Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
I have everything. Also, people should note that most Civ 5 DLC is 75% off right now and for the rest of the weekend.

I have access to all the DLC's, and Saturday is fine for me, even if it means I have to take a long night after work to make sure everything is taken care of.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
Yes, we do. I'd say there nearly all the Civs rolled have greater than normal incentive to warmonger at some point. I have to admit I'm not thrilled at drawing Assyria, but there are worse draws. Personally, I think everyone got fairly decent draws, although my multiplayer experience is limited.

Incidentally, is there a way to check which order people are gonna take their turns in? I'm a tiny bit anxious for my turn.

Brazil's gonna get violated so badly it'll make the World Cup Semifinals look like a friendly game. It's the only one here that isn't a warmonger/has an incentive to protect itself.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
Do you want to post a list of who's playing as what in the OP? It would make things a bit easier for spectators to follow.
Also, there's really nothing wrong with The Zulu, guys.

Whoa, this is a really nice start location... Unfortunately I'm the Celts, so I have to be fast to figure out what Pantheon I should pick. God of the Open Sky seems to be the best one...
EDIT: Derped hard and forgot the image.

I edited OP with a list of players and nations in turn order.

Welcome, traveller, to glorious India! I'm kinda sad that the mountains spawned within city range, but too far away to allow me to get the observatory. On the other hand, I'm very pleased with being coastal in what appears to be a bay, and with my triple silver. This is a good spot for the future capital of the world.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
It could be worse. You could be Venice in a game of warmongers. That'd be painful.
And, you know, you're gonna need that face intact if you're gonna go Cultural Victory to impress everyone.
Which is why I'm gonna gospread my religiongive everyone a tankard of ale so I'll impress them - I think.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
In the early mists of time, a warlike people, weary of the dust of the road, set down their burdens on the shore of a silent sea, and founded ancient Assur.
Spoiler: Spectators Only
I consider this to be a poor start. No food resources at all? Ugh. A Civ I don't like with a location I don't like. All the luxury resources will be nice, I suppose. I seriously considered settling on the hill in the middle of the ring of resources, but decided settling on the coast was ultimately better. With such a food poor start, though, I doubt my Assyria will fare well this game. I'm seriously bummed out about this start. If I had to start with just luxury resources, couldn't it at least have been something awesome like Gold or Salt?
The only thing to do is suck it up and do the best I can, but I'm already looking into having to grab Pottery and Calendar first in order to get something going; heading straight into military tech with no food bonuses to grow seems really dumb, so the siege tower rush will have to wait.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
It's cold. So cold. During the night, I can hear the wind howl and the bitter frost nip and bite into my skin, while during the day, I see children huddling with their parents as the salty ocean winds rip into them. Winters are long and harsh, but my people are proud and strong. Each evening, I see them huddled together around the fire pit, laughing and sharing stories. In time, I see this becoming tradition. And I understand clearly that, more than anything, my people need a sense of identify, if we are to remain strong. It's cold. Bitterly cold. But in my people I see a warmth that will not be extinguished.
Spoiler: Observation post. All spectators welcome. The Russian capital has been founded on a hilly region surrounded by tundra. There's a mountain close enough for an observatory, but settling next to it would remove my ability to make use of the bountiful sea. Marble, some sheep and whales in the distance. I will have to focus on pottery first, because otherwise the lack of any decent food or grassland is gonna severely stunt my growth. I'm starting monument, because it will be quite a while until I can make use of workers, and I should still have plenty time to get a scout out and start searching for a good spot to settle my second city.

Re: Civ 5: GMR 8 - A Beyond Earth Prequel (G&K, BNW)
In the beginning, our great leader founded Warsaw. It was to be a place of bounty and harvest, plenty and happiness. This is how the story begins...
Spoiler: SpectatorsThe Polish Empire.
Nothing spectacular. Definitely going to have to go Pottery (which I have) and segue into Calendar for the Dyes and Incense, although I can probably snag Writing on the way. There's a Sheep close by, so I'll be able to take early advantage of the Ducal Stable, which more than pays for itself in gold, and adds hammers.
With the Civs in the game, I probably won't be able to compete militarily, although I can likely hold my own. Thus, Domination is out. Cultural victory will probably also be unlikely, as the Celts can go Sacred Sites easily, and if they don't, Brazil is a late-game cultural powerhouse. I'll want to start the Culture generation quickly to protect myself from that, so a Monument after the first scout is likely to be in order. With Uluru in range to snag quickly if I move fast enough, faith is a good option, so I might take Piety later. Poland's really good for picking up Social policies. I'll probably go with a Liberty/Piety/Rationalism loadout, unless something happens to change that. I'll want to snag the Great Person from Liberty as quickly as possible so I can quick produce a good Wonder. I won't try for the Great Library or Stonehenge, but probably the Lighthouse so that England can't get it (shudders), If not that, maybe the Oracle for even more policy goodness.

Hey guys, can I ask for some help in posting screen shots? I'd like to do it for the spectators both in this game and in my other game.

You need to host the image online somewhere to be able to post them on GiTP as far as I know. (I use Photobucket) Then you can copy the Direct link and then paste that into [img]URL HERE[/img] the image tag.

Yea, I got nothing. Are you using the right key? It defaults to F12 in Steam.
