Avatar Theme Week RP: What a week!

Some say that setting eyes upon the wild hunt can mean that you are to die, whether or not it is by their hands. Immer also knows about the wild hunt. I mean, it's probably the most badass thing he has heard of.:small tongue:
Any ideas?

"Well, " ventured Maethel, "We could just ask them what they are hunting. If it's not us, maybe we could even help them on their way? "
She noticed aghast looks from everyone. "And if it is us, we could kill them?"

[Lycunadari]

"I can try to ask the dogs why they're so furious. And maybe even get them to leave us alone.", suggested Lycunadari.

Ze flew up to the top of the gate and looked down the other side. For a while ze stood up there till another arrow flew towards hir and ze quickly retreated back to the others. Ze looked confused and scared.

"I can't talk to them, they won't listen! It's like they're so full of anger or fear that they lost all ability to communicate. Well, maybe they didn't have one to begin with, they are rather strange creatures. It's like they're not really there, only illusions - though they look and sound quite real. Or it's like they're dead." Ze shuddered. "I don't like killing, but I don't see how we can protect ourselves from them without harming them."

[Oneris]

"Illusions or not, they're still fey. There's an iron ladder resting against the wall next to my house. If I could get some assistance in moving it, we could use it to ward them away before they tear down the walls. "
Even as she finished speaking, another arrow flew over the wall, punctuating her remark as neatly as it punctured the ground at her feet.

[Scarlet Knight]

After listening to the group for awhile, the Knight steps forward, with a nod toward Lady Raziere, Anna, and Maethel.

"I know not what my purpose in this land be, but I spy a crowd before a gate that needs defending. Be I man or elf, there I know my place. I am at your service and will stand and defend should the gate fall before you retrieve your ladder."

His thoughts quickly added: "I hope the magic of my blade traveled along with me to this realm."

[Somensjev]

"i would be happy to help you fetch your ladder, but we should probably hurry, i'm not sure how long that gate will hold"

Immer reaches his hand towards the iron gate...
It appears that I can help you as well.

As people are talking, one of the horses takes a great leap and jumps over the wall!

That really shouldn't be physically possible. Then again physics don't apply to fey.

Immer shoots an arrow of shadow through the horses leg, making it collapse as it lands.The rider leaps off. Immer summons a shield and short sword, going into combat. He tries to push the enemy towards the iron gate, not doing much. Just stalling.
Go get the ladder! Quick!

"Right! Everyone who's assisting, come quickly!"

Approximately fifteen minutes later, a strange contraption of steel, ropes, pulleys, and casters rolled up to the gate, handled gingerly by a small crowd of fey. Attached to the sides of the ladder were several wide hooks that spanned perfectly the outer crenelations of the town walls. The construction hung from the battlements like a wide shutter.

Reaction from the shadowy hunters was immediate. As the ladder swung over the sides, a great murmur came from the gathered throngs, of exultation from those within, and of dismay from those without. A horseman shied to the side of the ladder and charged at the unshielded walls, but a sharp yank on the ladder shifted it to block his assault. The screams of pain from the spectral horse mingled with the screams of anger from its rider.

Maetheline peered over the side of the walls, marveling at their handiwork. A sudden epiphany shook her out of her reverie. "What if they split up? We need to find all the iron chains we can and hang them from the battlements!"

[Scarlet Knight]

The Knight sees Immer battling the Rider, bravely stalling for time and trying to drive him to the gate. Rutger falls upon his flank, and his sword bites into the enemy's arm.

"Thank the Powers, my sword's magic still exists!"

Hope causes him to double his effort; the Rider finds himself harried by both Immer and the Scarlet Knight.

15 minutes later, when the fey return with their ladder, they see the attacking rider is no more.

Unfortunately for them, 3 more riders jump the walls hissing.

"Have at thee!" Maethel brandished her knitting needles at the riders, jabbing ineffectively at their incorporeal bodies. A nearby torched flared in the wind, and in a moment of genius, she swept her needles towards the flame, setting instantly alight the ball of yarn and knitting attached. Now, her weapon drew the reaction she desired. A quick gesture flung the flaming yarn around like a morningstar, detaching neatly at the apex of its arc to land squarely on the head of a rider.

