level up.

    Bind Spirit
Starting at 1st level, a Black Occultist can seal pacts with spirits. The character's binder level equals his or her shadowcaster level, and the character binds spirits as an occultist of that same level. A Black Occultist uses Charisma on binding checks and when adjudicating the effectiveness of granted abilities.
This replaces the Umbral Sight class feature.

    Spirited Mysteries (Su)
While the Black Occultist is bound to a spirit, creatures that are considered that spirit's favored enemies treat the DC and caster level of the Black Occultist's mysteries as being +1 higher. This bonus to caster level does not apply to the mystery's range.

    Shadow Cultist
Most commonly adherents to faiths connected to shadow and darkness, shadow cultists integrate shadow magic with the traditions of clergy. While the vast majority tend towards deities that possess the darkness domain, this is far from universal.

    Class Skills
The Shadow Cultist's class skills are Appraise (Int), Bluff (Int), Craft (any) (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (the planes) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (any) (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), and Stealth (Dex)

    Devotee of Shadow
At 1st level, you learn a single orison which behaves as a fundamental, and in place of Intelligence you require a minimum Wisdom score to cast your mysteries. Furthermore, you select a single domain of your choice. You gain its spells, and the abilities associated with said domain at their appropriate level. Your domain spells may be cast only 1/day, and are treated as mysteries of their level, including advancing what form they take. They do not count towards your number of mysteries known for the purpose of increasing the maximum level mystery you may cast, nor may you acquire addition uses for them (Except by means of the versatile shadowcaster feat). If you worship a deity, as normal, your domain must be selected from the domains associated with said deity.
This replaces one of your fundamentals known at 1st level, and you may have 1 less path mastery active at any given time.

    FEATS

    Ephemeral Watcher [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Monk level 1st, Shadowcaster level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Monk and Shadowcaster stack for the purposes of the acquisition and advancement of your ki pool, both in terms of points and abilities, and for the caster level of your mysteries. In addition, half of your Shadowcaster levels are added to your monk level for the purposes of determining unarmed strike damage.
Furthermore, you gain a new use for your ki pool. By expending 1 ki point, you may deliver unarmed strikes to any creature within 30 feet for one round. This damage is done as nonlethal damage, and may be used to deliver touch attacks.
Finally, you may multiclass freely between the Monk and Shadowcaster classes as long as you remain lawfully aligned.

    Forlorn Druid [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Druid level 1st, Shadowcaster level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Druid and Shadowcaster stack for the purposes of determining advancement of Nature Bond, the acquisition and advancement of wildshape, as well as for the caster level of any druid spells or shadowcaster mysteries you cast.
Your druid spells take on the same form as mysteries of their level, though are still cast as divine spells if mysteries of that level would be cast as arcane. For example, when your apprentice mysteries become spell-like abilities, so do your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level druid spells.
You may choose to expend a daily wild shape use as a free action to regain a daily use of a mystery of one grade lower than you can cast.

    Hexing Shadow [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Shadowcaster level 1st, Witch level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Shadowcaster and Witch stack for the purposes of the acquisition and saves to resist hexes, and the advancement of your witch's familiar, as well as for the caster level of any witch spells or shadowcaster mysteries you cast.
Furthermore, your witch spells take on the same form as mysteries of their level.

    Keeper of Mysteries [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Oracle level 1st, Shadowcaster level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Oracle and Shadowcaster stack for the purposes of determining your effective oracle level for the purposes of selecting revelations, both in number and in permitted selection.
Your oracle spells take on the same form as mysteries of their level, though are still cast as divine spells if mysteries of that level would be cast as arcane.
You may choose to expend a use of one of your revelations, provided it has a limited number of uses, to regain a use of a mystery. Revelations that can be acquired before 11th level can only be sacrificed to regain a use of an apprentice path mystery. Revelations that can be acquired after can be sacrificed to regain a use of an apprentice or initiate path mystery.

    Midnight Clergyman [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Cleric level 1st, Shadowcaster level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Cleric and Shadowcaster stack for the purposes of determining advancement of Channel Energy, the advancement and acquisition of domain abilities, as well as for the caster level of any cleric spells or shadowcaster mysteries you cast.
Your cleric spells take on the same form as mysteries of their level, though are still cast as divine spells if mysteries of that level would be cast as arcane.
You may choose to expend a daily channel energy use as a free action to regain a daily use of a mystery of one grade lower than you can cast.

    Shadow Hunter [Multiclass]
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Shadow, Judgement, Inquisitor level 1st, Shadowcaster level 1st
Benefit: Levels in Inquisitor and Shadowcaster stack for the purposes of determining advancement of Judgement, the advancement and acquisition of domain abilities, as well as for the caster level of any inquisitor spells or shadowcaster mysteries you cast.
Your inquisitor spells take on the same form as mysteries of their level, though are still cast as divine spells if mysteries of that level would be cast as arcane.
You may choose to expend a daily judgement use as a free action to regain a daily use of a mystery of one grade lower than you can cast.
Special: Sin Eater Inquisitors who take this feat may add their shadowcaster levels to their inquisitor level to advance Eat Sin.

    Shadow's Divide
    Prerequisite: Ability to cast mysteries
Benefit: You can choose to, as a free action, but no more than once per round, expend the use of a mystery to regain a single use of a mystery of one level lower. If the expended use is from a mystery of the same path, you regain two uses instead.

    Wretched Knight [Multiclass]
Prerequisites: Fundamentals of shadow, smite good 1/day, Shadowcaster level 1st, anti-paladin level 1st.
Benefit: Levels in Anti-Paladin and Shadowcaster for the purposes of determining the bonuses and daily uses of smite good and for the acquisition and progression of the fiendish boon class feature, as well as for the caster level of any Anti-Paladin spells or Shadowcaster mysteries you cast.
Your Anti-Paladin spells become spell like abilities. At 13th level they become supernatural abilities. You can apply any metashadow feats to them as though they were mysteries.
You may expend a daily smite attempt as a free action once per round to regain a daily use of a mystery of one grade lower that you can cast.
Special: If you previously were a paladin and possessed the Forlorn Knight feat, when you preform the ritual to trade your ex-paladin levels for anti-paladin levels you may trade Forlorn Knight for Wretched Knight.

Shadow-Touched: You possess a bond to shadow, though not as deep as that of your ancestors. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Stealth checks. This increases to +2 when made in areas of shadowy illumination or darkness. Furthermore you are treated as possessing the shadow subtype, but only for spells and effects that specifically refer to the shadow subtype (such as the Umbra Angelus subtype's disruptive aura).
Umbramancer: You're especially adept at casting shadow-based spells. You gain a +1 trait bonus on damage rolls for any spell you cast with the shadow descriptor, or any mystery you cast. Spells and mysteries that do not deal damage do not benefit form this trait.
