When last I played, we explored an enemy camp and got a very important mission to defuse the bomb in the volcano to save the


OOH PLACE WE HAVENT BEEN, and there was nothing worth a darn here aside from this guy



Who we murder for 500 Gold, yay, anyways back north to stop the bomb..if it hasn't gone off already. It is a good thing we aren't timed in RPGs

Ryu still hasn't learned many skills, I have been focusing on giving him extra stats so he can destroy things..which he is very good at.



Bubblegum has some good healing spells, several status curing effects, and a few stat buffs for the turns she does not need to heal.



Harlock has turned into a giant wall of defense, it is strange that the Red Mage of the game can be turned into a tank.



The Engineer has slowly been..disappointing me in bad ways bombs are expensive for how much damage they do. I am hoping the class upgrade helps.


Oh no, this is going to be one of those dungeons, see Engineers should have a passive that lets them ignore terrain damage, build a bridge Gulyus!


This was an interesting puzzle, I have to push blocks to trap Shadows that reset the puzzle if they touch me, when I lower the lever I free them


This was the first of two bosses in the dungeon, I managed to get a screen shot of her..but the other one Ryu destroyed with a triple shot of crits from his Berserker ability, due to having to use Control+Alt+Print Screen to take screen shots it takes me about 20 seconds to get one..if a fight takes less than that..I don't get the chance.

Another puzzle on the way out, same as the other one with the shadows..just more I have to trap.

I'm amused that my thief had more MP than your entire party combined at this point. Granted he's my only character who can heal the whole party, and I wanted to be sure he wouldn't run out of magic during a dungeon. Currently my thief has more MP (900 something) than any 3 of my characters have HP (295-380/character), which would usually bother me more, but when I've invested more in defense than HP, if I'm in an area where I'm supposed to be things usually deal 1-5 damage and only crit for 10-20 damage. Really I find that if I'm getting TPK'd with one move I should probably mosey on elsewhere for now.

My personal suggestion is to go exploring before heading back to Doria. There is so much you have access to now that you have a boat (coliseum, casino, cave of trials, etc.). Really any island that only has one location on it is worth checking out. 2 bits of info if you've found any of the doors that require numbered passwords: 1. The passwords are SOMEWHERE in game (only found one so far myself, and its not really clear which door it goes to) 2. The doors lead to kickstarter backer created areas.

These can both be gotten from rewards at the coliseum and from the ring shop at the coliseum once you get to a specific rank there

Yeah I started some exploration, I just didn't post it. I figured a good stopping point was me wanting to murder Atticus.

I found the dragon's caves..and got my face kicked in real nice.

Yeah that sounds about right. I found it at level 25 and experienced similar results. Thanks to my thief I have a warehouse worth of camping supplies, so saving often is thankfully not an issue.

Atticus needs to jump off a bridge or something, cause that would be more useful than the information he provides. Really Dante too, since he's the one who sent you to see Atticus in the first place for "more information" on your plight. The more flashbacks I'm seeing the more I'm starting to think I know what's going on, and I have a couple of theories about the reveal, and if either of my theories is even close to correct, it'd explain a lot on why Dante and Atticus really don't know what's going on with your character. Doesn't make them any less useless though

Again, sorry about the lack of updates. It is college move in time and the past month has been horrible at my job..I have been working over time for the entire last month so I get like an hour a day to do things.

I also learned yesterday that the bus routes for the fall on sundays shift in a way that it is FASTER for me to walk the 6 miles to and from work than waiting for the bus, Public Transportation..WHOOOO!

When last we adventured, Atticus decided he wanted to take an axe to the face..I hope they put in a good/evil choice later in the game, We are so going to blow up the world if we get a chance, purely because the Evil of Dante and Atticus(And Helios, I forgot about him when writing this at first) need punished, and now that is finished I realize we have a boat..and that I can explore.

So the party heads to new places including the homes of several masters in hiding.


Including what I presume is the "official secret dungeon of hidden bosses!"

And the Puzzle master, yes he knows when I solve a puzzle, but can he do the Growing Vine puzzle from Lufia 2 without looking the solution up? I bet he can't.


We also discover this little gem, you hop in the black holes and come out another one simple right? well the hole you come out of is affected by the direction of the hole you go into so yeah, this took a bit, I had to take out a notepad for it actually. It has been a while since a Video Game puzzle made me take notes, bravo White Giant.

Unfortunately, I walked out of the room and met a random encounter..which murdered me very hard so that work all went to nothing, I am blaming Dante for this, you suck Dante.


And Moa races, I will come back for these later when I have more of the map netted out.


We also run into this guy in a castle that doesn't seem to matter yet, I am surprised there is no Ron Pearlman reference in his name.

