Mafia is generally okay, from what I've seen. Wolf is preferred. Anti-town works. If fluff makes the "bad guys" something different (e.g. in the Awesomenauts game, the bad guys are the Awesomenauts), that fluff name is generally preferred.

Voting is generally done by writing the name in red, like so: Askthepizzaguy

And ninja'ing seems to happen fairly frequently, as of recently.

I was going by this game... thought it was standard practice.

We don't even have Fools, cop variants are typically Watchers, Trackers, role cops (learn power, not alignment) and alignment cops (We just call these cops).

Actually it happened because the seer got autolynched day 2. Didn't want to give the wolves the opportunity to see that town is practicallly blind. And to crush the towns hope that the seer could be still alive. And when the fool died we rolled with it.

I wouldn't say preferred, just more common. We in general call them Werewolf games instead of Mafia games, so wolves vs villagers is sort of the default flavor, but people will understand and won't complain if you call them mafia. Also, another term:
Narrator = Moderator
Here, "Moderator" refers almost exclusively to forum moderators; people who run games are Narrators.

I'm cheating, though. I'm using friends from several different forums that I assembled through years of joining other people's games.

I'm like the ambassador of mafia games. I haz the connections.

You guys at GITP can get oodles of players, too. It's just that there would be a great big number of non-natives. I think what would be best for your forum and the culture you've built up over the years is not a gigantic influx of new players with foreign ideas. If you think one Askthepizzaguy is enough to make your games go crazy.... your games would be unrecognizable.

Imagine hosting a dinner party for 10 of your closest friends. But one of them brings a loud and boisterous guy you've never met, and then, he invites 10 more of his loud and boisterous friends. Now your dinner party isn't exactly how you pictured it anymore. I have some good people, good friends, awesome players. But I still don't want to spoil your dinner party.

Not quite. I was joking about feeling inadequate; I mentioned how honored I felt to have gotten this many players. But Lex seemed to feel bad about only getting 43, so I pointed out that she managed to get more GITP peoples, and I sorta cheated by dipping into different fora.
