Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I wish I had someone to sleep with. Not necessarily sex, just cuddle up with in bed and snooze.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Hello again. I have been thinking. I am still questioning but I feel pretty confident that something. I don't really know what I want but I am certain that I have felt dysphoria now. Not very fun. But I am planning on talking to my therapist tomorrow. I hope.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Well, I'm making my first ever transgender character for a roleplaying game. She has in her possession a magical talisman of gender transformation, which she will not use unless it's in a life or death situation (she acquired it to use it once and only once, in her own mind). I don't intend to comment on her past unless asked by the other characters.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Apparently Lego is releasing a new line of toys featuring female characters in various roles such as police officers, scientists, firefighters, and pilots, because a young girl sent them a letter asking why she had so many male characters in those roles, but no females.
I found this out after stumbling upon a blog titled 'FEMINISTS HAVE GOTTEN THEIR HANDS ON LEGO' that was itself, not unsurprisingly, laden with tons of heteronormative, asinine bull****.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Hey everyone. I know I'm a bad forumite, disappearing for forevers at a time, but I have a question; MtF hormone related.
If a girl can't afford her spiro, and needs to stop taking that until money returns; would it be better to continue on remaining estradiol until spiro can be got again, or to stop estrogen until spiro can be had again?

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Probably best to stay on spiro. Estrogen by itself can work, but you'll need really high doses without an anti-androgen. Staying on spiro will at least prevent masculanizing again.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
If I had the money to buy my spiro this month, that would be a non issue. I can't afford it at the moment, so I /can't/ take it right now. I'm asking if I should continue on estrogen while off spiro until I can afford it, or stop estrogen while I'm off of spiro.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Smashed my wing mirror today. I'm not having the greatest luck with my car - I've been driving four or five months, and this is the third time I've dinged it. By far the worst one to date :/

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Probably best to check with your doctor. Just call them and ask.
Also, I think there's some leftover spiro in the donated meds box at work. Pity I can't resell unused veterinary meds. I'd probably never get into vet school if they saw an arrest for selling meds.
Ah, that stinks. So far the worst ding I've done was bumping a parked car in a lot with stupidly crooked lines when my windshield was covered in road salt and the sun was in my eyes. Although one of the random workers off the street that our last contractor hired also bumped into my car and knocked the front bumper and one hubcap loose.Jude P.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I got out of my therapy session. It went all right. I did most of the talking and said most of what I wanted to say. He had a few questions and I answered them clearly. And he mentioned possible joining some kind of support group for this stuff. I think it would be nice when I gained some more independence. Thank you for listening.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
It's primarily used as a diuretic and to treat hypertension. It's an aldosterone receptor antagonist. It's also occasionally used as an antiandrogen because it's also an androgen receptor antagonist. (Thank goodness for the autosave feature on here. Darn it, cat.) Nonhuman animals rarely need it for the antiandrogen effect.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Lego makes generic models but routinely makes firemen, policemen, mailmen, army men, and housewives. Girl Lego sets tend towards houses and princesses. A little girl around age nine wrote them a letter about it and how she wanted to be a knight or fireman too. I guess Lego just sort of went "huh, that is a thing we do. Let's fix it" and people are but hurt.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Speaking of spiro...
My wife has PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome). Since she turned 30 this year (and has always heard doctor's won't sterilize a woman under 30), she decided this is the year to see the GYN about getting rid of the extreme pain and moodiness that comes with her periods. (Also, with the start of Obamacare, she finally has decent health insurance.) I discovered that the GYN that did my hysto (7 years ago) is covered by my wife's new insurance and recommended she see that doctor. So my wife made her appointment, which was last week.
My wife and I try to go to each other's doctor's appointments, so I was with her. The doctor told her that surgery is the last option for treating PCOS (for obvious reasons) and medication is where treatment starts. The doctor stated the two drugs she was putting my wife one, one of them being spiro. (PCOS causes abnormally high testosterone levels.) My ears perked up at that, though it took me a minute to remember where I had heard of that drug, until the doctor said that it's an androgen blocker.
And I got some good news...
Spoiler: For what sounds really weirdWhen I had my hysto, the doctor told me I'd have to continue to have a pap every 2 years. I haven't had one in years, though, since I didn't want to have to find a GYN who would accept me as a patient. My wife told the doctor that she'd done my hysto, somehow (don't remember exactly how) the GYN commented that I don't have to have a pap. I gave a double-take and said I thought she'd told me I would. She told me that if they took out my cervix - which they did - I don't actually have to have one. Doctors used to recommend vaginal paps, but don't any more.
So - NO PAP SMEARS FOR ME!!!!!!!Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Decided to just shave off all my facial hair today. I always get really irritated with it because it seems no matter how closely I try to shave my hair it's still very obviously there, and it grows really quickly, so I mostly just let it do its thing, occasionally shaving certain parts of it that are getting particularly bothersome. Today, I decided to make a point of doing my best to get rid of it all, seein' as... well, I damn well better find a way to accomplish that. So I just shaved it all right off.