Uhh, it looks to be a floating Island, I am not really wondering if these guys are Lufia fans, I will visit that when I find an air ship, which I would have already if Helios were not as incompetent as Team Rocket, First Season Monarch and Dr HeinzDoofenshirtz put together and kept the keys to the airship on his key ring.


Uhuh. It would have been more misleading to just have nobody talk about dragons if you wanted to hide the fact they exist.


According to the sign this swamp is dangerous and Doomtastic, so we will hop in just to get it on our map and Run away cause the last dangerous place I went into I got beat like a Metapod vs a Mewtwo.

Hopefully the next part won't take as long, the college kids are moving in this week so after that it should be smooth sailing till Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It would be, except you can only do each fight once. It does make for a nice boost though, as does the Cave of Mystics (can only do each room once there as well). I've yet to fully complete either yet, they do escalate in difficulty as they go and end up on the partymelting in a single move side of things. I've even made it to the point where hunts are giving me trouble, and I need to finish out this rank of hunts to open up a better selection of rings at the Areana. Decided to move along with the plot for a change of pace, and I've been facerolling everything now, whoops.

From where we left off last time We head north because there is a barrier around the swamp, and the strange castle place. There is nothing really important here so we move on to the next island in our world tour.

Hello Arena! distraction time

The Arena as previously mentioned works in a specific way, There are 4(+) difficulties, each difficulty has 4 different sets of fights. Each set of fights has 3 total battles, so the A-1 round has




Those three sets of fights, nothing at all dangerous for us at our current level..and really not much is a remote challange until the C rank, and even then they are not particularly hard because I can generally blow my MP and rest at the inn before the next round, However C rank did have one fight I could not get past right yet, so we will skip to my commentary on that entire set of fights.


This fight is not particularly hard, the pain is the Plant monster in the back which has a party wide paralysis spell which it will spam.


This one is simple, nothing special the spiders can cause poison and dark, no big deal really


Now this one, this is the one that got me those two plants always spam the crap out of the party wide paralysis spell, which means I spent half an hour watching Harlok be completely unable to act, but taking so little damage from the monsters that if he had any sort of regeneration consistently the fight could have taken forever.

Yeah this is a short one..but the Arena took a bit, and most of it was not very interesting really >.> the only hard bits were when a monster got really lucky with a party wide death spell

I forget which tier it was in, but one of them has entire groups of enemies that spam insta-death moves. Had to come back with some protective rings to finally beat that round.

Now that our arena fun is over, let's continue the exploration of the world. Sorry this is taking so long..this is a BIG world.


We head eastward and find this island, which has nothing in it...boo


And a mountainous Island that has no way onto it by ship.

and a bit further east we come across this damaged looking tower yay! dungeon with treasure!


Or not, it is a Laboratory FOR SCIENCE, and he just gives me a sub like for free. One that I apparently had plans for I don't remember picking those up anywhere oh well now we have more of the world to explore, I am glad we are not like on a quest to save the world or anything.

Going further east we come across another town, which has a few interesting bits in it, first the well contains.


A...Library? What the why is there a library in a well, unfortunately there is really nothing truly interesting here but it is a Library in a Well!


The other odd bit that I found is some bubbles in the waters of the town.


Yay! Sidequest and her plan worked..though really it is not a good one who attracts people with bubbles in water?


There is a small puzzle here, not a difficult one several color tiles appear and I have about 3 seconds to step on the green one, not hard just gotta not freak out when you are doing it and rush too much


Hmm Woods of Doom? Perhaps we will encounter some ROUSes!

Oh well, we head northward and find a Casino, I look around but all you can really get is money no super Overpowered equipment or items unfortunately so not much use for it right now as this exploration has gotten me quite a bit of cash.


So we head further north to the northern continent, and that is where we will stop the adventure for now.

Other than SP orbs I've only had to buy gear. Thief is a bit OP in this game on item procurement, what with being able to steal from EVERY enemy at the same time (granted it cost 32mp a use, but when you have over 1k mp, not so much an issue ). Between that, and my engineer now having both healing and offensive magic, if I somehow need to buy items before I beat the game something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.

They tell you Monks are OP from the start of the game though, it is in the description of the class.

Yeah, my monk currently has 5 attacks at 500-600 damage each (1k+ on crits), and I'm not even level 30 yet! Just need to up his speed so he isn't attacking last and bosses should be so much cheese. Right now I have to keep my fingers crossed on harder fights because he's a bit of a glass cannon. The lack of armor options doesn't help that either.

Nice. I've been steadily creeping my characters HP up towards 1k myself, so far my hunter has the most at 700. Just picked up the skills for monk and thief that let the go first no matter what, its very nice. Seems if you have more than one character with that ability, the game then goes by your PRE stat to decide on order after that.

