Post-apocalyptic clothing, gear, weapons etc.
In the process of creating a post-apocalyptic Earth set in the future, I'm thinking around 2030-35, any ideas about what the survivors would be wearing, and what weapons they would use?

Re: Post-apocalyptic clothing, gear, weapons etc.
Not terribly sure is this is the right place for this thread, but I'd say since it's only about 15 years away, most clothing would still look more or less like fashions nowadays, just in various states of disrepair. Clothing manufacturers, department stores, outlets and warehouses might be raided for basic outfits, with more durable and practical items like blue jeans and sneakers prized. For protection from scratches and cuts, old shirts could double as arm wrappings or head coverings like bandanas.
As for weapons, probably also quite similar to modern-day weapons, minus the ones relying on electricity. Batteries will become rare and highly valued. Solar chargers likewise. Think zombie apocalypse style weapons, modified from everyday tools. Gas powered equipment like chainsaws seem cool, but their reliance on a fuel that is no longer produced would probably see them broken up for parts.

What weapons would they use? You're assuming a lot to be saying that they'd have weapons. Depends what they have to fight, if they have to fight. Depends on if there are animals to hunt as well.
What's the place and environment like? Mutant forest, crumbling city, nuclear blasted desert or ice age tundra?Last edited by Closet_Skeleton; 2014-08-02 at 06:20 AM.