This entire thing speaks to me on a quasi-spiritual level. Especially that last part.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Sorry to hear that. Kind of strange that she'd react like that though, most of the patriarchal/hetero-normative/whatever old people I know are the reverse of that. A clean shave is considered "girly" by many people around here. When I grew my beard, even though it's a bit patchy I still heard all about how handsome and masculine it was.
I can definitely understand getting irritated with shaving and just letting it go, heck that's why I grew it out. I can't imagine how much more troubling it is when growing it out makes the situation worse.Witty sig here nosey, aren't ya?

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Well, I decided to start being more proactive about dating. I updated my profile on OKCupid, and straightaway found a man who looks like an awesome match (he hits about 9 off my ideal mate checklist items and seems sweet, and OKCupid thinks we'd be a good match), so I dropped him a message. No clue if anything will come of it, but wish me luck!

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Ugh. I'm starting to get really fed up with cisgendered guys (or casually questioning "well it'd be nice but..." at most) who just happen to have intersex characters calling the shots on what are good or bad things to call trans people and making jokes about minimum "length" requirements for girls with ***** and ****. Especially when they have no obvious trans friends and don't ever ****ing listen to trans peoples' opinions on things they say despite saying they care/showing vague interest in positive things for trans people (even if most of them turn out to be complete bull****, like the myth of "free transitioning").

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I guess she doesn't see it that way. But she's always on about something about my appearance and how I should change it so I look more like a 'proper man'. She still gives me **** over wearing jeans with tears in them, and would never let me hear the end of it back when I had long hair (though I'm growing it out again, so she's in for even more disappointment). It's pretty ****ing irritating.
You actually did give me some a little while ago! Unfortunately, I still live with my family and don't have a whole lot of privacy, so if I were to start using makeup products, they'd find out somehow and then force a conversation that ideally I would like to be the one to provoke :v

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Thanks. I'm just very nervous because I don't normally go out of my way to approach strangers. But I decided to be a bit proactive, and there's this guy who's damn near perfect (from my perspective) on paper, and... I don't know. I just have to wait to see if he messages me back. I hope so, but I'm pretty used to rejection at this point, and somewhat expecting it.
Also, I'm worried (again) that I might be a chaser. There's a big list of things that are interesting about this fellow (he's a gamer, sci-fi geek, in a field I have passing familiarity with from my family, well educated, dashing in a suit) but one of them is that he's trans. I do find gender related stuff sexy, but I don't want to be... I've heard horror stories, and I don't want to be that guy, you know?

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I dunno, golentan, I wouldn't think you're a chaser. Admittedly, I'm not too well-versed in these things, but you say being trans is one of the things that you like. Not the only one thing.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Golentan, I don't think you're a chaser, if only because generally, it applies to people who like trans women. But mostly, you seem to like him as a person.
And let's face it, we trans people are cool, everyone should prefer to date us.
Did I? It's possible. I forget things...