Managed to finish out the Cave of Mystics, other than some decent loots you get an interesting bit of side plot. Been working on finishing out the Hunting quests, and these guys are still not a joke. Had 2 of the 4 hunts I finished yesterday leave me at the end the fight with only 1 or 2 characters alive in critical condition. Kinda leaves me hopeful on the coliseum being a challange before I finish it out.

I've also gotten to the point where I can do spoiler or spoiler, where one of them seems like it'll immediately end the game. After everything else so far, it doesn't really seem like much of a choice to me.

I have no idea.

After the main hunts the rest of the arena was a faceroll unfortunately. Unlock the uber hunts though, and wow. Only tried the first one, and it was the first time I've ever seen my party only doing 1 damage a hit, and the enemy doing 300+ to my party. Usually its the other way around! So I've been running around working on side areas instead, and I must say, there are a LOT of them. If you haven't found the abyss yet:

I highly reccomend it. Haven't beat it yet, but its just like the Ancient Cave from Lufia 2. Soooo much nostalgia (and awesome loots, made off with a ring that gives +150 acc so far, hurray for 3 more attacks for my monk!).

Part 11 : Oh god we took a very wrong turn, oh well it could be worse we could have ended up in LA.

Realizing that I have enough cash now to open doors in the Mystics Cave, I head there real quick to see what it is like there are 6 sealed rooms 3 of them have wandering monsters to defeat, 3 are like this where you fight five battles in a row without a chance to use the menu screen I get through about 4 rooms before things start killing me, I got a bit of decent loot Gulyus has 2 rings now that increase his critical strike chance by 40% when combined because Items in this game can crit.

We head back south and begin to explore the northeast continent in earnest, the town on the continent has very little my items seem to be better than anything I can buy for acess, but we load up on bombs for Gulyus and then begin to explore in earnest.

Couple of easy puzzles, no good items getting lots of recipies though I hope I am not outpowered on those in terms of equipment, I do hate things like that going to waste.

Okay, I can't complain too much about that..it is the truths.


nearby to that underwater cavern we find the elven hedge mage, I get about ten steps in and get utterly stomped by the monsters we will add that to the checklist for later, to the southern continent which I had not noticed at all to this point...exploration is a time consuming task in a new game.


Hello...other place I can't get to without the Airship...I bet you got a barrier to because Helios loves barriers, we head westward and find a cave woo! treasure


The Abyss? That...is where Nyx is sealed..WHY IS THIS HERE? Helios why did you not erect a giant tower or something around it? I know you put up a barrier but what if someone digs around it? what if the barrier fails? What if some dumb moron decides to unseal it in order to loot the place for treasure? ((Psst guess what my plan is?))


And lastly this place..which has very little of interest asie from these slidey blocks, which do probably exactly what you think they do.

Next time we finish up our bloody world tour..then I forget to show the party stats and continue the story..and then show the party stats after the next boss fight.

Part 12 : Helios Worst elf ever, best Troll ever.

We continue on in our exploration and find a tower full of several simple puzzles, none of which are really worth discussing, at the top we find


Master Roshi? who gives me Liquid Oxygen..which means I can explore the underwater caves.


Yay land slides...booo another barrier.


Well that is the last area we need to explore so..underwater treasure time, Most of these are singular rooms except for one in the north east, that one is the undersea trench which has random encounters that one shot me. so we will visit that later


Also there is this, I ran into a few NPCs that talked to me of the hunter's guild, so I visit there and blow through everything..I am kinda over leveled as you will see next update.


See, hunting monsters..most of them drop rings very useful rings that give my characters insane amount of crit.


Now that we have gained a few levels lets visit the Dragon's cave


Sup Bahumut, I was told you aren't real..so I am going to loot your basement.


ANYWAYS...on with the actual storyline...after like 4 updates of exploring the world, and...yes the ultima crystals! now we are getting somewhere. This King knows how RPGs work.


And a flashback to Gabriel again, we learn that he is immortal and has been taking false Identities to create Mercenary companies. he once again proves that Power and Magic is okay...however the true thing you want is ageless knowledge because if you have done things before you know how to do them. We follow his story quite a bit in this flashback, he desires to find a way to remove his immortality, going so far to destroy the nation of Alexandria in order to get in their vaults for a single book.

Agelessness causes insanity. After the flashback we learn that a Certain elf has knowledge of the locations of the ultima crystals...and a pendant which will allow us to get past the barriers he put up to protect them...that explains that.


Outside of the castle, Atticus wants to tell us a story...if this turns out to be about Rick of Rolling town I am going to murder him and throw the corpse into the Abyss for Nyx to eat.


Oh okay, it is this sort of story..I imagine It is my job to find the man who Killed Atticus' father..and commit violence upon his face.

Before we do that lets go get this Medallion from Helios