He was engulfed instantly, burning a poisonous green flame. The inhuman screams of the rider and the horse as they flailed out their life chilled all listeners to the bone.

Aaand with the shadowy riders approaching, Cly's cowardice goes on display as she tries to retreat. It's unlikely she's very successful, though, given that her flight doesn't outpace the riders, so she gulps and nervously readies her sword.

You know, as if it'd do much at this size.

It was a little strange to see all the little people rushing this ladder to the wall to save the town while Uryuu stood by at more or less his original height. Alas, he discovered last night that at a touch iron makes it feel as though every blood vessel in his body were on fire and so he stood around and did nothing.
At least... until the riders began to leap the walls.

More or less defenseless in his current state, Uryuu turned tail and fled.

Immer shot at one of the riders, now weilding a pointed quarterstaff (kind of like a spear), and starts bludgeoning him. The rider quickly adapts to the fighting style, and goes on the defensive. Immer attempts to push back, but gefs nowhere.

When the horse jumped over the wall, Kendall only hesitated a moment before charging at it. As several more jumped
over it she mutters something under her breath, dashes so at least two of them are directly in front of her, but as few allies at possible are also there and shouts. This was quite clearly a magical shout, and her eyes flashed and it appeared to hurt those in front of her.

[Scarlet Knight]

The Scarlet Knight is startled by Kendall's shout. He sees the effect it has on the enemy.

"It's the Dovahkiin!", he cries! "Warriors! We are saved! Rally to the Dovahkiin!"and he battles to her side.

"For gods sake! I am not the dragonborn! It was just a spell!" She yells, while attacking with her sword. "Most of the damaging spells I have are sonic spells, but that doesn't make me the ruddy Dragonborn!"

Immer mentally facepalms at the mention of dohvakiin, but decides that it was a good thought.
Rally! We are stronger together than alone.
He rushes over to fight alongside Kendall.

Felina, being pretty helpless in combat, tries to run!

...and promptly gets kicked by a shadow horse and goes flying. Ouch.

In order to avoid collateral damage, Anna refrains from unleashing her more powerful fire magics to defend the town. In fact, she's not even sure she still has use of fire magic in her new aquatic form. "Best start with basics," she thinks to herself. Pointing her staff at her foes, Anna unleashes a barrage of magic missiles at the invaders which weave their way through the fray, avoiding friends to smite her foes.

This barrage of fire, steel, and magic was too much for the shades to bear. As one, they turned their horses towards the gate and leapt across the barricade, sparing the townspeople from any further distruction. Maetheline, however, was not so lucky. In the commotion, she had once again climbed atop the town walls, reaching for a torch for further fiery ammunition. The sudden retreat of the horsemen caught her by surprise, and the hoof of the horse caught her in the head, knocking her out instantly. The small brownie teetered a bit, then fell bodily the twelve feet to the ground outside, thudding heavily into the dust. A pool of blood formed around her head like a halo, the sticky red liquid matting into her hair.

As small as she was, her fall did not go unnoticed by those who had caused it. Greater men have trembled in their boots when faced with those such as the Wild Hunt. Maethel was lucky to be unconscious. At the command of his faerie masters, a spectral hound sniffed at her fallen form, and, finding it to his satisfaction, picked her up in his jaws. Apparently achieving their quarry, the eldritch hunt inexplicably turned and vanished into the forest

I'll follow them!
With that, Immer shoots over the wall, zigzagging behind the hunt, trying (and succeding) in staying out of view.

Felina tries to get up and follow. It isn't succeeding very well. The getting up part, that is.

[Scarlet Knight]

The Knight kneels beside Felina.

“Brave little Lioness. If equine shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here ...and these horrors now disappear."

[Lycunadari]

"Wait!", Lycu called, "You can't go alone, we need to stick together if we want to save Maethel!"

With that Lycunadari followed Immer over the wall.

Felina struggles to her feet. Thank you. She slides over the wall, taking to the treetops in pursuit.

By the time anyone follows, Immer is probably almost in the forest, if not out of sight.

Kendall swiftly followed flying after as well.
