Empire! Regional Maps
This thread is to collate all the maps I've done so far for players of Empire! so that people can find them easily without having to dig through the OOC thread. When I change or correct maps I'll post the modified versions here.
If anyone would like to request a map please let me know!
Spoiler: Useful stuffObviously, it's easier to draw a map if I have something to work from. I'll work from Morph's world terrain map and the terrain and resources description in the region post and otherwise use my imagination. If there are features not listed there that you would like included (many posts don't mention settlements or roads, for instance) or if you want me to put a feature in a particular place that's not otherwise clear please let me know and I will add them to the map. If you already have a sketched map that's ideal!
Likewise, if you'd like me to use (or not use) a particular font, legend theme, border or what have you then please say so (although note that not all fonts work that well).
The maps don't always display well at this size, especially the big ones, and the full-size files are likely to be too big for the forum. If anyone wants the full-size png file I can email that or otherwise make it available.

Spoiler: "Ancient Elven" MapJarrland scholars have discovered an ancient elven map describing the kingdom of the south, and thus verifying beyond all doubt the right of the house of Jarrow to rule their neighbouring regions.
Some dastardly cynics, probably paid off by rival states, have raised petty objections questioning the veracity of this map, such as:
"I suppose it's reasonable that forests could have moved around over the last few hundred years, but probably not mountains"
"The only part of 'Ailar' shown on the map is the part that's visible from the mainland coast."
"It's convenient how the ancient elven scribes left space on the legend for a slightly larger translation"
"The ink was still wet when it came across my desk"
But these intellectual cowards are rightfully held in low esteem. The map is expected to play an important part in future diplomatic ventures.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
I just want to make sure that I'm understanding this correctly, because if so this will be wunderbar, you're offering to make maps by request? Maps in the particular style as above? If so I have many possible requests, as I'm going to be starting a new PbP game here on the forum, and I was having some difficulty thinking of the best way to create a map that could be used on the forum (I generally make mine on powerpoint). So this will be a great help, if you are indeed offering your cartography skills to the general playground-going-public.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Well, when I created the thread I was intending it particularly for players of the Empire! game since they're who I've been doing the maps for so far. I didn't really make that clear, whoops. But doing the odd one for other games wouldn't hurt if people would like them. They do take me a little while though, so I wouldn't want to overload myself with requests for lots of games.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Ach, I suppose I overlooked what now seems a bit obvious after looking at the title of the post, however, if you'd like to make one extra map... I'm just going to put in my request, if you don't want to do it that's entirely understandable (I occasionally try to draw maps myself and generally get mired down somewhere between the coastline and the rivers), if you do want to make it, that would be fantastic.
My idea of a map is very basic, practically a real-world example, in that the area of the Indian peninsula and the Arabian peninsula being squashed a little bit closer forming a large bay, with the Sumatran and Javan islands extending away from the tip of the Indian peninsula slightly enclosing the bay. The northern border of the map would be penned in by a mountain range that extends all the way down the "Indian" peninsula, keeping largely to the eastern side. Along the end of the "Arabian" peninsula there would be a small clump of mountains.
Quite frankly, beyond the coastal depiction, and the mountains, that would be all I'd really need. Deserts and forests and rivers and such really aren't all that important as I could just use the map as a general guideline for explaining to players where all of those features are specifically located. Once again, I completely understand if doing an extra map would be too much, and that's just fine, but on the off chance that you're willing to do so here's all the information that I can think of, as I just need a very rough map as something to point to. And if any other cartographers see this and would be willing to make a map for me, assuming Aedilred does not, I'd be much obliged for the help.Synvallius the Elder

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Just FYI, I have not forgotten about/ignored this, but my poor computer has rebelled after a couple of weeks of intensive Photoshop use and has started crashing about as soon as I even think about opening it. So I think it would be wise not to push it too hard, especially since it's getting on in years and I'm frankly surprised it's lasted as long as it has. I will return to the project when I'm a bit more confident my computer will survive the experience (or when I have my desktop - with a somewhat more formidable CPU and graphics card - repaired).

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Alright, I'm not in a great rush or anything (and after all, if you do make the map I'd be grateful regardless of when it's done, as it's not something you're obligated to do). So yes, hopefully your computer's problems get worked out, my computer also recently just crashed (or something like it) and we couldn't use it for a few weeks, so I know how annoying that can be.

This is the first-draft political world map I linked to in the OOC thread. It needs some revisions, which I will do after the main map has been expanded.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
A map of AQUA, done using a new style for the sea, borders and a couple of other elements which I think works a little better. I need to add a couple more islands.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Thanks. Given the "hand-drawn" style I think it works better than a dotted line, but I've struggled on previous ones to get it not to granulate and look very digital (it was also pointed out to me that my previous sea style looks very digital, hence the change there because I can't unsee it now). But I think I have an effect that displays ok for the borders now, if I can just get the lines in the right places.

Re: Empire! Regional Maps
Was messing around the other day and did this map. I updated it with the latest world map, and it currently shows the relation between lieges and their vassals with the acronyms used on the tech table.
It is to the best of my knowledge correct, if any mistakes are noted it will be quite easy to fix.

Damn, I know what happened I reorganised my photobucket account to put them in their own folder and it's broken all the links. I'll fix that.
