Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
I being by saying that I don't know myself, I haven't played DOTA in a long time.
Are we talking DOTA, or DOTA 2?
I do have a buddy that plays a lot of DOTA 2, and he sent me this graph:
Spoiler
So, 'average' for DOTA is about 3500 (if I recall correctly, the 'average' for League is in mid-Silver, or was before the addition of the Master tier), and 1400 is all the way at the bottom - so Bronze IV/V, if this graph is appropriate.Last edited by Olinser; 2014-10-14 at 04:12 PM.

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
Ever since I hit level 20 I've been maining jungle throughout the last 10 levels and all my ranked "career" (the whole 8 months!) but lately I haven't been enjoying it as much, specially in ranked games I sometimes feel that I have to carry the bulk of the weight, that if I don't play perfectly I'm simple screwing my team over, games simply have stopped being fun. Now before someone tells me to take a break from league, it isn't league that stopped being fun, jungling is what is becoming stressful and a chore. So I think I'll try to play other lanes, the thing is that I have very little experience other than jungling so I don't know where to start. What would be the best lane to get myself into a "laner" mindset coming from the jungle?

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
Well, bro, to be blunt, you are going to get hate no matter what lane you play.
But the biggest thing to remember when switching from jungle to the lane is that you now have a lane opponent.
As such, keeping an eye on that opponent - AND letting your team know, is a big part of a lane. If you lose track of your lane opponent - make sure you ping it. If you saw him go towards another lane (or Dragon, or wherever), convey that information. If your opponent brings Teleport, knowing whether his teleport is up or down is a big thing.
Properly managing your minion waves is also a big thing. Since you now have an opponent in lane and minion waves to manage, you can't back whenever you want. Try and plan your back and buys by pushing the wave, shoving out your opponent, etc. Just about the worst place you can possibly be in is going back to base just as a big wave is about to hit your turret. That not only costs you a large amount of CS, it puts a lot of damage on your turret.
Likewise with backing, knowing when you can put leave the lane and put pressure on objectives and other lanes is a big factor - if you aren't making progress solo against the turret (or have already taken it), it may be more beneficial to shove the lane and roam to a different lane than staying in lane.

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
Hate from other people? I'm used to it, the mute button is such a handy little thing after all; no the problem is that I'm simply not enjoying the jungle like I used to do.
I'm getting overwhelmed by the need to do well, to get my carries fed, to mantain jungle control, maintain vision, invade, counter-gank; I figured that laning would be "easier" on me, yes I still have to juggle a lot of things (last hitting, trading, zoning, roaming, etc) but at least from where I'm now it seems far less stressing than the jungle. Or perhaps I just need a general break from league, I've been tilting really hard lately, a 5 loss streak, and got demoted to Bronze II and I'm on the verge of getting demoted to Bronze III.
Edit: Thanks for the tips though, will come really handy one way or another.

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
mid lane is most similar to jungle in that the bulk of your contribution is often tied directly to the success of your roaming

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
If it's not too late to get into the tip-giving...
Before getting into laning, I'd suggest using one of the simpler ADCs in at least a couple bot games. Regardless of how good you are at the game, a bot game or two will, if nothing else, confirm for yourself that you have the not-jungle-applicable basics (like last hitting) down pat before trying to do it against enemies that will competently put up a fight. And if you find out that you do need practice at something, it's better to find out about it before it puts you on a losing streak.SpoilerBossing Around Mad Cats for Fun and Profit: Let's Play MechCommander 2!

Re: League of legends LXI: Demaglia!
I vote for Winthur in the upcoming Thread-name Election.
I've started streaming again.
78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
I started my first campaign outside of an abandoned mine, just as soon as a meteor storm from the moon hits.

Kog'Maw was bugged recently so that his name was displayed in game as "**game_character_displayname_champ_kog'maw" or some such coded whatever.
