Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
Guys, I just noticed: BourgeoisJerry is role playing as an upper-middle-class white collar worker. Who else do we know that have white collar jobs? The controllers! He's one of them!

False, this is Denying the antecedent. He says that he is only lynched when he is town; this does not imply that he is always lynched when he is town, so if he isn't lynched he might still be town.

But, if there's controllers, we should be lynching their Yeerks instead!
Oh, no! You found me out!

I've always been interested in trying out a Werewolf game but have never had a chance. Count me in.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
Actually that brings up a question: am I reading this wrong, or is the ideal thing to do as a seer to attempt to lynch whoever you scry first regardless of what they come up as to verify if you're the fool or not as quickly as possible? Because that is both messy and hillarious

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
That's one option, but that option comes with the inherent risk of getting yourself lynched or killed soon after by tossing yourself under a spotlight early in the game, thus possibly losing the village's most powerful weapon against the wolves.
If you simply keep track of your 'scries' every night, eventually someone you scried wil die and you'll have your answer without all that risk.
The latter is much safer for yourself and your team, but the former is much more fun.Last edited by Shadow; 2014-09-10 at 02:35 PM.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
If this is still recruiting (as the title implies) I'd be willing to play. I am not familiar with the rules, but a crash course can't hurt, right?

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
Come to think of it, it'd be pretty easy for a Wolf to claim Scryer by throwing on of his fellows under the bus since they have absolute knowledge of who is a Wolf and who isn't. But that would involve someone willing to be thrown under it, which isn't very likely.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
There's other issues I might see with that. First, there's nothing preventing the actual seer, or a gambling villager, or rarely a malingering third party, from counter claiming your assertion. You also don't know if the villager will accept your claim. Second, you're placing a lot of faith in the idea the village will simply follow your claim after a singular success. The group think of the town can be exploited, but rarely do experienced players give you carte blanche for bagging one wolf. You also usually don't have the numbers to make throwing away a wolf life outright worthwhile without some sort of extenuating circumstances. The town can afford to trade a few lives and make a few mistakes and still come out ahead. You have to make sure you force them to make a lot of mistakes. That's not to say there aren't times to throw a wolf under the bus, but it's not usually worth it just to maybe gainsay a seer claim for its own sake.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
Believe him. I managed to lynch alpha and devil on day... two and three, I believe, in a game that shall not be named. I was an honest-to-god villager.
I got lynched near the end of it, because I kept hitting villagers after that, so I was obviously wolf. The wolves won that one.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
Private Messaging is allowed, so the best thing to do is tell the first person you scry as villager that you scried them as villager. If you're the Seer you have a network, if you're the Fool wolves don't really care to kill you so there's no real loss.
And a really brave Seer could pretend to be the Fool and network with some wolves to see what they're thinking.SpoilerWhat kind of paranoid mind sees that as something else. ~ The Narrator, during Stranded in Space.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
There might be a few issues with that. Such as:
Seer scans Target. Target reads Villager.
Seer: Hello friend Townie. I'm the Seer. Let's network!
Alpha: Yes lets.
No, though the flavor text does indeed hand me the kill. Mechanically, Tasroth bandwagon'ed you using a vote multiplier.

Re: Werewolf in the Forum [RECRUITING]
As Seer, your life is worth more than the life of one Wolf, so put survival first.
Writing this makes me want to add: As Vanillager (standard Villager with no powers), do not adopt this attitude. Your survival is largely irrelevant; just try to avoid getting lynched, since we want to be lynching wolves. If as a vanillager you force the wolves to nightkill you, you have done your duty and been a valuable player by keeping the powerroles alive just a little longer.
And when I say avoid getting lynched, I do not mean be cautious and quiet. If you do that, you'll be of no threat to the wolves and we'll end up lynching you eventually just to conduct process of elimination. Instead speak up and hunt wolves, and even if you're often wrong, other players will hopefully be able to see your genuine attempts to help town and use this to determine your innocence.Last edited by Saposhiente; 2014-09-11 at 12:30 AM.
