If you want to be slightly less cheesy (with a list like this why would you), grab the Skyshield landing pad instead of the VSG for your flyrants to start on so they get a 4++ in addition to their 2+ cover from jink & shrouding.

I suspect this would even give Serpent spam a run for its money.

Yeaah... not sure you can do much against that with a non-tailored list (i.e. almost exclusively anti-air weapons that ignore cover). Take down the malanthrope immediately and you have a chance. Not a huge one, though.
